Claiming is for sissys. I can clear myself without claiming so why don't we all do the same? I hate this mentality.
Scum always has roles that look real and it makes it easy to get scum clearer than actual town with a shitty role.

I apologize that you think it is moronic. It was more a curiosity question and the first thing that came to my mind. You are much to serious. Be a tad more pint hearted.

I agree that claiming is the easy way out, it makes it harder when we do not. However, given the closed set up we do not know the roles that are in the game, therefore a claim is interesting because anything is plausible it will be how people defend their claim that will tip us off to the mafia.
