@GiF: Is this being played on an impossible evolutions emulator. If it is not, would it be too much effort for you to restart it there so that Machamp, Steelix, Gengar, Alakazam, etc are discussions we can have?
What I can do is applying NTEVO patch so that the pokemons that require trading to evolve has different requirement for evolution. (e.g. Kadabra evolves to Alakazam at Lv 42.)
And iirc the save file is still compatible.

If you do apply the patch, I demand that you catch and evolve every single pokemon that would otherwise evolve only by trading.

I can't tell if you're against fun or if you legitimately don't realize how easy the game is without artificial restrictions.
to be fair, I'm ready with anything that's thrown at me because I can at least beat the champion no matter what I do unless people act like bunch of jerks and release every pokemon I catch. (With that said, I'm going to limit releasing pokemon by 3. 1 is already used on chimchar at 52).

what does floatzel offer that gyarados doesn't, though? gyara has better defenses by far, plus intimidate utility. the only drawback is, you know. magikarp
