So I don't know if you actually read my idea, but the whole point was to help protect a cop or tracker from being outed.

The strategy is to allow town to retroactively learn what the results of the investigative roles should they die before they claim.

So we should focus on scum hunting, and avoid game breaking ideas because they backfire terribly in this kind of setup.

I'm more used to the 7 player open set-ups with 2 mafia goons, 1 cop, and 1 doc that starts on a night phase (which means one town dies before the game even begins and town almost always no-lynches day 1).

The purpose of the strategy is actually to protect the investigative reports, not the PR role itself. And it's mostly used in open set-ups where you know the investigative role (usually the cop) is in danger because the protective role (usually the doc) has already been killed. It's also used by players who rely way too heavily on the investigative roles because they don't know how to scumhunt. More experienced players find even the suggestion of this strategy to be scummy and may push an attack on you for it. This is because the plan tends to backfire. I think your intentions may be town-motivated, though.

If you want to know if it's beneficial, you have to decide which is more important: the investigative reports or the PR. But in order for the hypo to be effective, you need three things: 1) all the players have to be on board, 2) all the players have to be familiar with the concept and know how to use it competently, and 3) the confidence that someone isn't going to jack around and fuck it all up. If you don't have all three things, don't do it.

I think the investigative roles are already pretty much protected by this set-up, so no, I don't think we should use the hypo. If you want to test this strat, it's better to do it through your own theory with a player list that's open to it. This current game doesn't qualify.

I don't like Kaze's argument. If ER didn't beat me to it, I would have voted the Nacho hydra. Early L-1 and L-2 is scummy and post #14 is practically begging for a vote. Why so keen for an early wagon/lynch?

Since you asked, I didn't know you were a hydra, too. And to Brian, I'm using a phone that doesn't allow you to distinguish the colored names that indicate hydrae. And if you're still curious, I'm working 40+ hours on 3rd shift, which affects not only my time, but attention span.

As for the other players, I don't know. We're only at Day 1 so anyone could be anything, and all we've got is rampant speculation. I can look over the thread again, but not much really rises up above the level of guesswork and attitude, to be honest with you. At least with Day 2 we've got things to actually work with.

Then, in 80 he claims later that he didn't vote NOTYO at the time because he was L-1, when NOTYO was in fact L-2.

I have looked at the setup, and no matter which row or column is chosen, if there is a investigative role, there is no protective role.

That is what prompted me to come up with a way to protect the investigative reports, even if they were to die before claiming.

I see your three points though. I'm fine with not doing the strategy.

I'm confident in my scumhunting skills, and we don't need a game-breaking strategy to win.

Wake's anti-hydra posts are badposting, but definitely null tell.

Willing to lynch a player for his prejudice toward hydra is equivalent to willing to the said prejudice toward hydra imo.
