I mean C3PO and Unkar Plutt are pretty poor fakeclaims considering R2D2 and BB8 have both not been claimed yet. Leia was probably a fakeclaim for one of the dead scum, maybe one of R2 and BB8 the actual fakeclaim of the other, but idk.

So his story is that he accidentally hit the "2" button on day 1 and meant to press the 1 button, because they are so close to one another.
