By feelings of inadequacy I mean that he came into the game with the preconception of having done something wrong or having something to apologize for.

JFSF may have something to apologize for besides being scum however.

I noted that he has a negative history with many players so may have had one in the game but I don't think that theory matches him getting defensive over it with regards to me.

It'd be something more like "yeah I did stupid shit but don't call me out bla bla bla".

To the extent that I'm able, it's pretty clear that someone said something in whatever scumchat pregame so Jake was already on edge about me, then similarly to BBT in 1662 went into some narcissistic rage because he was pissed that I caught him so fast and started to project his own insecurities regarding his scumgame onto me.

Hence,

Part of my switch to Bulge was me wanting to think that scum!JFSF wouldn't be doubling down on this after he got voted by Elyse and Oversoul and would know better than to keep going based on a vote from Flubbernugget, who is a useless sack regardless of alignment.

But then I remember that in the game I modded, essentially the exact same thing happened WRT JFSF and Slandaar, who was town.

Frankly, I don't care about all the "meta" stuff that they both brought up and ground into the dirt. I'm not going to go digging into oodles of past games to verify, especially when game play can and does change over and over again. So that line of argumentation isn't going to pass muster with me. It just makes my eyes glaze over.

So I don't have a clear read on either of them. I lean against Jake for the initial defensiveness. I lean against RC for the quick escalation and what seems like seriously-taken dubious logic. The ferocity which RC and Jake end up employing reminds me of my Jack Russell terrier when she's pounced on a new squeaky duck toy, and won't let go -- it's so over-the-top it passes straight through comical and into the territory of the deeply uncomfortable. So I can see how either one could be town, and with egos unchecked are going to play it out to the bitter end.

At this point, if anything is going to sway me one way or the other, it's the personal attacking language of RC, which is admittedly more of a policy-lynch reaction on my part. But I play the game to have fun, and this so far has not been very much fun.

The Bulge as voice of reason looks super town although I disagree with him, I like that he's trying to be a voice of reason where we have two players being rather unreasonable way too soon. MattP's 47 is also a stretch, if not a total misrep (actually it's definitely a total misrep) so that's not a good start for him.

First of all I think this takes The Bulge's "slow the fuck down" out of context. If you look at the rest of the post (41), it sounds more like he's saying slow down on being so certain of your reads than slow down on posting. And even if he is saying slow down on posting, that's still pretty understandable considering posts 7-33 were basically ALL RC and Jake, whom this post is directed to. So MattP is ignoring all context to accuse Bulge of complaining about activity and also his town reads were not absolutes, not to mention a town read is a lot easier to come by than a scum read. So MattP is ignoring the qualitative difference of a town read vs a scum read as well as the fact Bulge said "looks like town v town" whereas Jake and RC were saying things more along the lines of being absolutely certain they caught each other as scum in a bid to paint Bulge as scum.

First guess: RC / MattP / Elyse scum team.

I know that's not even up to the end of page 2 but it's actually pretty dense on content and it's 3:30 and I'm gonna fall asleep. More tomorrow, I'm not gonna have a surprise thing I need to be at sneak up on me like I did today.

Grimmjow:
The real ego is here. Pretty sure he's town, knows I'm town, but is just voting me because I wounded his ego.
That said, I'd have been happy to policy him on account of that.

Lostaway:
Especially after the last post, I went back and read Newbie 1594.
Town got a perfect win but she was basically exclusively voting town and ended the game voting town.
I've seen the anti-town = scum logic from bad players before so I'm actually leaning town even though this slot gives me cancer.
Plus the casual reaction to my waffle comment and continually making it a joke. I'd expect scum to be a lot more worried, especially given the context and how Jake blew up following my pressure.

Neutral but special note for Elyse:
I'd really like to say Elyse is town but Elyse can be the town MVP as scum.
She's with Boonskiies in being impossible to read but instead of just sorta being there she carries her teams.

This slot is most likely scum, but experience has shown that Flubber is in a tier of his own for being scummy and anti-town as hell on town side. Even if it were an IC, I'd be happy policy lynching this slot.

Done to death. Doesn't help my read that literally every scummy player decided that there was probably a scum in this wagon and it was probably me. Yeah, it's likely some scum player put out a warning about me in pregame, which would mean they'd want to lynch me in the 1v1 anyway, but consider how ridiculously on edge about my first vote Jake was.
EPM:
I absolutely hate the way that he jumped on this wagon as soon as I self voted, when before that he was always trying to keep it open as a lynch option but trying not to be seen as the instigator. It's pretty clear that this slot is scum and was just sitting back waiting for an opportunity that no one could call him out on, and used the "scum theatre" line from someone else as that opportunity.

Why are you in this game?

It's pretty clear that these gaps of logic aren't errors of judgement so much as they are errors of him having not read properly and having the game sort of blurred.

There's certainly inconsistencies but none of them strike me as a tactical maneuver besides the vote on EPM which I have an explanation for it that has to be blanked out.

You know this is fucking pissing me off because this is _EXACTLY_ what happened in the Jake!Scum game that I modded.

He created fights between people, got into fights that caused people to reports.

...I can't say for sure how everyone sees you, but I've not been questioning your reads because of your alignment, so much as your alignment because of your judgment. If you get lynched, and there's nobody else pushing your reads, there's a very high chance they'll get brushed off as crappy play.

I guess I'm just saying it'd help if you'd communicate more thoughtfully. At least, it's worked for me, usually.

Like unless we're going to flashwagon EPM or Jake's replacement today's lynch is a waste of time and we might as well use it on me since with players like Grimmjow and Lostaway on the loose I'm going to be lynchbait at some point, no matter how long this game goes on.
