Teasing is best done directly. I've never seen a subtle tease. If TTH meant those as obvious crumbs, their position on claiming would be different as finding out who could be recruited would happen. TTH is big on PoE.

That being said TTH tends to be more cautious, so blatantly crumbing makes no sense.
