First, check out the Boilerplate Mafiascum Game Rules. All of the rules on that page apply unless contradicted by a rule below.

All Site Rules apply at all times.

General Rules:


1. Do not use my color (#C35817).
2. If you believe a mod error has been made or you disagree with any action I took, please PM me immediately.
3. Once you are dead, you are permitted to make a single "Bah" post. Do not influence the game in any way with this post.
4. Do not play against the spirit of the rules or of the game.
5. This ruleset is subject to change at any time. If a change is made mid-game, it will be announced in-thread by the mod.

Voting and Deadline Rules:


1. Votes should be made using bolded text (
Vote: Player
) or a vote tag (VOTE: Player). You can also vote for no lynch.
2. A lynch (or no lynch) occurs when a simple majority is reached. If deadline is reached without a simple majority, a no lynch occurs.
3. All days have a deadline of
96 hours
. I may extend this in rare circumstances.
4. Each night will end after
24 hours
and no sooner. The countdown for a night deadline will not start while a replacement is being sought out.
5. All night actions must be submitted by PM or a relevant private topic. I greatly prefer PM.
6. In the case of five consecutive phases with no deaths, all factions who have not yet achieved their win condition lose.

Activity Rules:


1. A prod PM will be issued if any player does not post for
24 hours
. Prods will be announced in-thread. You have
12 hours
to pick up your first prod either by posting or PM (if at night). You will only have
6 hours
for your second prod. After this time, I will begin seeking a replacement.
2. Players who receive three prods will be
replaced immediately
.
3. If you plan to be gone for over
24 hours
, please announce that you will be V/LA in-thread (or by PM, if at night).
4. This is a blitz game, and as such, activity requirements are more strict. I will be forced to replace players with V/LAs that cause them to miss an entire day phase (96 hours or more). You may also be replaced for repeated short V/LAs or other activity-related issues at the mod's discretion. In particular, a recurring full weekend V/LA is not appropriate for a blitz game.
5. Inactive slots may be modkilled as a last resort if I fail to find a timely replacement.

Setup specific information:


See the MafiaScum wiki page on this setup for full details and role PMs.

This setup is roughly divided into three steps.

Step 1: Drafting your Bid Order


Each player sends in a positive whole number to determine bid order. The lowest unique number will draft first, followed by progressively larger unique numbers. Duplicated numbers will follow in the draft order, moving from lowest to highest numbers selected twice. This is followed by numbers selected three, four, etc. times, again in the lowest to highest order. See the wiki page for an example of how this works.

Your bid order and selected numbers will be released in-thread following this phase. This phase will last 24 hours.

Step 2: Bidding for Roles


Each player sends in one role they want from the list found on the wiki page. At most one of each set of roles will be awarded, and who gets the role is determined by the draft order. For instance, "1-Shot Vigilante OR 1-Shot PGO" is a set of roles, so there can be a 1-Shot Vigilante or 1-Shot PGO in the game, but not both. There could also be neither, if no player picks either role.

If you pick a role that's no longer available, you do not get a PR. This phase will also last 24 hours.

Step 3: Playing the Game


No explanation needed. The game will play out as normal after roles are determined.

Please note that mafia have the ability to privately speak with each other during all phases of this game. This includes talking during the draft and bidding phases, as well as talking during the day and night.

Role Resolution:


Unlike what is listed in the wiki
, Mafia players can both kill and use their power. This has become standard over the years in the site meta, and I'm choosing to make this slight change over the wiki version of this open setup.

This is the order of role resolution:
1) Commuting
2) PGO Activation
3) Roleblocking
4) Redirecting
5) Protecting
6) Killing
7) Investigating

The neighborizer role in this open setup can create a new neighborhood each night. Once a neighborhood is created, it lasts forever, and is available for speaking in all phases.

There was more that went on in PMs, which I will not share. To her credit, Jeanne did later apologize.

As for ika, I highly doubt you'll be surprised that your play style of quick hammering is divisive. Personally, I consider it to be an intentional act depriving town of information bordering on playing against wincon.

Possibly my largest problem with the blitz format is that people don't treat it like a regular game. It's not "just blitz" and you should still be invested in the game. I struggle with the decision of whether to run closed setups as blitz because of this. A closed setup takes a lot of effort to design and balance. I don't really want to throw it away if people don't give blitz their all.

Thanks for the kind words regarding my modding, but I thought I was complete shit this game.

That wasn't targeted at anyone in particular and definitely not you, 3dice. Just a general trend over the two blitzes I've modded and the ones I've skimmed. I've seen a lot of people throw out comments supporting quicklynches in RVS or barely outside it, even without claims in one instance, with the rationale of BLITZ LOL!!!

It was actually more of "Rob gets off a bus from NYC at 3am after being awake since more-or-less 3am the previous day and tries to mod." I'm not at my best when sleep deprived. That one was a very derp mistake, though.

In other news, I strongly recommend The Gin Game to anyone in the NYC area. It has James Earl Jones and Cicely Tyson in it, and it's a blast. Very fun play.

that I enjoy watching coming nowhere near the game. For instance, I rejected an /in from one player into this game who is not even on my blacklist because a player that I enjoy watching was already /in'd and had the first player on their blacklist.

I'd rather reject the /in of an objectionable player than not receive the five /in's from players I enjoy watching who have the objectionable player on their blacklists. I don't think that's irrational. If I were to allow an objectionable player in, it's functionally equivalent to me rejecting the /in's of the better players who won't coexist with the objectionable one. Why would I choose the objectionable behavior over the handful of good players avoiding it?

I should also mention that my blacklist is a fairly fluid thing. I don't keep people on there forever. My thoughts are more-or-less that when I forget why I'm rejecting your /in, I should no longer be rejecting your /in. My blacklist is really more of a cooldown.

I think the deadlines are fine, personally. The only thing I dislike is how some mods are using them. 72 hour days and 48 hour nights, for instance, is crazy. Why would the night be 2/3 of the day? That's something mods will gradually figure out, though.

I was going to take a break from modding, but I've been kicking around an idea for a while now, and it's intrigued me too much to let it rest. I'm an addict, go figure.

I guess I don't get why 72 hours/48 hours for reflection is better than 96/24, where you can use the extra 24 to both reflect and do stuff.
