Basic summary of my RL game:
We all meet in an inn. The bartender asks us to go deal with some goblins in another town. The other town assumes we're with the goblins and is paranoid. We defeat the goblins. They carried off one of the townspeople though and we will hunt them to their lair next week.

Like that it sounds boring. But it was fun.

I ran similar campaigns back in middle school, and while I wouldn't say the campaigns or my DMing skills back then were of high quality by any means, my friends and I had tons of fun for hours at end.

Can you give me info on party comp, playstyles for each PC, level and equipment progression, NPC interactions and plot, frequency/complexity/difficult of the combat encounters, etc?

We are a group who are all currently level 2. I'm a dwarven druid, singer is an elven cleric, notsci is a human monk, and fro99er is a human wizard. Yesterday's session had us tracking a goblin we'd wounded badly back to his camp. We ran into some wild wolves on the way and defeated them without too much trouble. We then got to the camp - I had my animal companion spider do some scouting - he eventually got seen and that began an encounter that ultimately had us vs. 4 goblins, a hobgoblin, and a hobgoblin mage. My spider and the monk both got knocked unconscious near the end, BUT WE GOT EM ALL. We killed them and burned down the camp. VERY EXCITING.

Yeah, it was a fun session to DM. Watching quadz, singer, notsci, and frogger make decisions on how to approach the camp was pretty great. And the encounter was balanced in a way that was challenging but not ruinous. Not bad for my first time DMing!

I can only give him good advice after that

but seriously, he went stunning fist instead of improved grapple, so he's speccing out somewhat differently - and we have a cleric, so him dropping low isn't quite as horrific as it was when it happened to me.

Str 18, boosting Str at lv 4 and 8. (Dex for rogue)
No critical hits. No power attack. Barbarian is raging, and Rogue is sneak attacking.
Fighter, Barbarian, and Paladin are using a Greatsword.
Ranger is using a Longsword and a Shortsword.
Monk is using fists.
Cleric is using a Heavy Mace.
Rogue is using a Shortsword.

Every class is now rolling with equal attack roll bonus. (Fighter/Barb/Ranger/Paladin are using Power Attack)

Wizards & Sorcerers base damage scale about 1d6/level.
