Lying Cat is scum.In post 42, Lying Cat wrote:AA and Mollie references the heads of the flying beauties hydra. Also from the beauties part, the answer is presumably yes.
A point of information, there are 4 hydrae in this game, and it is probably a good idea to check out their members to understand references like above.
VOTE: Majiffy for having an avatar that objects to Martian Law.
As an aside, both members of this hydra are going camping tomorrow so we may not be able to contribute much this weekend. Sorry, this is exactly the reason we wanted to Hydra.
-Jingle
Actually, 5 hydra.
Vote: Lying Cat
Hell, I wouldn't mind if we quick-lynched them.

I didn't accuse him of waffling, so why you are trying to debate scum-tells at this point is beyond me. Why you would defend someone this early is too.
Buckwild, what are you doing?-

UNVOTE: Lying Cat
LC's recent posts have satisfied me and I'm more unsure of their alignment now than sure it's scum.
My own suspicions fall on Paschendale and SS for inconsistencies surrounding their LC votes. I'll outline them late when I'm not phoneposting.
My gut also dislikes MafiaSSK'S vote and unvote of LC and I'm facing a gut/head conflict over AngryPidgeon.
Zdenek should be along soon with a post.

Well, I meant mafia-wise.In post 93, Buckwild wrote:We'll right now I'm sitting on my couch. Yourself?
No. It's the style of the post, not the vote itself. In post 82, Paschendale wrote:There's nothing there to criticize but an RVS vote. But the time for that is passing. Let's see something serious, LC. Same to Splintered Shadow.
Buckwild can die anytime for what I think is faking a newb-tell.
Well, it seems like he's trying. In post 152, AngryPidgeon wrote:Zd/Quil, you guys still think Cat is scummy?-

Alright. In post 181, Fear and Loading wrote:My own suspicions fall on Paschendale and SS for inconsistencies surrounding their LC votes. I'll outline them late when I'm not phoneposting.
The inconsistencies lie with Splintered Shadow saying
when Lying Cat said in their first postIn post 99, Splintered Shadow wrote:I like how Lying Cat disappeared after pressure was applied. Can we get some more votes on them?
which indicates a lack of thoughtfulness / reading comprehension and to me reads scummy especially considering Splintered Shadow's postIn post 42, Lying Cat wrote:As an aside, both members of this hydra are going camping tomorrow so we may not be able to contribute much this weekend.
implies he had read Lying Cat's first post and therefore knew about why Lying Cat would be absent.
Also, MafiaSSK implicates himself of the same thing here
as does Paschendale hereIn post 100, MafiaSSK wrote:
I'm down for putting pressure on Lying Cat.In post 99, Splintered Shadow wrote:^ That feels so forced. Have you checked out their metas?
I like how Lying Cat disappeared after pressure was applied. Can we get some more votes on them?Vote Lying Cat
which is particularly notable since his last post was this
and Lying Cat had not posted in the meantime. In post 82, Paschendale wrote:I don't know about votes for Lying Cat yet. There's nothing there to criticize but an RVS vote. But the time for that is passing. Let's see something serious, LC.
Essentially, all three players have implicated themselves of not reading at least some of what Lying Cat had posted when they voted Lying Cat or being sloppy and not checking the allegation that Lying Cat had 'disappeared' when they voted Lying Cat.
Both Zdenek and I are in agreement that MafiaSSK's explicit vote for pressure is useless, as are his posts generally.
I certainly think MafiaSSK is the best place for a vote at the moment. Paschendale and Splintered Shadow do not escape scot-free, but Zdenek and I certainly think they're not as good votes as MafiaSSK.
VOTE: MafiaSSK

What do you think of AP's comment about pride? In post 199, Paschendale wrote:Buck still looks like the best choice. There's just no attempt at hunting there. SS's 196 sums it up pretty well.
No one seems to be doing anything controversial. This is especially baffling from people like Majiffy or Varsoon, who are usually a lot more outrageous. There's this very strong sense of caution in this game, and every action looks tentative and measured.
It's the one thing that's holding me off Buckwild at the moment. I don't actually think that pride is a town-tell like he does, but the comment reads like a reflection of a genuine emotion to me. It's why I was interested in flying beauties' comment about him saying the same thing in a past game - my initial feeling was that buckwild wouldn't be able to fake that as scum, and an example showing that he could would have made that comment null.-

It comes down to: why would you put pressure on someone who had explicitly stated why they would be absent? Doesn't make sense. It's much more likely they just hadn't read Lying Cat's posts and therefore didn't know about Lying Cat's absence. (Also MafiaSSK actually quoted SS's original post.)In post 283, AngryPidgeon wrote:Eesh a lot of posts over night.
FnL: Splintered explicitly called Cat scummy for disappearing after going under pressure. The other 2 (SSK/Pasch) just voted him for pressure but said nothing about why or why not he is scummy when they did. I don't see how you are making the leap to say that they ALSO read Cat's post but think his lurking is scummy?
SSK and Pasch just said they want pressure on him. Splintered was the only one to call them out on ducking the thread after getting pressured. In post 264, Fear and Loading wrote:Also, MafiaSSK implicates himself of the same thing here
Why SSK over Splintered? (Pasch is definitely contributing the most, sure).
MafiaSSK was actually a sack of useless and for the most part only responded to other people instead of doing anything active at all. He didn't make any effort to scumhunt. Then he quietly replaced out and it remains to be seen whether his successor will actually do anything either.

The reason there was still no content was because both members of the hydra were V/LA. You would have known that had you read LC's posts. In post 273, Paschendale wrote:@FnL in 264: Yeah, I changed my mind. I do that sometimes. I was okay with votes for LC in 82... but not yet. I wanted to see some more content from LC. Then, at the end of that day, there was still no content and I was unwilling to wait.

I still have to look into splintered. I've been lazy on that front.
I think JKLM's gambit is garbage. Considering his join date I'm inclined to think that it's coming from town, since I don't think that he'd risk blowing a scum game with that play.
I thought that Grim still appeared townish, but I really dislike their "maybe Darthe is up to something" comment.
Beli talk to me about contractions. Have you caught scum with that before? It seems to me like a bizarre thing to comment on.-

You liked the case?In post 449, Varsoon wrote:I'm with Splintered on AP = scum.
This really doesn't seem like a scum post.In post 455, Belisarius wrote:A word search forall contractions?
I think not.
Myself or anyone who hasn't played with AP before running meta on him conventionally would also be unscientific due to the bias inflicted by having his contraction avoidance this game highlighted.
Only someone who has played with AP before whilenotspecifically looking for contraction avoidance can provide an unbiased answer, and I won't act on any other kind.
Crap or scummy? In post 459, Paschendale wrote:I agree that JKLM's faux self sacrifice is crap. Emotional appeals are not compelling and his attempts at pushing his reads just look like whining.
which would entail what. I'm not sure that I want to lynch the same people that you do. Perhaps Varsoon, but I need to think about it.In post 517, yukawhite wrote:I would like to form a town bloc with you 2, are you guys open to it?-

@Mod: votecount, please.
My problem at the moment is that I don't have any strong reads one way or the other. I suspect this is a function of lots of unhelpful banter amongst players, very little consensus generally, and a Day which feels like it's been dragging on too long. As it is, though, my reads fall on a continuum from most to least scummy, and there is not much distance between different players.
Varsoon, Belisarius, and AP (in no particular order) are up there at 'most scummy', but I really don't mind who dies today, so long as it isn't us. A flip will be fantastic.

Wrong. In post 767, The Grim Reaper wrote:Varsoon is town. His push on The Grim Reaper slot screams it. Scum has no interest in pushing a slot that nobody was pushing before. Scum has no interest in pushing a slot that's proven to be hyperactive. Pushing active players like us is setting yourself up for a whirlpool of wall-wars and the like, the exact thing I think scum would want to avoid.
Scum have a lot of interest in pushing a slot that won't go anywhere but wall-wars because it makes them look like they're doing something, it makes them engage a lot more actively, it provides the opportunity to fake some emotional reactions for easy town cred, and it makes mistaken people like you make mistaken statements like the above. Never scumhunt by trying to guess what scum are and aren't willing to do. Rather, scumhunt by looking at what players have done.
Moreover his push on you was based on a weak one line of reasoning which presumed Lying Cat also being scum. Then, when nobody was convinced, he posted 'I'm also all for a Grim lynch, but no one's supporting that.' and switched votes.
