I am also going to advise and encourage inter-party communication for character creation, since party composition is a rather important factor in determining effectiveness and success of the party that can't be changed much once the characters are locked in.

It's an interesting thought exercise to see what would it take to bring commoner class up to a viable level.

I think all 18s and triple to quadruple experience gain will do the trick?

Considering that the entire gameworld is provided by the DM I don't think that's the kind of thing you can get a hard answer to.

So you're saying I can still maybe kill a goblin with it.

you can use anything to kill

and on the other extreme, I once saw a crazy min-maxed hulking hurler build that used really loose interpretation of certain rules

he went around throwing things size of asteroids and moons at people

my friend who plays warforged barb/fighter would often use a goblin he grappled as a weapon to kill other goblins (surprisingly efficient, since the impact kills both the target and the weapon)
