Channel reprint ploxOne time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.-

Can I just go on record saying that "post-rotation" lists without the next set being fully spoiled are fucking stupid? A large set brimming with 229 cards is going to be coming in about a month, I'm sure it'll have shit that fits into your archetype du jour.Ski mask? Check! Sawed off? Check! Guilty conscience, fear of death? Check! Check! Check!
Get to know me. Or don't. I won't tell you what to do. I'm not God. Or your father. Or your boss.-

I say they scrap Theros, and just reprint Homelands. One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. What's fucking stupid is waiting until some netlist spoonfeeds you a complete deck post-rotation, when the core cards will be at premium. In post 3411, AGar wrote:Can I just go on record saying that "post-rotation" lists without the next set being fully spoiled areA large set brimming with 229 cards is going to be coming in about a month, I'm sure it'll have shit that fits into your archetype du jour.fucking stupid?
There's no shame in speculating a future core. We are losingthreesets and only gainingone. There won't be a 1-1 replacement for every Standard playable card, which means that most of the post-rotation Standard core already exists. Plan, buy, and brew now.So high, so low, so many things to know.

I think the point is that you can't really tell what cards will be "core" until you get a real spoiler. Right now, you might see a card and think it's good, only for it to have bad support or another card that neutralizes it. Meanwhile, they're are plenty of cards that look meh, but become core cards because they play roles in good decks you can't plan. I think time has shown that if you want the good singles post rotation, the best plan is to buy a box beforehand and hit the trades. One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. Building around a single card is usually a poor plan anyway, isn't it?
A strong deck core doesn't crux on a single card. The deck posted for Gamma has a simple goal: swarm with creatures to get the most value out of powerful battalion effects. Battalion cards aren't being printed in Theros, so that component of the core is already locked in. The tech spice might change, but the core will always consist of haste or high power-value creatures that enable the swarm.
DON'T THINK ABOUT IT STUPID just seems like an intellectually lazy approach. If you're afraid of being wrong, sure - wait for other people to be right first. If you want to brew, this is the prime time to pick up core cards that foos like you are overlooking because known-unknowns could be hidden in the sand.
Buying boxes for EV just seems like a way to put liquid in Wizard's pocket instead of yours. Through our powers of collective speculation, the scummune is acquiring predictable core cards (Blood Baron, shocklands, Sphinx's, Rakdos' Return - the powerplays that will DEFINE the upcoming format) because these cards will spike past their current stable value when people rush out after spoilers/set is released. But at least you'll ~know~So high, so low, so many things to know.

Drafted today. Was able to live a dream. Liturgy of Blood a Blightcaster, use leftover mana to Bogbrew Witch for a Newt, sac the newt to Bubbling Cauldron to kill a Giant Spider. Felt pretty great.
Shea, I assume the "almost" exception is Limited?Showjdodge1019: hasjghsalghsakljghs is from vermont

Hascow/Cow are acceptable shortened names, never "Has"-

I usually buy a fatpack per set, but that's as much to get dice/lands/a box as it is to get sealed product. In post 3417, Thestatusquo wrote:you should almost never buy sealed product. thats for damn sure.-

Why Imposing Sovereign and not Blind Obedience? Same cost, stronger effect.
Were you planning to attack with it?I'm a hoot

Canadian laws prohibit entree fees for tournaments, its considered gambling, tournaments here get away with it by giving out some sort of product that they force you to buy. So tshirts, or packs, or w/e.In post 3420, Thestatusquo wrote:Yep. Or that one time I really needed arbor elves for a deck and the vendors didnt have any and no one had any so I cracked three packs that I had been saving to draft with and got there.
One time, Rise of Eldrazi had just come out, and everyone who entered the standard ptq got 6 packs of RoE, a friend I was with couldn't get the Gideon he needed for his deck no matter what he did, cue like 6 of us all cracking the RoE packs we had been given looking for a Gideon for his deck.Taking a break from the site.
