Some bacon is very tasty, some is like just ok. I'm not sure I've ever had a good "bacon flavored" thing.
To actually address the thread, I don't think I've ever been discouraged by someone spamming. I *have* been discouraged by two people cospamming the thread with an argument that has very little to do with the game, especially when they talk past each other.

I have nothing against spam or baloney! I have friends who are spam and baloney.
I just think if you want to spam baloney please do so in the comfort of your own home and not out in public where children and upright citizens can see you.

Good bacon is crispy and juicy. Its not chewy. So I can see where that would be a bad flavor idea for gum. So I withdraw that case but still suggest you start with bacon spam as its 99% of the time a good idea

both games were decisively carried by town power roles
they don't really show whether spamming is good or bad
they show that it was ANNOYING. and that it killed motivation.
if you were reading the game in real time it would have been clear. reading it after the fact doesn't give a good impression unless you are really analyzing the time stamps of each post.
after a D1 that becomes 100+ pages because one or two people want to post bullshit and nonsense over 2 or 3 times as many posts as anyone else, it's more often that people get burnt out trying to keep up with those one or two people. other voices get drowned out. people get lazy and don't want to go back and reread. things get missed because there just isn't enough time or energy to review things in depth.
it's absolutely a scum tactic and it works. and the townies who do it need to, seriously, fucking. shut. up. and let others contribute.
