if i got a doc invention at the end of day 1 and saw your claim, i would've put 2and2 together to make 4 and protected you. any non-scumbag would've.

So those who are scum reading Boon, where did his claim come from:
A) He made it up
B) He thought of inventor, his scum buddies made up the details
C) Mod provided
D) It's his real role, but he's scum

I really doubt A. B doesn't happen as often as people think and I don't know who on this playerlist would do that rather than just bussing him at that point. C, I don't think I see the Mod going through all of that trouble for a fakeclaim. D, people seem to have issues with the claim that makes it seem unlikely that they'd believe this.

I'm kind of leaning town on him.

c is something mods do all the time. mod-given scum fakeclaims are a thing ESPECIALLY IN THEME GAMES and i think it's bullshit you're pretending to not know that, egg.

d is a VERY REAL possibility. details about the claim are independent of the fact that boon can't seem to keep his shit straight about why he targeted who he did and which ability he claims to have used.

I didn't mean to imply that medea and the crows are scum with boon, but rather that they probably aren't, because they'd have prepped him better. If boon really vigged a townread, Medea's assessment that he needs to die is correct.

I don't think I've seen something like inventor provided as a safeclaim with all those details. Usually, if a Mod thinks up a role like that, they put it in the game. Do you think his claim is a Mod provided safeclaim?

Can someone with more experience with mini themes weigh in on this? I played three in 2014 and two of those were in the first half of the year.

I can understand believing D, just my impression was that everyone thought he was lying. But why mess with his own team's kill in that case? Couldn't they have simply killed Anatole if they wanted him dead? If that was his Night 1 action and he's a scum inventor, that must be a weak ass role and I can't understand why it's in the game.

wouldn't necessarily mess with the kill if they were killing anatole to begin w/ (not an unreasonable kill choice either, he was pretty town).

only difference is it just screws up the town PR's night actions in the process

I'll say it one more time...damn. I didn't give the shield out, because then I would have died!!! I was under the impression that I was going to be the night kill. Me giving out the shield would have done absolutely nothing since I believe I was the actual night kill.

Boon is either Dr. Horrible as scum, or has Dr. Horrible as his fakeclaim. The lightning rod is bullshit to explain why he didn't die. Egg is right in observing that fakeclaims won't be PRs. Question is, who came up with it? A Cabd under time pressure is possible.

Because of the way night action resolution is structured, inventions given to players can only be used next night. An inventor that "gives" passive abilities is just a joat. I'll be a tiny bit upset if our mod made a role that has night actions that resolve like a joat's, but called it inventor.

I wasn't countering anything. I was wary of the Boon wagon because too many people were voicing its support and it felt like a situation where the insane sounding story could actually be true. Plus you're setting up associatives for me with Boon where if Boon was actually scum, that's probably the most shallow not to mention incorrect implication you could make from my stance. It would make no sense for me as scum to observe a scumpartner's wagon like that; if I really did want to counter it, trust me, I'd be playing it a lot stronger.
