Chess thread

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Tue Oct 09, 2007 3:04 am

Who wants to play a game of chess?
Or if you want to be white
You sign up by making a move using chess tags, quote this post and strip the quote tags, text and board(s) you're not playing if you're lazy or don't know how the tags work. Please fill in your own name instead of not specified.
Seeing as this game goes slow, I will prolly be able to play multiple games. It is mandatory you at least include the black and white tags so games don't get mixed up. Also, I would highly appreciate the use of Algebraic notation, you can leave the move numbers out, though they do make the game easier to read and prevent errors.

I'll play as black. Or both, unless you want to play multiple games against different people. (And I can just edit your post, because I'm l33t like that.) I'm a bit rusty and have been meaning to get back into chess.

Erhm... I planned to use that first post as a mould other players could copy into their post. It's ok with me to play in one post, but not post 0. Restored my post and added a chessboard with my move on it in your post. Let's play there so other players can use my post to
copy paste
quote crop.

*addit (combination of added and edit)*Also, bwech, sicilian is not really my favorite. Always been too lazy to go learning openings, so don't know how to play it, and it's got like a dozen varieties. Luckily, you don't have to really know it to play it: moves that feel sound usually are.*addit*

I didn't know we had chess tags here... impressive.

And no, mith losing results in modkill.

modkill seems so... unfair. If you can't stand it you lost, keep it limited to grudgelynches. btw.
Vote: mith
for playing an opening that is way too common and very annoying :P.

Can I request a game with mith?
I like his name... ;)

Garnasha: you don't have to request that, just put a board in your post with the players specified. Of course, you still have to make sure the other person wants to play with you. I'll put a board here for you: (btw. whee, moddie colors xD)

He doesn't *have* to, but it would be less confusing. I'll leave that up to him. As well as whether he wants white or black. If I'm white, 1. d4.

bubka:

Code: Select all

[chess][White mith][Black bubka]
1. d4 a6
2. e4
[/chess]

You can just add moves in Algebraic notation... the chess tags are l33t like that.

(And 2. e4 is my move, not just an example.)

a6 as your first move? Interesting opening. I've seen a7 and more common, b6 but never a6.

Yeah, that's fine. I'll be pretty cool if you change moves that I haven't seen as long as you're honest about it. don't go moving pieces back after you realize they are screwed.

I would, but I need someone who sucks as badly as me.

If you have problems with the Sicilian, why don't you play the Alapin variation against it?
