No pro-town player should ever use the phrasing 'If I were scum...'. It's pure WIFOM and at best it only confuses or distracts town. It isIn post 260, Remilia Scarlet wrote: You also had a pretty bad wagon hop (gif and I talked privately about the exact same point notsakura made about your 141)neverhelpful.
On the other hand, careless scum will use the same phrasing to softly claim to be town, without actually doing it upfront.
Cheery Dog has done it too much, and he has actually pushed for it. Once again I call your attention to this post:
Besides, he's aggressive and I don't like that.Cheery Dog wrote:That is indeed what I said, congratulations on being able to read. I believe the same would happen to any dayvig attempt real or fake. (can't know for sure until I roll scum in a game where someone does it of course)
Regarding SV, vide this post here:
So, please let's leave SV alone for now and hop back in that CD's wagon everyone, thank you!In post 243, Remilia Scarlet wrote:

At this point, I'm willing to go with a CD lynch. I don't really believe that he's scum, but his wagon has a lot more information that could be gained.
If CD is lynched and is found to be town, then we can analyse his wagon, and see who gave good reasons, while others may have just been scum trying to get a townie lynched. If he is scum, the wagon still has some utility.
If SV is lynched and is scum, then great. But we cannot gain any information from the wagon. If he's town, then it's even worse. The wagon on SV is lacking emotion, just like his playstyle. Information from a CD lynch is more than from a SV lynch.
And as RS and undo have said, there are other ways of dealing with SV.

Then you're kind of being obtuse as fuck?In post 285, Empking wrote:Yes.
I mean if you can't tell that what I was objecting to was the asking of whether or not I was softclaiming vig from the context clues (especially considering my being 'vig or scum' is a false dichotomy there), and the fact that you yourself said that no one would ever softclaim scum (duh?), that is extremely sad to the point that I'm looking at you funny now.

SV never rose the question of whether to discern if you were soft claiming Vig. He raised the question to discern whether you were soft claiming Vig or Mafia; you can't rightly separate that into two questions with ignoring the second. If you were separating the core part of the statement, and simply dealing with the Vig part, then that was wrong but from your latest post not alignment indicative. In post 286, Remilia Scarlet wrote:

I am aware of what he asked. In post 287, Empking wrote:He raised the question to discern whether you were soft claiming Vig or Mafia
But itwasa potential way to rolefish me, with the 'or scum' part acting as a smokescreen, made all the more obvious by the fact that vig or scum are very clearly not the only two things I can be here (unless you buy the premise that no non-vig town would ever comment on who may or may not be a good vig target, which is silly).

My gut's still telling me Cheery is the right place to go, even if I'm townreading most of what is now the SV wagon (RB is null I guess).
No one has been able to adequately explain a CD townread to me, and if Cheery does flip scum I'm going to have to reexamine some of the people who tried to get me to jump. number_0ne is correct that this lynch inherently has more value.

Which is exactly why when you're wanting my lynch this badly that yoou don't decide to hop off when it becomes L-1 :/In post 283, InsidiousLemons wrote:I agree with undo's post above, however the problem seems to be not that people would rather lynch SV than CD, it's that there aren't enough people who want to lynch CD. Note: this may be completely incorrect, in that case I'd also MUCH rather a CD lynch.
It's like you want my lynch, but you don't actually want to be part of it.

I'm just going to keep flipflopping between you and RS until you stop being jerks about the whole business. I think the town motivation for why I might jump off your wagon at L-1 should be pretty apparent. The gamestate is actually a lot healthier now than it was a few days ago (I'll admit I didn't know that would happen, but people having to react to the wagon before it goes through can only be good.)In post 290, Cheery Dog wrote:I'm just going to keep flipflopping between you and RS until you stop being jerks about the whole business.
You actually might have a point on Lemons (note the difference between his 'I really want to lynch Cheery over SV (votes SV even with plenty of people on CD)' to my 'I'm actually trying to figure out which one of you is scum'

You had not shown this in thread with the unvote, I assumed it was just that SV was all lynch-happy attitude. I kind of wanted to see if he would actually quickhammer, even though it would be my skin on the line.In post 291, Remilia Scarlet wrote:my 'I'm actually trying to figure out which one of you is scum'
There are some circumstances where not having someone on L-1 is a good idea, but when you're still cheerleading the lynch on as you're getting off, it's kind of pointless. (heck it may even be something I need to add to my hated stuff in my sig)

So this is likely playstyle differences between us.In post 292, Cheery Dog wrote:There are some circumstances where not having someone on L-1 is a good idea, but when you're still cheerleading the lynch on as you're getting off, it's kind of pointless. Seriously, I've been burned by quickhammers so often (Frozen [Majiffy quickhammered a bodyguard pre-claim that wrecked the bodyguard-innocent child interaction (I was said innocent child) that was the core of the setup], Mafia Xenologue (quickhammer after quickhammer on town like every day), Micro 188 (quickhammer on a cop by town)), Open 454 (quickhammer by scum on a tracker). I lost all those games, and in all cases that had a lot to do with why.
There are really good reasons to ENSURE we get claims before a lynch, and it was a combination of that and wanting more interactions in general (this was kinda pre-'all my townreads are telling me I'm wrong', so it wasn't as much for that at that point)
But I'm trying to constantly re-evaluate. Not doing this breeds confirmation bias.

CD, I believe I am making it quite clear that I am a part of your wagon, if not in vote. Please feel free to divine whatever you would from a Cheery Dog town/scumflip in my favour or against. Also the whole "nobody wants a cheery lynch" was admittedly my fault. I misread the votecount and thought he only had 1 vote on him. However, both CD and SV are equally scummy in my mind now and so I'm going to keep my vote on SV simply because he's closer to being lynched.
SV, now that it's L-1, claim. Like seriously.-
