It's very snowbally yes, but it's also snowbally against town because if one of the principal townreads is scum you get no indicators that this is the case and nothing tells you to change course.

One idea I had is that the game starts as 8 players lynchless day to players can make rooms and sort out bodyguards but taking away a lynch.

that's true too, not having to answer the "why aren't you dead yet" question is a blessing for people with townier scumgames. it might need a few more runs to find out if it's town sided or not.

making the bodyguards 1-shot wouldn't hurt town too much because you still have 7 bodyguard shots to try to reck the nightkill with but you couldn't use the same people each night.

I still have a lot of songs left if people want to give it another go with the updated get a room mechanic. I was going to do a mini next but the setup is still very much a rough draft and i'm not sure when I'll finish it, so that can wait.

I think one thing that could have really helped scum is that they got their room on page 5 and after that they didn't have to worry about slipping that they had private talk with each other and associative tells (which is one of the main things i look for in my own towngame) could easily be explained away by the neighbourhood.

I'm not sure I'd like the edited room mechanic nearly as much, though I understand it made an incredible amount of work to deal with.

1) Since it came up in a couple rooms, what was the "promise me you're not scum" thing about?
2) Why did you lie to Bins about Jester bodyguarding me, and lie to me about Bins bodyguarding me? Was it in case I was scum and killed Bins to make it look like I was targeted?

What about the edited mechanic do you dislike the most? Can you think of a way to make it better?

I don't want to have hundreds of PTs in a large game, but I do like the way you guys used the mechanic and it was really fun to watch all of the rooms.

I was curious how different people would react to it and wanted to compare notes in post-game about it.

We should compile all the responses and analyze.

It's mostly just the fact that I like having a room with every single player so I can scumhunt individuals more efficiently.

I mean if I didn't have the room with Postie I'd have scumread her the whole game and if I didn't have the room with NS I probably wouldn't have realized he was scum.

I'd definitely play another go with the updated mechanic but I'd much prefer at least access to two PTs and I'd prefer with unlimited.

Perhaps a good idea would be to use two moderators and have one do VCs and lynches and one handle rooms?

the new mechanic would be one new PT per day phase. so on day 1 each person could have a new PT (up to 4 in a 9 player game, maybe 2:2:2:3 or 3:3:3 or 2:2:2:2 and 1 person is left out, or some combination) and then on day 2 you could combine in a different configuration of new PTs.

the early game suffered a bit from the inactivity in the main thread, i thought.

the backup moderator idea is a good idea. for a game of this size i can handle it myself but a game with over 50 PTs would just be chaos I think.

That would make the maximum 24 instead of 36 which isn't terrible in a micro (and in practice it would probably be less because some people might die without having all of the PTs they could possibly have, which happened here; the max was 36 but there were only 22 PTs)

13 player mini theme that gets to 3p lylo could have: 13+11+9+7+5+3 = 48 PTs. This isn't terrible because it's spread out over a longer period of time. Making 36 PTs in a single day is a lot of work, but making 7 in a day and then a few days later making another 6, and then not having to make any for a couple weeks, that's more doable.

2 PTs per player per day would be terrible in the 19 player large theme I want to run (99 potential private threads = no. not even with 3 backup moderators.) 1 PT per player per day in a 19 player game would max out at a much more reasonable 45 PTs.

but i'm not eligible to run a large theme yet.



We could try the 2 per player per Day phrase rule in another micro; you wouldn't be allowed to have a new one if the one you got this day phase is still unlocked (they only stay open for 48 hours, then reopen each night phase. this is to prevent stagnation in the main thread which I think killed the game a bit in the beginning.)

so start of day 1 you get your first PTs, then 48 hours later those lock and you get your second PTs, then 48 hours later those lock and then you don't get more PTs for a while, the day phase ends, all the PTs unlock, next day you can have more PTs.

I think I understand why you want the limit to be two, not one. It allows for whisper networks on day 1 instead of having to wait for day 2 to form them.

yeah, that sounds good. and yes, I think it's really important because this setup is mathematically INCREDIBLY scum sided for town to be able to communicate.

if you were scum with jester and notscience was obvtown with tere and bins and everything else had been the same, what would you have done? what would you have done about the town bloc that you couldn't kill with players like notsy and bins who have a lot of history together if they'd managed to form rock solid reads on each other?


In a future setup, like a more normalish setup like you'd see in little italy, with get a room tacked onto it (and therefore being run in the mini theme queue), or in 19 player rolemadness (assume that it's reviewed for balance by somebody competent), would 1 room per person per day phase work?

I mean we've established Bins's NS read isn't rock solid at all.

I was pushing that in this game as well, if I was scum I'd probably do the same.
