True, but that's assuming that he's more likely to die by NK. Some people don't get NK'd a lot (I'm one), so if he thinks he's more likely to be run up, it's better to claim now than at L-1.
In any event, I at least understand the claim on the principle of negative utilities should claim sooner rather than later.

If he gets lynched we loose a day phase. I think claiming it early makes sense 'cause if we run the poor guy up and he goes "I'm a beloved prince/princess!" what do you think'll happen? Everyone's gonna be like "oh he's claiming an

type role and he's scum for it. LYNCH IT WITH GREEK FIRE!" I also think the role kinda makes a ton of sense in the setup. I mean mayyybbbeee its just a good scumfakeclaim akin to scum claiming miller at the start of a game to coast. I'm mean its not the end of the world if he were to get lynched early but we'll see what his play is like.

His entrance was slightly awkward and he didn't question me when I called him scum for it, just said "nope".

A little of both. If he's town, a negative utility claim makes it extremely easy for scum to start throwing shade, especially if he starts building up any sort of attention on his own. I disagree with the idea that people would have speed lynched him if he claimed with a wagon starting, because that argument could be used with any claim. Once somebody claims, they're usually re-evaluated. As for people reading him, I think any sort of claim should be NAI this early (excluding mod confirmed).
