Like, I just googled mash potato and all of the results replace mash with mashed.
I guess it doesn't matter because if it was Mashed, D3f would've gotten it right with his first guess, but still.

Mashed doesn't work as well with the B word. It probably still does, but that's not how I'd write the part tense of it.
