First, why are people still pretending it's RVS? I mean, we could make random votes forever and ever and it would be fun and all but we'd never actually get to lynching anyone.

As for why I think the sharpest knife on tree is actually not so sharp after all, their post adds nothing really to the game. They make sure to show off the fact that their vote is truly random and all, but what's the point? It's safe for scum to do because tn and others before them have still used RVS-style reasoning to justify their votes, but tn is actually showing some rebellious town attitude, other people are actually interacting, sharpest-knife-on-tree is just sitting there... making a random vote and then retreating back into the shadows of Dr. Evil's lair.

PEdit: I liked the reasoning shown in 18. It seemed like he was actually looking for things rather than defaulting to just RVSing through the first page.

I'm a bit leery of voting over a random.org vote. While random.org votes are more or less the most anti-town possible RVS votes, they probably come from scum less often than from town (and, even more likely than that, from players who enjoy being anti-town regardless of alignment), just because they (rightfully) cause a shitstorm whenever someone uses them.

I'm more interested in tn putting a vote on someone who was probably the topic of more "real" (take "real" as strongly as you like and I still believe this to be true) discussion than anyone else and then downplaying it as being a purely arbitrary vote. While dull-knife's vote was likely just an indication of an anti-town playstyle, tn's vote was a conscious refusal to accept any previous discussion on BPC as having been the least bit meaningful, which I see as a stronger indication of not seeing a need to look for scum than I see dull-knife's TrueRandom vote as an indication of trying to avoid giving information.

It's less the random.org nature of the vote and more the timing of it (and complete lack of anything else) for me. I am not familiar with Sharpest as a player though.

I am hesitant in agreeing with you when it comes to Tn, as I think his apparent lack of care for what people think of him is indicative of town, but it could be something he's able to replicate as scum, so I'm by no means decided there.

I've done a little research into sharpest. That's all I'm going to say about that.

What I see from tn isn't a lack of care for what people think of him. What I see is a desire to not appease me, which fits in well with what I'd expect of him as a player based on his discussion persona. I don't see it as alignment-indicative.

While I think this might betrue, I do not think it ahould be enforced. See, when someone uses ransom.org or the random dice tags, they automatically take responsibility off their chest. To me, this is a reason for vote.
