General gist:

We were resting after being hired to fight off the bandits. In the middle of the night, Ivan woke Teela to ask her to help with Isana, who had come down with some sort of disease. It was determined to be caused by necromancy, and Ivan was going to go visit some sort of powerful individual deep within the mines to ask or bargain for help. (This information was given to him by his pet / familiar, a rat named Cheese.) Teela and Mo'ak went with him, with basically no spells and no rage available. Upon arriving, they found a sarcophagus. Ivan asked for help, and was offered "anything you want if you open the sarcophagus." After brief conversation, he opened it. A woman appeared and bit him, but Mo'ak was able to pull him from her grasp, and the three of them raced out of the mines. The woman did not pursue. Ivan was injured and cursed.

After getting some rest, the party set off to try to take down the bandits. Thanks to a couple of tangle spells from No One and Teela use resist energy (fire) and Shield Other on Isabella, the group was able to dispatch the bandits (and their pet murderplant) without too many issues. Lots of shit got found, as posted previously. We collected our massive amounts of gold, and called it a night.

That's the general gist of it. I was writing a summary but Quadz' is shorter and better.

We weren't able to identify the exact spells that were affecting Isana and Ivan, but that they were from the school of Necromancy and of a high level. We were also able to deduce the woman from the sarcophagus was most likely the same vampire from the feast of Marangal's tribe.

You guys were awesome today!

I seriously commend Hana for sticking to her guns/alignment/faith and seeing Ivan through all the way in his dangerous mission. (he would have certainly been killed if he went there alone..... and probably returned to haunt you guys as a vampire mage in near future, which would have been absolutely terrifying in both story and mechanics. Can you imagine having to explain the situation to Isana when she woke up? )

I do agree with the bandits first, and the vampire second prioritization. Bandits without their leader (Harriet) is pretty much easy XP/gold just waiting to be picked up, especially now that they had a hefty bounty placed on them by the guildmaster.

The combat part went pretty smoothly. For Hana, I think dual prep'ing resist energy over shield other would probably have been a better choice. Poor Mo'ak took so many fireballs to his face and I felt so bad for him! (Meanwhile, Isa tanked like 6 fireballs to the face and took... 2 damage?) Having two shield others active could have been disastrous, since at that point you are at serious risk of death just from damage synchronization from your shield others. (the point of shield other is to split damage among players, not to concentrate them on the poor cleric!)

I noticed that getting vision was a problem, since you guys were only able to see maybe half of the chamber at any given point. (I think it could have been alleviated if GIF moved ahead bit further with his glowing sword, but doing that unbuffed other than invis is an incredibly risky move, since you're just one spell away from getting detected and blown to bits)

Who's spell selection was pretty on point today. The bandit wizards really didn't have any answer to Evard's tentacles. Had you guys fought them in the open, they would have fly on and would have been immune to Evard's, but they were caught indoors and without fly. (Trivia: If the PCs left the camp and missed Harriet, he would have directed an ambush in the dunes with his bandits, instead of just waiting inside the hideout for death like the leaderless bandits did.)

The thing was...we didn't even need to go. I could have just waited for my spells to refresh and Isana would have been fine.

Now I need to wait another day to get rid of that curse on Ivan or Isana is going to kill me.

Also, you're dang right I went. I had enough of people dying when I can stop it.

This was my favorite part of the encounter.

I liked the tentacle thing. Unfortunately, the placement of the spells made it incredibly difficult for either side to attack each other until those caught in it died. I didn't even know there were other mages in the chamber aside from Gif pointing them out (which was fine because the plant thing had to be dealt with). I'm just curious as to how much damage the plant could have done had it landed any of its attacks.
