The only acceptable play would have been Guts and Initiative as an interrupt. I should have thought to ask. I worry about destiny if you attempt a mission on Hot Dog's turn (which you probably should anyway, with hands this large).

Since this is the first mission of the game, and I don't know how many people have experience with them, I'll be a friendly mod: No abilities or effects that affect skill checks apply to missions. So no interrupts can be played, no character abilities can be used, and no skill check cards will resolve. Missions care only about the number and color of the cards played into them.
