as for why I don't believe a cop claim? it's because it's claimed a guilty on me.
I didn't push the Postie lynch yesterday even though I was fairly certain she was scum because I wanted her to check me so I could verify her alignment.

calvary didn't deal with Postie's claim in a way that suggested it was a legit cc.

because lynching ircher is a flip between lynching one scum (if scum) or lynching an investigative and two scum (if town)
while lynching you is a flip between lynching two scum (if scum) or lynching a backup investigative and a scum (if town)

and the latter just seems more appealing to me
