SETUP RULES

  • A game will be played with as many players as would like to sign up. I require that there be at least 20 players signed up to play before we begin.
  • Players are welcome to join whenever they'd like, but any player that starts after the first question will not be scored as a competitor that is eligible to win. These players will be denoted with an asterisk.

GAME RULES

Object
  • The player with the lowest position when one player reaches the highest position (position seven) is the winner. If more than one player is tied for the winning position, those who've reached position seven are out of the game and the rest will continue until there is a clear winner.

How to Play
  • A category will be given each round such as "Name Five Pieces of Exercise Equipment" or "Which Player Reads the Most Novels." All players must then PM me their choices as answers for the current category.
  • I will give a deadline for PM submissions of your answers and, at deadline, will post them all. The point is not to give the correct answer(s), but to give the most popular answer(s).
  • Outside help (e.g. Internet searching and/or discussion of the current topic with other players) is disallowed; answers must be actual attempts to fit the category -- none of this giving of answers that don't fit just for laughs or to match others outside of the category.
  • If a player plans to be away from the website for a period of time, they are allowed to PM me in advance so that I may send them upcoming question(s) to answer preemptively.
  • Players that do not submit answers before the will automatically drop a position in addition to the player with the lowest score. All players are given three "strikes". If you do not submit your answers before the deadline on three occasions, you will be dropped from the competition officially (although you are still welcome to continue playing for fun).

Scoring
  • All players start at the same position (position zero) and only move from this position if they have the lowest score in any given round.
  • If there is a tie for least number of points, all those involved in the tie move forward (unless all players are tied, in which case there is no movement).
  • Players score zero points if they give an answer that matches no other player during a round.
  • Players that give the same answer score a total amount of points equivalent to the number of players that also gave that answer.
[/list]

Example Play
  • RedCoyote wrote:Okay! Everyone, PM me five pieces of exercise equipment. Your deadline is 5 days... go!

goodmorning to RedCoyote via PM wrote:Hmmm, this is an interesting question. Let's go with

    .

I bet you use them all, you big hunk you. ;)
RedCoyote wrote:All three players have got their answers in. Here are the totals.

Okay! I stole this game from Mastermind of Sin (who, as I recall, stole this from MeMe).

Here is the game when MoS ran it. It's 90% the same game. I tweaked it a bit to fit to my standards though.

So, to clarify for myself. You score points based on how many people said each of your answers. If it's only you, the answer's worth 0; otherwise, it's the total number including yourself. Player with the lowest score for that round moves (presumably) one position up/down. When someone gets the lowest score in seven rounds, the person who's had the lowest score in the least amount of rounds wins. Anything I'm missing?

Also, in the example, shouldn't SleepyKrew get 8 points, and bubbajack 10? (That doesn't exactly change the standings
here
but I think I can see how it might)

All that aside,
/in. Something tells me I won't not join based on the answers to these.

Answer questions, trash talk in thread periodically. Seems simple enough.

Really? I think I can get 20. 1 vs 100's first game was 49.

Admittedly the way the "position system" works is a little convoluted at first, but once you grasp the concept it's not hard to understand. I think it adds an interesting element to how the game is scored rather than just who scores the most points.

Okay, after that first question, SK would be in the 1st position while goodmorning and bubbajack remain at the 0 position. If SK were to get the lowest score again, he would move again to the 2nd position. If one of the other two players had the lowest score, they would join SK instead. This would continue in this manner until one person hit the 7th position. At that point, whomever is in the lowest position would be the victor.

And, no, SK would get 10 points:

Dumbbells = +3
Stationary Bike = +3
Rowing Machine = +2
Free Weights = +1
Swimming Pool = +1

Total Points = 10

If you're still confused, go back and read through a few pages of MoS's game. Honestly though, you don't even have to really worry about the scoring part as I will manage all of that. All the players have to do is submit answers.

I'll probably put out the first question tomorrow, and with a deadline until ~Saturday evening. I'll speed up a game after the first question.

Never be sorry for your little time.

It's not when you get there, it's always the climb.

Dumbbells = +3

He's referring to your third rule in the scoring area.
Players score zero points if they give an answer that matches no other player during a round.
