I disagree with you but I'll just focus on what's important. I'm saying that throwing shade is a really shitty thing to do. It's being an asshole. It's being mean to other people and doing it for entertainment only makes it worse because the entertainment happens at others' expense. It seems like you're trying to say that BRO is being something a bit more artful than a dick when he casts shade, but more than anything throwing shade is just making other people feel small while making yourself feel bigger. When done repeatedly to the same target, it's bullying. The masculinity and the subtlety of it aren't really essential to the comparison.
You shouldn't be so afraid of discussion AP. That your ideas might be criticized doesn't mean you're being attacked or that you shouldn't bring them up. To expect - to order - everyone to summarily go with your nom just because you want them to is unrealistic, immature and goes against the spirit of this thread. And that's all I have to say about your issue with me.
If you're going to openly indicate that you're really against the title nomination because you dislike the gay community, you probably shouldn't be surprised if people take exception to that. I'm sorry that you feel alienated from it.
I think the example Marquis posted is more like cattiness than shade, but they are pretty related terms. The shade-related aspects come from the audience of the head-nodder presumably feeling like they share her fashion values or whatever.
I don't watch Real Housewives or whatever that is, so I don't know the specifics.
I was hoping to insinuate that the identification with the gay community is not accurate. Though I guess pointing at Regina George doesn't help my case.
I'm against the nomination because throwing shade is a shitty thing to do and we have a history of not giving titles for doing shitty things. And I think Bro is more than that shitty thing he sometimes does!
but yeah im not exactly dodging people who take exceptions rn

No, what you do doesn't promote discussion. It promotes dissension.
And frankly, I believe you are incapable of understanding why this title is appropriate and you basically ignored the support it HAS gotten in order to make some meta argument about how some things are never funny and should not be joked about.
Oh and I still have absolutely zero respect for anyone in this thread complaining about titles whilst doing nothing to generate titles they think are appropriate.

I don't think there's anything wrong with saying you dislike something without offering an alternative.
I like shade brigade, but mafiascum is just as much of an alternative than another idea. There isn't a requirement for this discussion to end in a title. That being said, dissent for the sake of apparent dissent is in another world from this, IMO.
