First time I've ever heard that before. And I guess it feels good; this is my tenth scum win ever, which considering I've played in probably close to 150 games, is not nearly as good as I'd like it to be.In post 271, DoctorPepper wrote:Mastin! Youre my new hero!
I have no idea how you won that. Even through TIP, who wouldnt really have scum motivations to quickhammer us.
General note, when I play good, you can mimic me, but I'm not always this good--my play is a rollercoaster of good-then-bad, as both alignments. (And, by what I think is no coincidence, at opposite times. 2013 has been the best year for my scum meta ever, but it's also been one of my most sub-optimal years as town. There
Butyeah. One of the key facts about my scum play this game was taking out who I determined I wanted dead, not who the town thought was town. It worked out fairly well, since I imagine when I read the dead QT, there will be lots of ranting about "lol, Mastin's so obviously scum".
In general, as scum, my approach is highly,
Basically, my approach this game was, simplified, "Lynch the scummy-but-not-scummiest, kill the towny-but-not-towniest" players, which is the stereotypical scum mold as a player. Keeping a calm, rational head is a huge help. Working with the town is another biggie. Keeping players who're impulsive alive helped, as did killing players who have similar personalities to my own. (That is, stubborn yet rational. For instance, Bacde.) Hitting the PRs was a nice bonus in having done so.
All that said, I'm kinda glad that this game wasn't as anticlimatic as I thought it'd be. I did virtually zero actual work this game, basically just lurking my way to victory via strategic posting and letting the town rip themselves apart, which they did quite spectacularly. I was worried this victory would be so easy as to dismount Vs. Mafia.
But it wasn't quite that easy, and I'm glad it at least looks like I semi-earned it. (When, in fact, I was just winging it. )
Here's my ramblings, explaining my moves.
