exactly how i feel about dota2 atm
i have massive respect for those that do play both

i tried LoL for a long time but idk why the visual style just hurts my eyes. It's too bright, so i can't really look at it for too long without getting a headache. I also found Dota easier because i played endless amounts of Warcraft III when i was a kid.
Also, ive deiced i know what dota (and esports in general) needs. It needs a John Madden commentator, who can break stuff down for casual viewers and remind people of the "obvious" things. I've tried to get a few people to watch it with me and it's just really hard to understand enough in order to watch. And i try my best to explain what's going on, but i'm an idiot too so that's not a whole lot of help.
So yeah. We need point out the obvious commentator person.

Most casters like toby and LD/godz do a rather good job of it, but the problem with dota is that everything just happens too fast for them to break down every little thing, so team fights can be very hard to digest if you can't instantly figure out everything that's happening.

Tobi's the only one i'm familiar with. And i agree he does. I was talking more about slow parts analysis where they argue about who's going to buy what. I'm advocating stuff being painfully clear.... idk. i haven't watched very many matches, but i haven't ever seen someone say something like "see enigma isn't spending his gold because blink dagger has no build up, the reason most enigma players get blink dagger is that black hole is is most important ability, and has a very short range, that blink allows him to get close quickly and turn fights around" mostly it seems they just say "enigma's very close to his blink, that's going to make them a lot more effective in teamfights" "yes it is, especially since alchemist is rushing that BKB"
idk, just a thought. I suppose they do it better than i would. But i've yet to be able to make john madden jokes about them. "see what they're trying to do is uhhhh.... destroy the towers.... and uhhhh that will let them destroy the ancient so uhhhhh that'll really help them win the game."

Oh, you won't ever find those in a live game, you need to watch tutorials/learning videos for those. They can't go around saying that every game after all. ; P
English casters have a tendency of focusing on building energy throughout their cast and making it entertaining for the viewers, while Chinese casts tend to be incredibly informative. I learned a ton from buying the G-1 league ticket last year and watching replays in-game with 2009 cast (one of the legendary captains of dota1). They tend to spend time discussing overall strategy, what heroes should/shouldn't be doing, and builds etc (discussing what items may or may not be needed, and the what/why of it).
Replays help a lot because you can see if someone's not spending gold, because then you need to wonder why they're not and what they may be saving for. Then, when you see what they saved for, you'll know for future references that "ok, that's a possibility". Say, you see one game where enig saves gold and gets a blink, and another where they save and get mek instead. You'll now know in the future that when you see enig saving gold, he might be going for mek or blink. Try and predict too and think for yourself what a hero may be saving for, and why (what's their team comp/strat, and what's the enemy doing).
Gotta be actively engaged and use your brain too, you learn much more when you try and figure things out for yourself too.

that's the point i'm making lol. I'm talking about it being possibly an accessible viewer sport.
Your first line..... YES YOU CAN. that's what i'm advocating. I mean it doesn't have to be the only casting but an option for that would be neat.
And continuing my obsession with John Madden, that's how it was. Cringe worthy obvious stuff. I prefer listening to it the way it is now. Cause when i see something then i go do it and i learn, see? I was just realizing the amount of explanation i was doing while watching it with people who don't play. I had the commentary muted, and i thought. Hey. I'm providing noob friendly commentary. Wouldn't that be great? especially if we had someone who was actually good at it?

Mm, just thinking how it could work while not making it boring for those looking for more in-depth advice/general player info.
Sports in general have always required prior knowledge to actually understand what you're watching. It's just like watching baseball, hockey, both footballs, tennis, bball etc for the first time.

I've tried a variety of heroes but I've come to the conclusion I only really have fun playing Dota as a strength supports. Sandking, Wraith King and Centaur Warrunner all get shoutouts. With the buff to anchor smash and zero mana blink dagger I'm going to start trying out support Tide because he seems quite fun.

Tide has always been an awesome support due to his ravage. He's dropped off a bit due to the tempo of the game picking up, but he's still very effective early on as a ganker with gush.

I like grey clouds. I can see better.
Also all the hero's i wanted to play were to expensive, so i just gave up. Playing twisted fate every game got boring.

I sat down and played it in the browser once. I've played it a few times in game while waiting for a game. I think I was playing for 5-10 minutes. I ran out of questions rather than failing 3 times.
@Saki: You can change brightness in game if you're running it full screen.
I'm finding him to be an early game god, I can spend the first couple mins just walking around the map getting my lanes ahead but I continually find myself underleveled and poor entering the midgame. As a result I'm utterly useless and unlike Sandking / Tide I can't just head to the jungle to farm up gold / xp to catch back up. Until my team can start pushing towers I'm just a liability on any fights that break out, this generally leads to me dying right when I'd ideally be saving up for my blink.
I suspect a certain portion of this is my builds fault (start consumables / branches -> soul ring -> boots -> wand -> blink -> arcanes with consumables throughout) but I'm not really sure how to mix it around as the Soul ring feels mandatory and with the amount of roaming I'm doing the boots feel extremely good.
Should I be spending more time pulling rather then roaming / zoning to ensure I don't end up massively behind or is it just an unavoidable problem earthshakers face?

If game not going that well (aka you're not getting fat), just get the arcanes. It'll at least enable to you keep up your mana for ganks/farm.
I feel that ES is one of thsoe heroes for which rotations are key (supports get paid contractually (aka only when you get kills) where as cores are more on hourly (lane creeps)). Thus you need to keep making things happen.

I expect top 4 to be Liquid, SNA, NAR, and 1 more. (Probably CNB, I'd hope for E-Hug just cause Jiggle)
I wish I could say that I think SNA will win, but I think most likely Liquid wins with SNA as the runner up. NAR could possibly upset both of them as well. I hope not, fuck those guys.
Interesting to note, both NAR and SNA beat Liquid in Summit qualifiers. Honestly if SNA takes first and NAR runner up that'd be a dream. Or even better E-hug/CNB runner up.
