How about moving up the Player Titles subforum to the same level as Site Ideas? In post 56, Psyche wrote:I'm very interested in the possibility of improving the visibility of the Player Title subforum so that more users (ie not the usual GD crowd) will be interested in participating in discussions and, more importantly, in proposing new titles. I'm not sure asking Zor to make yet another Site Announcement is the right approach, so maybe we can brainstorm other possibilities?

If it were in GD beside GTKAS, The Arcade, and The Speakeasy, it'd be waaay more visible! In post 76, Korts wrote:And then it would probably be better under the Discussion umbrella instead of in Administration.Half meme, Half real, All Aristophanes ;)- JingleAri has appeared way too competent for me to even pretend to know what they're thinking

No no no that is not what I said. I do not want it inside General Discussion. I want it inside Discussion, next to General Discussion and Mafia Discussion, where it is clearly visible from the front page. All subforums (Speakeasy, GTKAS, the gaming one, etc.) have the same issue of visibility, in that they become footnotes to their parent fora.
Besides, the title conversation is not general discussion. It is specific discussion with a very narrow focus.Last edited by Korts on Wed Mar 08, 2017 4:29 am, edited 1 time in total.scumchat never die-

The index page arguably already has too much on it. I don't mean to disparage titles in any way, but they are not important enough to have their own index-level forum. They wouldn't even have this subforum if I could easily grant moderator permissions to only one thread, though I like how the subforum has worked out with its easy access to prior title threads. Feel free to point people to the titles section, but there isn't going to be a massive campaign to increase participation on an admin and moderator basis..-

And honestly, are we really lacking participation? There have been 238 posts in 12 days in the title fairy thread, an average of around 20 posts a day. Admittedly 33 of those posts are Psyche's so really we're talking about 17 posts a day from users. There have been 45 different posters in that 12 day period, so it's not like it's just the same people going back and forth (30 of those have at least 2 posts, so if we suppose the 1 post people were just posting for their ego search, that's still quite a few people participating in a limited amount of time)..-

Just as a historical note, there were 292 days in Chevre's title fairy thread and 3584 posts for 12 posts a day.
There were 416 days in SleepyKrew's title thread and 2593 posts, or 6 posts a day.
There were 956 days in TBM's reign (long may he live) and 4320 posts* for 4.5 posts a day.
*Worth mentioning that TBM deleted lots of posts in his time, so this is likely lower than the real number of posts..-

I think you should incentivize people who suggest good titles or title ideas somehow.
Back on a game I used to play, people were given a lightbulb icon near their name if they had suggested an update that developers had implemented in the past. Perhaps a similar idea could work here, with a number of lightbulbs under people's names. They could be small and unobtrusive.
This also falls in line with an idea I had to put little medals under peoples names if they had won scummies in the past. They could exist side-by-side, and it could sort of be people's trophy case or something.
Or even if not in the user card on the left of people's posts, it could be in their profile if you click on their username. You would obviously have to talk to the dev team about this, but as the title fairy I think you could make a good argument, which they could understand and respect being that you hold a somewhat elevated position.
P.S. Glad you got made the title fairy. I think you'll make a great one. Also, I'm proud to have titled the title fairy Also also, I promise not to shitpost in your thread. Good luck. I'm excited for what is to come.-

I think "encouraging people to make titles" will increase the noise but not the signal - I.e. lots more titles suggested, but very few more good ones actually get passed. In post 84, zakk wrote:I think you should incentivize people who suggest good titles or title ideas somehow.

I do like Psyche's ideas to bring more attention and publicity to the thread itself so more are aware of it (I literally didn't realise it existed for many, many months), but think that offering incentive to come up with titles will result in a large number of crap nominations where people just throw random crap at the wall to see what sticks.-

You should just take over FACE Day and make it
, like, TITLE Day!
Some sort of special day to honour Titles and encourage new noms! Maybe make it fast tracked that day so that Titles need 1 less Nth to be passed, and make rulings throughout the day if things get the support!
I know that'd take some work, and there's no reason it has to be FACE Day specifically, but it would be a nice homage to Chev fighting against FACE while also raising the awareness of the Title Nom area! You could, ended Massey, make everyone's title FACE, different variations for the different post levels, and make an announcement as to why! Great promo!!Half meme, Half real, All Aristophanes ;)- JingleAri has appeared way too competent for me to even pretend to know what they're thinking

How about we get rid of all other identifying parts of a user execpt for titles.
Like no more avatars, Pronouns, locations or signatues.
And usernames would be replaced with their usernumber.
So the only identifying thing left would be titles. This is my life now

You can't just blanket change all Survivors to "FACE" and all Jack of all Trades to Face etc for a day?
Like, it's probably get so many people curious about Titles!Half meme, Half real, All Aristophanes ;)- JingleAri has appeared way too competent for me to even pretend to know what they're thinking
