Btw, seeming wifom defences are very commonly town because nobody bothers to come up with one to convince you of anything because it just plainly doesn't work, however, town can concoct stuff that looks like a wifom defence but isn't intended as one, though.

I agree that WIFOM is not helping town. If it is true that it contributed to Saki claiming scum, then it seems to suggest that it will only hurt town even more if it continues. However, the fact that Saki didn't honour his win condition is annoying.

Bert, gut instincts aren't all that helpful. You say that you don't like Bauss referring to himself as town/scum Bauss. Why is that? What correlation is there between referring to yourself and your alignment? Also, how do you reconcile post 143 and post 172? Also, your post 177 seems too friendly to me, and what is stopping you from doing something while you wait?

Mutters is WIFOM to the max, plus role fishing on D1, plus dominating the conversation. So yeah, its a bunch of anti-town behavior. BUT, despite all that, and my assertion of all those things yesterday... he still rallied enough voters to back him and lynch up Saki. (Scary) That means we need to get a conversation going that will get some people into the game instead of just following the guy that screams the loudest.

I'm not sure about this. Saki claimed scum after a mistake that would have been noticed had Mutley not mentioned it (Sakura pointed it out too). The bandwagon occurred after Saki said he was scum. It was seems like frustration (and petulance) on the part of Saki, rather than an aptitude for scumhunting on the part of Mutley. However I agree with you that there needs to be more conversation.

Your response to this argument somehow doesn't sit well with me. I haven't played mafia for a while, but isn't it still the case that an argument based upon a player's metagame is a weak argument? You seem to suggest that he was temperamental in the last game you played with him, so why play again?

Mutley, there is something strange about post 160 and post 175. You say you can understand why bauss would act the way he did if he were town, and then say that you don't need much confirming that he is scum?

160 is basically me saying that I can understand town motivation for picking one shot vig. However I think it's wrong cos weakening scum by taking the vig doesn't not weaken them more than town having a cop.

He's scum there's like a 1 percent chance town takes one shot vig in the top 2

Mutley, can i point out that there are 12 people below the top 2, 9 of them town if the top 2 are town? I would be highly surprised if nobody picked cop at all, because there's always the teeny tiny chance this game happens, and a cop in the lower half is way more valuable than a cop in the upper half.

At least, it was before you went and messed it up by massclaiming in the top half.

Anyway, meta arguments are dependent on how deep the meta is. If it's just "He claimed scum he only does this as town" it's worthless. If it's "He's doing X, which he does as town and doesn't do as scum," it's okay. Most don't go anywhere near deep enough - "He did X as scum, he's scum," without any town is worthless.

Been reading day 1 and the boatload of WIFOM that mutt is pouring is staggering. The most laughable part is him basing it all on his experience of 1 game. BUT, I can see the town motivation behind his thinking.

What stuck out at me was Mr Bartlett...

He sheeped muttley in 55 but made sure to leave himself an out in 60 for if/when I flipped town. He even suggested we lynch Muttley first to make sure we weren't being tricked by the guy who's theory he just said "sure as hell make sense to me (MrBartlet)". My bet is that Muttley is town and MrBartlet (and the other scum) were happy to follow his WIFOM to a mislynch of a power role. (though Saki claimed scum and it never happened.)

Also, did Saki self hammer day 1?? I think he did and I didn't like Bartlett piling on a vote after a lynch was reached. After Saki claimed scum it could be seen as scummy NOT to be on the wagon...
