Okay, so after I put my bid in I was bored and wondering whether anything in the draft could help us find scum.

Then I thought, "You know, it's probably the 1's."

I checked previous PyP games, and in all the open games scum picked 1... hmm.

Unless you think there's a reason scum are more likely to pick 1's, this is essentially a lottery fallacy which could have been applied if the scum had all picked high numbers, even numbers, etc.

Some rudimentary PoE is only part of that.

Nobody genuinely uses PoE this early. It's plausible for town to make up reasons, but scum are more likely to.

Alabaska actually raises a decent point. Choosing a number over 9000 doesn't clear you. Yeah, it doesn't implicate you either, like Siv pointed out in #54, but the defensiveness is interesting.

I disagree. This is a surefire way to increase the likelihood of tunnelling. For me, scumhunting is a continual process and the best way to refine and solidify reads is direct conversation. If you shut your ears when your scumreads defend themselves then you'll never have a reason to move your vote. So, for me, that's a definite leave-it.

Cool with me. I do think you may have missed my point slightly - I'm advocating a complete openness to being wrong and to changing your point of view; just that a debate with a suspect gives dirtier information than an objective analysis. I hold the view that the town works best with a high degree of individual decision-making outside of other people's opinions, so naturally we disagree.

Actually I did, at the beginning where I explained what the Driver method is. This gives you enough information to google Janine Driver, learn about the method, and draw your own conclusions instead of relying exclusively on someone (me) who has just started using it.

I did a read of Sakura yesterday and was intrigued by the things Yesterday mentions now - without a meta I was having trouble distinguishing between her being scum or pugnacious town.

Incidentally, I was discussing a particular scumtell with my friend yesterday. My opinion is that things which could be

construed

as scummy, but aren't really, are jumped on by scum more often. Now, whether or not my post was objectionable, I hope it's obvious that a) it was intended as an out-of-game aside, nothing to do with scumhunting or trying to implicate Elyse - what I said is NOT a scumtell on Elyse, and b) I'm a slightly better player than to try and misquote somebody else as Elyse presuming nobody will notice.

My original PBPA of pecan had a lot more posts I found scummy, so I'll review those later if I have time.
