Getting to Chicago

There are plenty of different ways to get here; and once you're here, to get around.

Air

Chicago is served by both O'Hare international Airport and Midway International Airport. Both airports have access to the CTA train system as well, so getting to and from the meet venue can be done without a rental car.

Train

Chicago is served by a major long-distance Amtrak rail center that has stops on 16 different routes. Grand Central Station is also linked into the CTA blue line for easy venue access.

We are also served by several Metra rail lines; which means that scummers living in the greater Illinois a; as well as scummers in Indiana or Wisconsin, can take the train in.

The CTA "L" system runs within Chicgao and a few suburbs.

Car

Driving is an option to get to us. Parking within the city is limited, but if you're willing to park your car in the suburbs then take transit into the city, parking can be relatively inexpensive. Check Google maps for the routes.

Uber is VERY big in Chicago. There's usually a driver within two minutes or less of you at any given time.

And of course, some of us CCCP-ers have cars, so a ride is always an option, depending.

This is one upside to Chicgao; if you're nervous you can always get a hotel line along the L and be to and from the meet easily.

Yeah; DFW-Ohare connector is the way to go. My mother's in fort worth; and it's a super easy connector on whichever airline you'd like. I'm an American/US Airways person thanks to penguin; but even that's well under 200 round trip.

Shea's place is designated home base. From evanston, it's like 30 minutes on the train.

It's also a 30 minute train ride from the loop.

If we went air Bnb; 1.2k for the entire meet; divide by let's say.. 30 people would be 40 bucks a person; 15 of whom would be sleeping there the rest spread out throughout host apartments.

It's viable if we get more than 20 people willing to stay.

It would be $50 a person for a three night stay (which beats the price of a hotel, fyi, out-of-towners); venue would be ours form Thrusday 3PM to Sunday @Noon.

I'll toss up a survey to gage interest, because we'd have to collect money and book early as possible.

We've got a slot at a Thai restaurant in Evanston that can easily handle large groups for tonight. Current plan is 6:30 PM

The place is called Siam Splendor. It's walking distance from both the Foster and Davis Purple line 'L' stops.
