The FBI are a group of pro-town players who form a pro-town mafia, an extention of this is that they can pick eather to kill or investigate each night.

what do you think?

No. A vigi/cop/mason combo is too unbalanced. I wouldn't want to be in a game with these on it.

It could be interesting. I once saw something similer where all the town's power roles were in one mason group.

And they were all death millers.
I have plenty of common sense. I just choose to ignore it.

No it sucks. The claim would be believed because scum would never claim to be a mason group. Then they have cop AND vig powers? That means they don't even have to claim their guilty results, they can just vig. And even if they do claim their guilty results, no big deal, since the investigation ability is collective, and it will take the mafia several nights to wipe out the whole group.

Unless this is a decent size game or the town has no other powers, it's probably already a bad idea to have a confirmed-protown masonry of more than two people...

It would be very, very powerful, making them all death millers in opposition to one large mafia family might start to balance it. Having said that, though, it's a really cool idea.

Also, maybe one would be unbeknown to them a scummer. A mafia mason.
Meh... I got distracted by something shiny, leaving MS. Possibly returnage soonfuls.

I've been scum in a game that had a vig-mason. Not a happy experience.

EDIT: Though that town was overpowered in general, the vig-mason was just icing on the cake.

A cop/vig by itself is nearly to powerful by itself I think, let alone with a mason group too. I see no way of balancing this; If the FBI were killed the first couple nights then the mafia would probably be way over powered, if not then the town would be.

This gives me an idea for a game...

all the town's power roles and one townie are in one mason group, and are all death millers with one mafia in the group.

The mafia are also a cult. That is, a killing cult.

Seriously, if you're going to make the role, at least give it a different name, like Posse or something.

Isn't pro-town mafia kinda an oxymoron...

I'm pretty sure what he said was mafia, and call me a literalist, but what people say is more relevant than what they mean, yet less relevant than what they actually do.

Call it a posse, but it doesn't exist at the beginning of the game. Something has to happen to activate it, such as maybe a cop being killing in the night. That way, it might be powerful but the town can't have it right away and will be down a cop when they do. The posse members might not even know they'll be in a posse later and start the game as townies.

the role would be sweet if they were the actual mafia and didnt know it

heck make their investigations paranoid or different by person.

The other possiblility is to make the mafia aware that such a group exists, let there be no docs in the game, and let the town have no other powers. Perhaps moreover, don't let the "posse" talk at night, they just know each other to be innocent, and perhaps aware that the mafia know of their presence. It gives them added incentive to stay hidden, and allows the mafia to work to find their presence via their interactions with each other.

I'm growing open to the idea after some major tweaks.

Thesp proposes a nice idea. The group has to want to stay hidden, they are waaaaaay too powerful as is. I like a hidden scum/death miller combo.
