I'm pretty sure I could buy some of that with ten million dollars!
Honestly there's v little I wouldn't do for ten million. I could buy new robotic arms and legs.. buy a new girlfriend..

It's not. it's less than a standard deviation. being almost x standard deviations away from the average would not be meaningfully different than being over x standard deviations away. IQ points don't scale with life success in the way that most people think; it's best to be about 1 standard deviation above average, 2 is still okay. Much higher than that and chances of success start going down again.

It's likely that there's only one person in my city who scored higher than me. If I lost 10 points, it'd be likely that about 10-15 people scored higher than me. This wouldn't change my life in any meaningful way. I would also be just as unemployably disabled if I gained 10 points. I'm not in the range where slight fluctuations like 10 points would make any difference whatsoever.

Never going hungry again and being able to move in with my girlfriend, however, would improve my life quite a bit.

No, but I think I'm happier being smarter and less rich.

Or at least, I think I would be so devastated by becoming dumber that it wouldn't be worth it. If I'd never had the 10 points to begin with, that might be a different story. Feeling yourself being unable to think the way you used to would be agonizing.

Imagine the sudden transition between mathematics being intuitive to me, and then having trouble learning it. Even $10M wouldn't compensate for that huge shock to my self-esteem.

I just said no because I'm happy with who I am, and losing 10 points might affect my personality which would make me a different person. I wouldn't want that for all the money in the world.
