I think Woody has a good point, and Thor has an answer for it. We'll see if that is a workable compromise between freedom and authority.
I like to take a different approach to early reads. With people I know, I tend to watch them operate and form an opinion from the observation.
On the other hand, with people I don't know it is important to generate interaction of some kind.

Proof that I did read the spoilers can be found by reading past games; in every game except for this one, I use bold tags to vote people instead of vote tags. I'm not sure that me lying about something like that would be alignment indicative, though.

Vote tags are VOTE: name[ /v] without the space, which is not any more work than using bold tags instead.

The purpose of my vote is quite clear - I am wagoning someone with a vote already on them.
Naked votes are not the same as random votes - and sometimes it is to a player's advantage and scumhunting use to be able to see who asks them about a vote and who doesn't.
Expect a few more infractions on me as the game progresses if inserting something as asanine as 'he has been scum in other games with me' counts as 'not random' I fail to see the purpose of the rule. How about - 'I voted her because her name starts with a C' that is just as game viable.

I don't see any reason why you wouldn't believe my explanation unless you thought the only purpose of a vote was to express suspicion, which is something that would surprise me since I thought you were a much better player than that.

That wasn't a random vote. I'm voting Ciara because I'm aware of my ability to read her well and I'm letting her know that I'm watching her and forming a read there is my highest priority at the moment.

I'm kinda fascinated by this because you discussing your ability to read me well seems almost like a threat. We've only played two games together - both times I was town. I'm going to pretend you feel threatened by me being such a great player since forming a read on me is, after all, your highest priority.

Meh, rule 5 is kind of unenforcable in terms of equality of judgement.
Not to mention it pretty strongly goes against the grain of site culture.

If a vote is not sufficiently explained in the same post or a preceding post, or in certain cases, a subsequent post, it is considered random.

Nachomamma8 was given lenience because this standard was not fully explained, and because he explained his vote in a subsequent post.

I will add this to the ruleset directly to alleviate this issue in the future.

Plenty of ways to reaction test without RVS.
Needing to provide a legitimate reason may actually get better reactions. Never played without RVS myself but a new challenge is always good.
