My two-cents...
First of all, congratulations to the scum team on their perfect win! I don't even remember Prof Fridays and Konowa ever seriously getting suspected in this game, and MattP's night kill choices were, to say the least, incredibly
on point
.
Moving on to why I wrote this game, I tested my fair share of roles and mechanics over the years, and I finally decided that I was ready to write a game that would show off all of my cumulative experience as a mod. Instead of focusing on a special mechanic or unusual cast of roles to make the game special, I decided to keep it as standard as possible. I also decided to balance the game using "old-school" methods, where there was a sizable number of VTs, weak town PRs, and featuring a small scum team. 14v3 setup was the correct size, but only with the inclusion of a Beloved Princess. The final balance was deemed slightly town-sided. This game was also notable for the large amount of time I spent into formatting. ("Everything looks so pretty!") I wanted people to see that much time and effort was expended to make this game
wonderful
.
What happened in the game was a series of unfortunate events for the town. Name of the game was apparently setup spec and quicklynch. After a quicklynch on 4burner, town entered night 1. Scum PRs claimed their roles in their respective neighborhoods, which was met with immense amount of towncred. Ironically, the Tea Party, the only all-town neighborhood, was splintering apart faster than a straw house in a hurricane. MattP landed a great blind shot on the Beloved Princess, while Prof Fridays succesfully rolecopped the Insane/Sane Cop. Both of the Alices dying right away only added to the crazy flavor speculation that was fast overtaking the town, and set up the stage for the Alice-witch hunt that happens in the later stages of the game. After Night 2, Vi made the now-infamous post 755. Another quicklynch goes down on ns (providing very limited info since everyone who posted during day 3 voted ns), and Vi is killed in night 3. Now, Salamence and hiplop both knew that Vi should have been jailkept during night 2, since Konowa made his night choices public in the Court of Hearts. Nevertheless, reinoe is quicklynched without much resistance. His townflip is met with much seething (and much whining against the setup and me! For shame, people...), and town enters day 5, lacking in hope and overflowing in confusion. People begin to grasp at anything at this point. The last Alice is outed before the third post, and Katsuki has no choice but to rush-vig in the face of the witch-hunt mob. He takes a shot among the lurkers and misses (he only had 1/4 shot of landing scum among MattP, rack, hiplop, and Mala), and with the everlasting towncred on both of the scum PRs, the town defeat becomes
reality
.
One thing I would ask of you, as a mod addressing the players, is to refrain from whining about the setup and yelling at the mod
until the game is over
. When the poisonous setup speculation about the Insane Cop + Framer was afoot, I had to keep my silence, as much as I wanted to defend my setup and pride. It was agonizing, and I wouldn't want anyone else to go through something similar.
Despite what anyone might say, I didn't lose faith in this setup. If I could run the game again, I would run the setup with no changes. I know I would have greatly enjoyed this setup had I played.
