I'm actually looking for an EPL team to start cheering for (I'm an American). I don't want to choose Tottenham, because a popular American sports columnist looking to get into EPL adopted them as his favorite, and I want to be different. (You should be proud, though; he did extensive research, including soliciting e-mails from fans of every EPL team, and came up with Tottenham as his choice.)

My brother's decided to be an Arsenal fan (presumably because his favorite American sports teams regularly crap the bed, so he wanted something to cheer for in at least one sport).

So... who should I choose? My primary concerns are the following:
1. I want a team that's likely to stay in the Premiership.
2. I'd like a team that has at least one decent American player (nothing wrong with cheering for the countrymen).
3. I'd like a team that actually plays offensive football. If I go through the trouble of watching a team play from the States, I don't want to see two shots on goal.
4. Perhaps least importantly, I'd be happiest with a team with a cool name (like the Wanderers or the Rovers).

(And, most importantly, the team I adopt can't be one of the Big Four.)

Any thoughts?

Although this thread is old im sure as soon as Spurs get back to thier winning ways you wont be able to stop us posting.

A few reasons for supporting Spurs Stikey ..

*Your brother supports Arsenal(or scum) and we hate them + full off french players. Do you want to be french? if you do-then you can buy this french gun from me that dates back to the war. Only dropped once and never fired. ....
*Whats better then rubbing your brothers nose in it when you win?
*Kessy Keller USA...Great goalkeeper for Spurs ...Doesnt play now but lets not split hairs
Thier are rumors that we are going to sign Eddie Adu. A great young player from your neck of the woods.Although this is just a rumor and about 5 minutes old....Well ...thiers no smoke without fire?
*The Name Tottenham Hotspurs.....United? loads of em? Rovers? Loads of em? City? loads of em? Hotspurs?...ah...ah...ONLY ONE BABY!

The big 4 - Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United.

Stikey, dont pick a team because some deluded fan has told you his team are good. And not picking one of the top four because they're too popular is stupid, if you like the team you like the team
Watch a few games, pick a team you enjoy watching
Notice the above will not include spurs.
They aren't enjoyable to watch because they're shite.
Spurs can look forward to yet another season of winning.. nothing.
Anyone catch the game today?
Come on the Pool!
Oh the huge manatee!!

Spurs 2 Chelski 1

An awesome game with an even more awesome result. Ledley King was an absolute hero. If only we could keep possession more!

Stikey, how about West Ham? They've got John Spector - admittedly he's not a first team regular but they're one of the most exciting teams outside of the top four IMO. And it's at least a different name...

That'd be Spurs 2, Stoofer. Credit where credit's due.

Anyway, that's just a Southampton fan poking his nose in.

Hey, Mr Stoofer.

I just wanted to say that I was in a bar in Scotland last week and I saw a team playing that abbreviated T'ham or something. And I thought, "Hey... I wonder..." And sure enough, it was the Hotspurs. And I found myself rooting for them.

Call me Mr. Bandwagon.

Yeah I was kidding. Official records show that more than half of the voting public are ignorant cretins.

Do you people who support other clubs not know how to start your own threads? I can show you if you like.

I presume that fact that your are posting here instead of starting a thread about your own club is a result of insecurity/jealousy.

Oh, and if you respond to this by posting here, that just shows how right I am.
