If the gunsmith died on an even-night, I wouldn't get the power, but Lost would. Odd-night-only, I get the power, and I'm assuming Lost's role pm modifier thing had is the flipside.

Actually, the "even-night-only" modifier is before "backup", not before "gunsmith". So it DOES seem like Bob was making Lostaway a backup only on even nights -- rather than a

It seems like Lostaway would have only become a gunsmith if another gunsmith with killed on an EVEN NIGHT

As in, if a gunsmith was lynched that would have been a day-phase kill and so he wouldnt have become a GS either

These modifiers are so confusing

Exactly...I don't get what you are getting at. There isn't randomness. I inherit my powers when a gunsmith dies on an odd-night. This keeps it balanced for scum/town actually.

I think that's why it is balanced. Scum could use it to their advantage by figuring out who the town gunsmith is, and killing them on an even-night to get the powers. pisskop shooting mafia gunsmith on an odd-night, or bro getting shot on an odd-night would give me the power. It's completely even.

Yes, I believe I stated this already too. It's back up for the modifier, not the gunsmith.

That's not how backups work. Backups trigger when a person dies. Lost away could only check on even nights.

Actually, this swings it slightly more so in scum favor since obv that JoaT would do a cop N1 and a vig N2, so pisskop was more likely to hand over an extra GS power to scum

Even so, I think this game was highly town-aligned and obviously should have done without the cop-power pisskop had.

Titus, I've been backup roles before. Haha. I know how the backup modifier works. I understand it's a different form of it. I wouldn't try and fake claim something like this...
