Let's skip the details. The important thing is that the five of you are very important. You're referred to by others as, "The powers that be", "The movers and the shakers", or, sometimes, just "Them". The fact is that you make things happen, sometimes for the advantage of others, but usually for your own. All of you have some love of your country, but there are other forces at work. In the end only one thing is important, to be in the inner circle.
Rules:
Every player will be given three motives. One of these is patriotism. The other two are random. They may be patriotism, or connections to one of three conspiracies. Players will also randomly receive abilities and restrictions. First is the night phase. During the night phase players may communicate privately or openly with any player. Each conspiracy may choose one player to attack, or choose not to attack. Players may enact their abilities. When the moderator has received all choices, the dawn phase begins. In the dawn phase, attacks are revealed, and the player who was attacked the most must reveal and discard one of his motives. Also, one conspiracy connection may or may not be randomly exposed. Some connections, including all patriotism motives, cannot be exposed during this phase. Then the day phase begins. During the day phase players may only discuss publicly in the game thread, and may, by majority vote, force one player to expose a motive. When a majority is reached, this player reveals and discards a motive. Then night begins again. If a player exposes all of his motives, he is irrelevant to the game and may no longer participate. Play continues until only one motive remains between all of the players. Any player who is still in the game, or whose last exposed motive matches the remaining one, wins.
Daytime discussion must take place in this thread, night time discussion may take place anywhere except this thread and between anyone.
Day ends when a simple majority of votes is reached.
Night ends when the mod receive choices from all players.
Deadlines will be at the discretion of the mod.

If a player expects to be unable to play for a period of 48 consecutive hours or longer, he should inform the mod.
