it's difficult to say what Mo'ak would do in character - he's not particularly bright, of course. the strategic intricacies would not matter so much to him - but I also don't think he'd care too much about being discriminated against (he's a half-orc, it's part of life), nor is he worried about making anyone a lycanthrope (if he bites anyone, they're gonna die before it matters). He would be scared about losing control during the first full moon, but if knowledgeable people tell him that it would only happen once, and he and others around him would be safe, I think he would be ok with it - but if people he respect (read: mostly Teela at this point) argue strongly the other way, he's likely to pay attention to them.
You get iron will as a bonus feat. You don't get alertness.
You only get weapon finesse as bonus feat in hybrid/animal form.
Your animal hit dice is added to your class levels for determining when you receive feats/ability score boosts. (which means you're effectively 1 level higher for those)
You're gonna have to explain hit dice to me again I think, because i'm missing something about leveling as a lycnathrope I think. We can discuss that out of thread later though.
I thought of another concern - how does Pelor feel about lycanthropes? I gently worship Pelor because our mother does, but Teela and our mother are devout, and I would be hard-pressed do anything that would conflict with their faith.
Edgar's got nothing against half-orcs, either. He'd boldly stand by his point that they have humanity intact. Humanity does not mean something is a human--a dragon or unicorn or celestial may have plenty of humanity. It's simply a term for defining people who have not lost their souls to madness and become monsters. Edgar fights monsters. That's his duty.
Yeah, which is why they should be cured of their curse so they can go on being people. No one is naturally born a were-person. They're naturally born as a person and the curse only serves to strips them of that.
I don't see how this isn't a clear-cut issue; It's a curse. It literally makes you harbor a monster within you. At times, you have no control over your actions and I believe you never have full control of when you transform. Most societies fear and hate these sorts of beings, and not in a 'strange looks' way, but along the lines of executions and witch hunts. My predisposition on monsters should not be an issue--the fact that almost any organized society will want to exile or kill you should be, though. The only reason to go along with this choice is to grasp a sliver of power, which won't even make much of a difference in the strength in our adventures and in the ongoing fight against evil.
but I think I'm going to seek a cure - Mo'ak is not enthused about doing something that would make his mother or sister uncomfortable, and if Pelor wouldn't dig lycanthropes (which it seems he wouldn't) then Mo'ak doesn't want to be a lycanthrope if he can help it.
There are very few naturally-born lycanthropes in the world. They have full control over their shapes, and usually lead a hermit life to keep themselves away from society.
99% of the lycanthropes encountered are afflicted, obviously.
Lycanthropy is literally defined as a curse. (in fact, remove curse spell is how you break it)
Society is already racist against half-orcs and I'm the diplomat not Mo'ak so the racism won't affect the party that much, whereas the improved meatshield capabilities will be useful.
Who said that?
Chamber. It's all a conspiracy.
Or is it?
Randomly being unable to use your armor and weapons doesn't seem very effective.
Neither does being considered a monster by most of society.
It's not just racism that you'll catch from other people, it's pitchforks and fire.
Edgar's gonna stand by his whole clerical oath regardless, but, yeah. Folks should be informed.
It will probably be the final (and shortest) session of this campaign, where Mo'ak makes his choice about lycanthropy, and then you guys check out the final chamber.
