Assassin - 5 Dead.

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Sun Dec 14, 2003 4:44 pm

Post by Wacky »

Basically just the rules entirely stolen from Neo:

It's been done before, and more recently in chat. It's time to bring it back to mafiascum.

Assassin is a game where you are given a target, and must eliminate said target. How do you do this? You sandwich one of your targets posts between one of your own, then email me with a link to prove it. (when you kill your target you get another)

rules

Send kills to me, via PM or email, with a link! Kills without a link will be ignored.

On spacetime

This game is played all over the GL... I mean mafiascum, in any forum (though if any mod or something requests it, forums may be made out of bounds)

Any and all assassinations before the start of the game are null and void.

Threads in The Whole Sort of General Mish Mash that are two player are non-killing areas. I reserve the right to void any kills if I think there has been foul play, but I'm betting I won't need to use this.

On Posts:

You can't double post to avoid an assassination. Two posts by one person will be considered one post, this includes aliases and the like.

No deleting posts to avoid an assassination.

No deleting posts to assassinate somebody.

The mod’s posts are considered invisible, so you can’t hide behind them

On discussion

Once you are killed, do not mention it to anybody anywhere. Likewise, do not mention that you've killed anybody.

Other rules:

Now sally forth all of you! I will announce deaths (in this thread) until a certain number remain (TBD). You may not (when dead or alive) talk about your target to anybody other than me, although dead people may discuss in private). You may not reveal that you are in the game to other players. The only way other should know you are playing is if I announce your death, or you win.

PM me to sign up. Do not sign up in this thread.

Dead (No particular order)

A bunch of people

Remember: PM to be in.

Didn't the Whole Sort of General Mish Mash get abbreviated this way, way back?? (Guess I dreamt it?? :? )

Anyway, if you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

Signups are still open.

Have you considered that this could negatively affect the mafia games, which is why we are here in the first place? If people start making posts in mafia games to register an assassin kill, the other mafia players will take these at face value. Even worse, players of the assassin game may be even more reluctant to post in case they get sandwiched by a competitor.

My thoughts exactly. I *would* play, but then I'd be afraid to post elsewhere.

When you say "mod posts" does that mean you, or does that mean any mod within their respective games? If it's the latter, for example, I couldn't be killed in the Alphabet Mafia thread?
Holy crap, I forgot this site existed.

I really feel like this should only apply in non-mafia forums (i.e. not in New York/Little Italy/Road to Rome).

Yes, yes I do. There are other web sites for posting nonsense, and I encourage you to use them if you're so inclined. This board is dedicated to playing mafia games, and on the side, we occasionally run other games. In no way should these have a negative affect on the primary mission of this board. This game, in its current format, does.

It is a big issue, and it's only simple if you don't actually think about potential problems. Not only do I not want to play if posts in mafia threads are allowed, I wouldn't want to play any mafia games with any players that are playing in this game as well. They are likely to make posts that affect whether or not I think they are good or evil.

I'm in total agreement with this. It did seem simple and fun to me...but I hadn't thought about the potential problems. In its current form, I won't be playing.

I have asked mith to give his opinion. After all, this is his site and he set it up to play mafia.

I ask you to at least have the courtecy not to start the game until he has given his opinion.

I agree with what's already been said. This would negatively affect Mafia games. Keep it out of them.

So is it ok if the game is played in all non-mafia forums (e.g. Road to Rome, Themepark, Little Italy and new york)? I would still be willing to play under those coniditons.

Actually, under the rules posted, this forum can also be used as long as it isn't a two-player game.

i think all threads that are not games in progress, so the finished games would count, only if the sandwitch was done after the game was finished.

Good point. Hadn't really thought of that. Is the game worth running minus all the mafia forums or should I drop the idea altogether?

The game is worth running, though if you don't do it, I sure will.

So, I believe the acceptable kill areas are:
Queue
The whole sort of general mishmash (but only in > 2 player games)
Mafia Discussion
General Discussion
Site Ideas
Help!
News
Possibly finished mafia games

I really am not sure if that last idea is a good one or not. I believe it is, as long as we don't have any stupid players who misunderstand.

As soon as I know WHERE it is underway.

Queue
The whole sort of general mishmash (but only in > 2 player games)
Mafia Discussion

seems fair enough, but if I could get confirmation...?

Your final list looks good, Wacky -- as long as everything above the "queue" is absolutely out of bounds (completed or not), I think you're good to go.

So the last list posted by wacky is the official oob list? I'm surprised that finished mafia games are oob but it doesn't make much of a difference I suppose.
