Would make the most sense. The only poisonlike thing I remember from the books was the knife they stabbed Frodo with, and Shelob, who didn't have an agenda which involved the ring.

How did you know spiff wasn't the ringbearer? Or do you mean Frodo? What makes you think Frodo is in the game?

In regards to the other more likely third parties, iirc Gollum choked his victims (Would be regular kill) and Saruman talked to them, meaning that it is unlikely to be Saruman because otherwise we'd have a cult.

If the ring wasn't revealed just now, then mafia would have had to risk killing a claimed VT on the chance he might have the ring. Now that they know he will have the ring, there is no risk.

You're missing the fact that, assuming I am telling the truth, the mafia's kill is poison and thus the victim will have the day to pass the ring on.

It doesn't help them to let town have an investigative role. Beside, I doubt that the ring doesn't benefit them in some way too.

I didn't know that the ring could just be passed to anyone they want... until the flip happens, I won't make any more assumptions. I am just weary about Who's claim.
