I promised nothing! Any memories (or posts) are just a figment of your imagination.
But you're right. I think it's time again.
The concept still needs to be reworked to something other than what we did the first and second times for how we pick the winner, but that's just something I need to sit down and think about.

in the past i've done it by teams selecting themselves. usually prior to sign ups there's a thread where people can post that they want to play and get a team together. in the past there's been a provision for individuals to sign up if there weren't enough precomposed teams, but was never actually used as there were more teams than spots.

a time for sign ups was announced and the first teams to sign up got in. There were no pre-ins other than the past champion if they had enough returning members got in automatically. The next one will allow two teams as they were nearly tied though the Captains won it.

soon my friend, soon. i need to think about what needs to be done to set a timeline for getting mods, getting setups done (which I think this time around may actually be simpler as the last time my comments were, "do more of the basic games."

i actually am considering getting rid of the theme and focusing on other more simply game modes. i know people like themes, but it's not the ideal environment.

yeah, i still want each game to be "different" but the trouble is forcing a theme is a lot worse than forcing a normal game or something. And because of the nature of the project -- make a theme game in basically 3 weeks time to order, rather than when you're ready to do it -- you end up with subpar games. I wouldn't mind flavored or a looser definition or normal or something for a game, but crazy mechanics or role madness or whatever is probably out.

i am speaking from the experience of past years. The problem isn't that three weeks isn't enough time: I've designed a game in like two hours from start to finish. It's that forcing it when you don't have a solid idea of what you want to accomplish in three weeks isn't a great idea.
