I think it might actually be peso or peseta. I feel like they did use something similar to the spanish one but I don't know. I think Lire and Real don't sound right.

It's not lire, that's Italy for sure.

I agree that the real doesn't sound right.

My gut tells me peso won't be it. I'm WIFOMing, but that seems too easy.

I think escudo or peseta. If I had to guess, I'd say escudo. STD, are you leaning any way?

Actually, you know, it may be real... :/

I've heard real before, I know I have. I dunno if it was Portugal or not, but I know I've heard it before. Maybe it's, like, South American or something. I know I've heard it before.

And....

That's correct! Your total is now
$1450
, 17 blocks to go. Still only one strike, still one shout-out left. Here's your next question:

What famous American brand of hand-cranked phonograph players debuted in 1906?

Is Gramaphone a brand? also is the same thing as a phonograph or am I thinking of something else?

I wonder if this is a Victor because do y'all know those ads with the dog and the phonograph with the funnel and it's listening to it?

I am going to do another
shout out
on this one. I think that's the answer, but I'm not sure.

Agh! I shouldn't have said anything before doing the shout out...

I think let's go with
Gramophone
though. I think if that was wrong, the mod may not have corrected the spelling. *crosses fingers*

Oh no!! That's strike 2!! It actually was Victor.

You still have
$1450
, 11 blocks to go, now two strikes and no shout-outs left. One more strike and you guys are kicked out of the cab with no money!

Next question coming up in a sec.

And that brings you up to
$1650
! 10 blocks to go. Here's your next question:

Pandanus candelabrum, a species of screw palm native to tropical Africa, is a plant that only grows on outcroppings of kimberlite. What mineral does the presence of P. candelabrum potentially indicate?

I do enjoy stumping you guys.

are these questions too hard? I'm trying to strike a balance between too easy and too difficult, especially because you got all the earlier questions pretty easily. also I accidentally rounded up too much when I was calculating blocks from my phone, so...

7 blocks left.

Also just as a heads up, I'm heading to a ballroom comp this weekend and I may or may not be able to check as quickly as I usually do.

I think they're pretty good on difficulty level, esp. with multiple people answering...ramping is pretty hard in general and I think you've done a good job so far

lilith, don't worry about the questions. Believe me, I know how incredibly frustrating it is tailoring trivia questions for a Mish Mash game. Do what you think is right in your heart.

As for the question, uh, I wish BPC was on our team now because I have no idea. I guess we can't take the money and leave, right? Ummm... minerals in Africa. I know Africa is known for precious stones like Diamonds. I don't know how that relates to this question necessarily. I'm trying to think what specific mineral may attach itself to a palm... I want to say a precious mineral of some kind, but everything I think of sounds ridiculous. Carbon?

The answer was diamond; since diamonds are made of carbon, I think I have to give that to you. (I mean, if the plant indicates the presence of diamond then it certainly indicates the presence of carbon.)

With 3 blocks to go, you're at
$1850
. Here's your last question:

What affluent California zip code is featured in an American television franchise that includes the series Melrose Place and Models Inc., as well as two shows with the zip code in their titles?

If you get this right, you can walk away with $2050!
