4-0'd my Pre-release got 11 packs.

Ended up getting Red, White, and Green gods by the end of the night and a bunch of meh cards and traded most of it away for a Playset of Oozes. I kept the Red God though.

Oh, I'd suggest everyone go white if its an option, the sealed is a lot more tempoy than it seems. If you fall behind on board it can be very hard to catch up. The abundance of combat tricks makes medium creatures a very poor stabilization option.

Red, Black, and Green decks were really good at my pre-release.

Went 3-1-1 (would've been 4-1 if not for clock and turns) running RBu, good enough for fifth and a small payout. My brother and I are doing a 2HG sealed prerelease event tomorrow as well. Also I'd agree to Chamber's tempo assessment but I have no idea why he's recommending white over blue as the tempo play.

also the blue promo is insanely good, a 6/6 for 6 is a decent bomb in limited, but if you can get that 2 extra mana, you can make him a 10/10 and tap down basically their whole board and it's gg

So I really enjoyed Heroic today. Lots of combat tricks in this set. Almost wonder if I can't do something about it in Standard.

I really loved Gods Willing and Cutthroat Maneuver. Staunch-Hearted Hero was a fucking all-star too.

Alright I played a real slow BG deck to a second place finish. I didn't have any super bombs besides Abyssal Underlord but just a bunch of solid mid game creatures and Hero's Demise. I mostly did the classic Rock thing of trade 1-1 and then restock with COMPLETE all star, Pharinka's Mender+March of the Returned. Dude who beat me in the finals was playing Thermos Block Constructed Minotaur Tribal. Worst part was stabilizing with Abyssal Underlord, then having your opponent double Spark Jolt the tokens, making you sac the Underlord. Didn't pull anything super sick, but got a bunch of utility cards- 2 RG Temples, Anger of the Gods, Hero's Downfall, Swan Song. Its a start.

This really makes little sense to me, but was also my experience. I do suspect some bad plays may have been the cause of it in my case though.

Wen't 4-0-1 and ended up splitting for 2/3 of a box in top 4 with what I thought was a pretty mediocre GW deck.

Some brief impressions on the format:

1) it is not as slow as I expected. While I do think it is generally correct to draw in sealed, this is not always true like I assumed it would be. In draft, I expect it to be correct to play the majority of the time.

2) Enchantment removal is not only maindeckable, but I think it is actively good. I started one each of the gain three life one and the scry 2 one, and I can think of only one time during the whole tournament where I didn't have a target I was happy to kill. One match I sided in 2 more pieces. I think I am going to be pretty happy running 1-2 pieces in almost all of my non-hyper aggressive decks.

3) This is a format that is basically a struggle for board control. Once board control is obtained, the game ends very quickly from there. Coming from behind is much harder than it usually is because the good cards are unbeatably good, and the removal is just very very bad. Your game play should almost always prioritize board position over all other goals, I think. Even more so than normal.

4) Bestow cards weren't as good as I thought they were going to be. Monstrous was better than I thought it would be. The weapons cards were fine, but not amazing. I went in thinking that the bestow cards would almost always be card advantage, and I really just don't think that is the case. I think some of them are fine and some of them are quite good, but I certainly wouldn't want to play a card just because it has bestow. Monstrous on the other hand, because of the lack of quality removal, are waaaaay better than I thought they would be. being able to spend your turn making one of your dudes an 8/9 is just really really good in this format.

My experience was different, I maindecked the gain 3 life one, and although it was only dead for me once, it was also never a blow out, and the things I removed with it I felt like I could have dealt with in other ways for the most part. Still a small sample size, but with my experience I can't see myself ever being happy with 2.
