Rules

General:

-This game has been adapted from the Australian television quiz show Millionaire Hot Seat.
-Seeking outside help to answer questions is NOT allowed.
-For the purposes of the game show marathon, the goal of this game is merely to be the last player standing, with earning a maximum amount of money only being a secondary objective.
-The last player remaining will move on to the next round of the tournament.

Gameplay:

-Contestants take it in turns answering questions in-thread posted by myself, with turn order being randomized at the beginning of the game (a key difference from the show is that instead of only switching upon a pass or elimination, each contestant will only answer one question at a time unless they are the final one).
-A correctly answered question causes the value on the money tree to move up one level.
-Answering a question incorrectly results in elimination from the game, and the highest value remaining on the money tree is removed.
-The traditional three lifelines have been replaced with a single 'pass' for each contestant, which may be used to pass their question to the next contestant in line (who cannot pass the question further).
-The time limit for answering a question is 24 hours from the time of its posting (although you are welcome to answer or pass sooner). If a contestant's time runs out, their pass is automatically used if they had it remaining. Otherwise, they are eliminated. If you anticipate any problems with the time limit please let me know in advance.
-The game ends either when all contestants are eliminated, or when the question for the highest value on the money tree is answered. In the event of two or more contestants still being in the game at the final question, a tiebreaker method will be devised.

Money:

-All money is Australian dollars. No US dollars or other currency is available.
-Below is the money tree. Note that this follows the original show rather than the Hot Seat variant (please ignore the lifeline symbols).

Image

-Once the 5th and 10th question milestones are reached, the final contestant answering a question incorrectly will leave with $1,000 or $32,000 respectively.

I thought the obvious joke answers were only used in the $100 question?
Fickle, cold and harsh or caring and warm
Strongly opinionated or barely invested, but a constant

On this side of the Pacific they used to last all the way through $500! That was regular edition though.

Actually, all the answers are wrong. I've never heard of these "Bronte" people. I'm sure you couldn't be confusing them with that most noble house of Brontë, so it must be a trick question.

With C60 being the formula, the answer of C is incorrect.

Cephrir has now been eliminated from the game and the highest value of $1 Million will be removed from the money tree, leaving PrivateI to answer the new $2,000 question.
