I'm not answering. You said either him or you are going to out a softclaim that seems to have gone unnoticed. I'm asking you if you think that's a good idea and why? I'm not answering whether you or gamma should be the one to do itIn post 799, MiniDeathStar wrote:Please don't answer instead of Gamma. I'm trying to get him to talk.-

No, this is literally the list order on the first page. I was just messing around with people. In post 801, Creature wrote:Is this townier to scummier?
The theory (Gamma's theory) is that outing softclaims helps town because scum are actively hunting for them and have likely seen them already. In post 806, lane0168 wrote:I'm not answering. I actually kind of agree with it, but I wanted to remind Gamma of his own standard of townplay and maybe nudge him to reread carefully.

Well first of all, scum aren't the only people who should be searching for softclaims. Doctors, watchers, etc need to do that too.
Second of all, I wasn't even looking for it but I noticed it anyway. I think there's a good chance scum has, too, and they are going to share it in their scum topic. Why shouldn't town know something scum knows?
And yes, there is a difference between softclaims and breadcrumbs. Softclaiming is like implying your role indirectly or hinting at it ("who should cop check tonight?"). Breadcrumbing is basically cryptography ("Ican tell that from those3people on the wagon, oneprobably is scum" spells out cop).-

Yes I can agree with what you are saying, but I also didn't see any crumb or softclaim, not everybody would see a crumb or a softclaim, bringing it out into the open so that every tom dick and harry now is aware of a softclaim or crumb and will go hunting for it.In post 809, MiniDeathStar wrote:Well first of all, scum aren't the only people who should be searching for softclaims. There is zero need to bring things that may have been hidden in a message out into the open. You'll Never Walk Alone!-

Spade had already explained it long back, Gamma. In post 745, Gamma Emerald wrote:
Fixed thisMy scumreads are by strength:
Creature
Alban
Charloux
Reads based on these:
Twist is lock town due to Creature's push
Spade scummy based on Alban's story change
Lane possible Charloux buddy
Independent town reads (for now):
Klingon: like some of his logic
SAJ: that consideration of replacing out due to a game slip seems towny, in response to TT it does not seem strategic, because only tiger moth was pressuring him at that point.
The apparent change in my posts was only because I was not sure whether Spade (and Bang) would be okay in me divulging any information regarding knowing them. They are new to the forum, so I left it to their discretion whether they want to divulge that info. Once Spade introduced himself, it was clear that he is fine with it.
About the change in my posts pre- and post Spade's disclosure: I did not change my version. What I did was I didn't tell the complete truth about knowing him from before. Moreover, knowing him doesn't mean that I was keeping frequent tabs on his activity on the site. I did it twice - once when I saw his profile in the Central park signups thread, and then the next time after receiving Rando's message about gamestart. I clicked on everyone's profiles, and that's when I realised he is still without an avatar. Once the game started, there was no way of telling him without violating game rules, so I messaged him in the game thread. I am surprised you think that scum!me will slip in such an amateurish matter. Even if he was scum and I was his partner and I had to urgently contact him, why will I talk to him about a non-issue like having an avatar? It's the most ridiculous theory anyone could come up with. Last game it was saying 'RVS' and now this.<Embrace The Void>

If it's made in a way that stands out (bold text, writing patterns), yes. Any "obvious" softing needs to be shared. In post 791, MiniDeathStar wrote:Hey Gamma.

I wrote that because someone had posted a soft in bold and a townie didn't state that and the PR got lynched. In post 807, MiniDeathStar wrote:

Huh.In post 808, lane0168 wrote:But it doesn't say anything about searching for softclaims. All you've done now is notify scum that you think you've found a softclaim and for them to go search for it. I didn't notice any softclaims. It's there a difference between softclaims that go unnoticed and crumbs?
Crumbing actually describes it better.
Thanks lane!<Embrace The Void>
