Mafia 3 (Improbable Role)

Post Post #0 (isolation #0) » Fri May 03, 2002 4:53 pm

Post by quercitron »

THE GAME IS OVER AT THE END OF DAY 10. THANK YOU ALL FOR PLAYING. SPECIAL THANKS GOES OUT TO THE FLYING PUMPKIN'S ASS. GOOD NIGHT. -QUERCITRON

Restored for anyone who wants to read through the game...

So, we have this Town, Illiarridarisori del riarimundi, Italy, and it's really improbable. It has people and animals and other crazy crazy stuff and nothing normal ever happens there.

Oh, my bad. The Mafia happen, and given that this is a Mafia forum, they're pretty normal. Dress in black, shoot things with guns, want to kill all the Town, etc, etc.

So, the Town decides they're going to form a vigilante force and weed out the Mafia by lynchings, and everyone joins the vigilante force, 25 people in fact, who have names:

Antrax
Beaudoin (later IS II)
Cadmium
Corsato
Dragon Phoenix
eillid
groza (later ralphmerridew)
Internet Stranger
jeep
jesternl
Luna (later Antrax II)
Mike Amok
MiriYami
mith
mole
mudster
Neo
Raamawen
radwulf
SaberKitty
Sir Dynadan
sketchwick
Sooth
sweetwater
Zealot

It is in this state that Improbable Role Mafia begins. Yay.

It was a busy night in the little town, despite the apparent vigilance of the vigilante force. ;Agent 007, better known to his fellow Townies as mudster, was walking down Main Street, looking for trouble or a cute woman. ;Incidentally, he found both, in the form of one of the Mafia disguised as a prostitute. ;Only too happy to share his store of several thousand STDs with her, he accepted her proposition and quickly found himself castrated. ;To James Bond, that is the same as death. One would think that the Town would wake up with 24 people, then. ;Not so: upon the daily examination, only 22 assemble in the Town Square. ;It doesn't take the Town long to notice the conspicuous absence of jesternl and Cadmium, nor the appearance of a squirrel and a strangely plantlike object in their respective houses.mudster (James Bond, 007) - killed by the Mafiajesternl - temporarily turned into a squirrel (cannot speak nor vote)Cadmium - temporarily rather plantlike (can make only one post today) It is now DAY 1. ;12 TO LYNCH

The Town, uncertain of who to lynch and untrustful of everyone, crowds around radwulf and SaberKitty. ;You both have four votes, a voice calls out from the back. ;Time to die. ;SaberKitty objects. ;Four votes, when the majority is twelve? ;This is pathetic. ;Yeah, says radwulf. ;What are you going to do, lynch both of us?There is a voice from the heavens...or maybe somewhere in the crowd.WELL, I HAVE TO LYNCH ONE OF YOU. ;THIS DAY'S DRAGGED ON LONG ENOUGH ALREADY.Rube Goldberg, the Mayor, flips a coin. ;Tails. ;SaberKitty is led to the gallows, an intricate contraption of waterwheels, candles, motors, shotguns, and a deadly rope noose.Wait she cries ;Don't press the button, I'm just a TownieNo one in this Town is just a Townie, growls one of the crowd, who unsurprisingly appears to be wearing black.Click. ;The button is pushed, and the contraption starts. But my role takes effect without me doing anything cries SaberKitty. The crowd almost believes it. ;But it's too late. ;The last red balloon is broken, the last waterwheel turns, the last motor sputters out, and the plank beneath SaberKitty's feet......well, it's no longer there. ;CRUNCH. ;SaberKitty (Veternarian) has been lynched. The Vet had one vote, like a normal Townie, but while she was alive all nonhuman members of the Town had a chance of being protected from night kills. IT IS NIGHT. ;PLEASE SEND CHOICES.

The next morning, after dreaming of a happier, more colourful place, the Town awakes and does a head count. ;Well, a head and leaf count, since Mike Amok seems to resemble a ginkgo tree in many aspects. ;Fortunately for the Town, it seems everyone is accounted for...and Cadmium and jesternl are back in possession of their normal bodies. THERE HAVE BEEN NO DEATHS. ;12 TO LYNCH. Mike Amok - temporarily a ginkgo tree (one post only.)

Internet Stranger, standing in the middle of a quickly growing crowd, tries tirelessly to defend himself, but the strain is too much. Blood seeps from his many wounds, and eventually, weakened by the stress of his torture, he falls to the ground. It is then that the Town notices something strange...despite the cries of his attackers, he continues to insist that he loves them, and a purple liquid seeps out of him, oozing. Then, without a word, he dies.

Internet Stranger was
Barney, the Purple Dinosaur.
Each night he could envelope one person in a cloud of love and compassion, protecting them from any night kills. (read: Doctor.)

With the death of Internet Stranger, there remain only 22 living citizens of the Town. 12 votes to lynch, day is not yet over...

There is a horrible creaking sound, and the members of the Town look around with panic on their faces. It is coming from the makeshift graves in the Town cemetery...

SaberKitty's voice is heard, faintly...

Vote...radwulf...Mafia...

...and then disappears, lost, forever. SaberKitty's body has disintegrated into nothing...

Sketchwick: Mafia members may have abilities, and they may have names, or they may not. They are from out of Town; it would be improbable to expect any knowledge of them to be provided to this group. Certainly they possess the ability to kill at night.

After some debate, mith is led to the lynching machine, and various unenthusiastic members of the Town start pushing buttons. Click, clack, whirr, gleep, etc, and no more mith.

Wait...you would all expect this, and nobody would expect the Spanish Inquisition. Oh well. Whatever.

The Spanish Inquisition investigated one person each night and received a result. That person was also weakened by torture; the next day, 3 votes by other players would kill them.

It was a short and restless night. And once again, the Town wonders if the Mafia are actually doing anything at night, since there are no dead, bloody bodies to be found in the morning. Luna, however, is exhibiting some rather interesting fernlike qualities, and doesn't appear to want to talk much. Thankfully, Mike Amok is back to his normal non-ginkgo self. In addition, the Town doesn't find sketchwick anywhere...but there's a rather large weasel sitting in the middle of the Town Square, and it doesn't look particularly happy. Not that anyone in the Town speaks weasel, but still...

No one died. Luna is temporarily a plant - one post today only. sketchwick is temporarily an animal - no talking today.

11 TO LYNCH.

With some trepidation, the Town leads radwulf to the lynching machine. The Spirit of SaberKitty hovers around, watching the colorful tumblers tumble and the pistons move. "Please!" cries radwulf. "In the name of the Lord, don't kill me! I implore you! I'm down on my knees!"

Someone in a black trenchcoat presses the button.

Swish, bang, click, chop. A scream from radwulf, and he dies. When the Town examines his body, they are surprised to find that he looks very ordinary...

...and then they find the gun in his coat pocket, and his house full of shiny silver knives, black clothes, and, strangely enough, lingerie.

radwulf, Mafia Prostitute has been lynched. Send choices. And I need a replacement for Beaudoin, so I'll see what I can do.

The Mafia Prostitute was a normal member of the Mafia and did not know he was a Prostitute. His role took effect only when he was targeted by various members of the Town, among them the late Bond. James Bond.[/i]

In the middle of the night, Zealot is standing alone, center stage in the Town's theatre. He speaks:

"To be or not to be; that is the question; whether 'tis nobler in-"

There is a muffled crashing noise from above, and a chandelier falls on Zealot, crushing him instantly. One of the Mafia, dressed in black, snickers quietly as he runs away.

The Godfather is not pleased.

"That was the wrong show. The chandelier is from Phantom, not Hamlet. You should have picked something more appropriate, for a great playwright like William Shakespeare."

Not that it matters to Zealot, as William Shakespeare is dead.

Addendum: No plants or animals today.

William Shakespeare had to post in iambic pentameter. In addition, once per game he could 'link' two players. IF two players are linked: if one of those 'linked' players dies, the other will immediately die also.

IT IS NOW DAY 4. 10 TO LYNCH.

Excellent. One of three incredibly improbable scenarios has now been activated. More than some of you bargained for, perhaps...

With ten votes, the majority is reached, and the Town leads eillid to the lynching pole. As he reaches the top of the scaffold, he suddenly lunges, knocking the escort down the stairs and moving away from the intricate machine. But Rube Goldberg has prepared for such an escape attempt - the intricate device harpoons fine mesh at eillid, and he is captured.

It is then that the Town notices that eillid is not a he, but an 'it' - where the harpoons cut into his 'skin' he shows fine circuitry, wiring, computer chips, lights, smoke. eillid is clearly some sort of highly advanced replic...er...robot. Not a replicant. A robot. Ha ha!

(Bladerunner Mafia joke over.)

Tired of the spectacle, one of the members of the Town pushes the red button, and all hell breaks loose. The lights light, the sounds sound, the chainsaws move in to 'lynch' eillid.

And just as suddenly, everything shuts down.

eillid breaks free from the lynching machine, and the voice that comes from his 'mouth' is no longer his own.

"FOOLISH TOWN, YOU THAT HAVE TRIED TO LYNCH MY CREATION. YOU NOW WILL SUFFER. YOU CANNOT LYNCH MY ROBOT EILLID, AS I AM PROTECTING HIM. EACH NIGHT HE WILL NOW DESTROY ONE OF YOU FOR YOUR IMPUDENCE AND YOUR IGNORANCE."

eillid steps down from the scaffold.

"I don't know what's going on-I'm just a robot, looking for my Creator, and I know he's human, but-

"YOU DO MY BIDDING, EILLID. TONIGHT YOU WILL KILL ONE OF THEM. TOMORROW NIGHT YOU WILL KILL ONE OF THEM. AND THEY CANNOT STOP YOU."

"I'll never!

"YOU ARE UNDER MY COMMAND."

"I'm innocent!"

"HAHAHAHAHAHA..."

The Town is stunned. This is too improbable - it cannot be happening - perhaps it is a dream. They abandon eillid and leave for their beds to ponder what has occurred.

Synopsis: eillid (Robot) cannot be lynched until the destruction of his Creator. eillid will kill one person per night on orders of his Creator. Think of it as an improbable Serial Killer that normally wouldn't happen...except in this Mafia...

IT IS NIGHT. SEND CHOICES.

Antrax: The death scene and the comments afterward indicate that the one responsible for the killings is controlling eillid, and eillid does not want to kill. I assure you that eillid's Creator is lynchable.

General note to Town, as I should make this clear: before this incident, eillid's Creator knew that he was working for the Town but was not informed of his Creation's existence. eillid's Creator may or may not be found among eillid's bandwagoners. Do not attempt to gather evidence from previous posts, because the 'Serial Killer' role did not exist in previous posts. eillid's Creator's role is scientific, as the 'death' scene should have informed you, but that is all.

Soothsayer, better known to the public as Lassie the dog, is happily trailing and fetching, behaving like a normal heroic canine should, when one of the Mafia, dressed in black as always, runs him over with a large truck. Lassie tries valiently to get up, but can't, being as flat as a pancake. Lassie has gone to the Great Freeway in the sky.

Channeling ESPER...

Good morning Town. I regret to inform you that one of our number is no longer with us. Neo has been torn limb from limb. By the number of inventions on his person and the fact that the lynching machine appears to be quickly destabilizing it is obvious that he was none other than Rube Goldberg, the Inventor and Town Mayor.

Goodbye ESPER...

eillid sobs. "I didn't mean to...I had to...my Creator made me..."

In other news, Sir Dynadan has been temporarily transformed into a very large redwood tree. Normal plant rules apply.

Neo (Rube Goldberg, Inventor) - killed by Robot X4-6009-2A
Soothsayer (Lassie) - killed by the Mafia

Neo, as Mayor, had the power of his vote counting for two votes. In addition, he had invented several things which he could use at night or give to others. These included a transmogrifying pistol which he could use every two nights, several smoke bombs which could block a person's role for a night, and two fake pistols which were scary enough to force people to reveal their true allegiance to Neo if used. He could give away items or use them, one per night in addition to the transmogrifier.

In addition, due to Neo's death, the lynching machine is now unstable. There is now a 5% chance that any voter on a bandwagon will be lynched in addition to the selected target at the end of the day. This chance may increase over time, or it may not.

Soothsayer, as Lassie, followed one player per night, and was informed rather vaguely of that player's nighttime activities.

It is day. With 17 players alive, 9 votes are required to lynch. At this time eillid cannot be lynched.

Clarification: an attempt to block the Robot, if roles that block other roles exist, would result in the loss of the Robot's ability. An attempt to block the Robot's Creator would stop the kill. The Robot's role is not to kill.

That would be 9 votes for ralphmerridew, but before he's lynched there was a questions:

I assume the 5% chance of dying only applies to those voting for the person that gets lynched. I also assume it is a 5% of SOMEONE dying, then if it happens you select ONE of the people voting. Correct?

5% chance for each person to die.

Without further ado...

The Town leads ralphmerridew to the lynching machine and places him upon the primary platform, which creaks. The machine seems to be in need of repair, but the Town disregards it and prepares to push the red button. Of course they offer ralphmerridew a defense first.

"I'm Moby Dick!"

There is laughter.

"Oh, okay, I have to be a bad guy! Fine then, I sell drugs and I abuse kittens!"

More laughter. A hand reaches toward the red button.

"Fine! Even worse! I'm Mafia! Muahahahaha!"

Whereupon two things happen: first, ralphmerridew pulls a gun out of his pocket, and second, the Town suddenly being smart enough to notice that ralphmerridew is wearing all black and looking generally unTownlike, someone pushes the red button.

There is a series of loud bangs and whistles, and ralphmerridew is quickly lynched, and the machine, groaning, shuts down. No other injuries.

ralphmerridew (
Mafia Scum
) is lynched.

IT IS NIGHT. PLEASE SEND CHOICES.

There is a disturbance in the middle of the Town Square sometime late at night. Raamawen, better known as Sherlock Holmes, the famous detective, is snooping around when eillid approaches her.

"May I help you look for things?"

Raamawen gives a start, then realizes it is only a Killer Robot.

"Sure. I'm looking for whatever seems logical. Mafia are logical."

eillid's voice changes.

"I AM NOT. GOODBYE, SHERLOCK HOLMES."

The Killer Robot starts moving steadily towards Raamawen, and she panics. She tries to run towards a dark alley, but the Robot grabs her in its strong steel grip.

"NOW YOU WILL DIE."

Meanwhile, someone hiding in the rafters of the Town Hall has found the perfect shot. A bright green laser beam lances out of one of the windows of the building and strikes eillid the Robot in the head. Circuits and gears melt, wires explode. eillid has just enough time to fulfill its Creator's last wishes before it dies, and Sherlock Holmes, logically enough, has not escaped its sheer power. Raamawen's neck is broken, and the detective and Robot collapse in a heap.

Sir Dynadan runs at a wild pace towards his Creation, lying inactive on the ground.

"Noooooooooooooooo!"

Someone in a black coat, having taken the time to aim, ends his cry with a well placed bullet to the back. Sir Dynadan crumbles and falls.

But wait! Out of his pocket he pulls a strange, green hypodermic.

"This injection of cytokinins will save me," he manages to get out. The scientist injects the contents of the vaccine into his arm and waits. Shortly there is a change. The bullet wound heals, the bloodstains disappear. And the other effect of his concoction takes effect, as he slowly becomes plantlike.

But the Mafia have taken a precaution against this too: the hypo contained triple Sir Dynadan's normal dose, and eventually, shuddering, he collapses into nothing more than a pile of dried leaves.

Sir Dynadan (eternally planted by the Mafia)
eillid (shot in the head with a laser beam)
Raamawen (neck snapped by Killer Robot)

Sir Dynadan started the game as a Cytokinin and Robotics Scientist. Each night he protected one player from kills by a cytokinin injection, which carried the side effect of transforming that player into a plant (for reference, cytokinins are plant hormones that promote regeneration and healing.) When eillid was lynched, he started giving orders to his Creation to kill. Had he not been killed tonight, he would have become the equivalent of a Mafia Spy. Anything to get back at the Town. Coincedentally, no one is a plant today...well, besides him.

eillid started the game as a Robot who had no instructions except to find its Creator. It could select one player each night and find out if they were human and if they were its Creator. It would have received further information if it had found Sir Dynadan. For now, that information is unrevealed.

Sherlock Holmes could investigate one person each night. If their role was logical, she would be told the full details of the role. If illogical, she would be told so.

IT IS NOW DAY 6. 7 TO LYNCH.

Examination of eillid's body shows that the death was caused by a powerful laser beam of unknown type.

With enough votes, Corsato is dragged to the lynching machine. It rattles and creaks but it still appears to be functional. As the Town, led by Cadmium, leads Corsato to the platform, someone in black secretly adjusts the electrical circuitry of the machine and nods to Corsato.

"I'm innocent, but you won't believe me! All I can tell you is who is part of a group!"

"Back away, Cadmium," someone calls from the Town. "Let's get this show over with."

A hand moves toward the red button, and Cadmium starts to turn away, but Corsato grabs him at the last moment. There is a brief struggle, and a flash of blue lightning, killing both.

The Town checks the houses, and finds that only one of them was who he said he was...

Corsato (Mafia) - lynched by the Town.
Cadmium (IRS Agent) - electrocuted by lynching machine malfunction

The IRS Agent could investigate one person per night by hypothesizing 'rich' or 'poor.' Unbeknownst to him, he only had a 25% chance of receiving any information even if he guessed correctly. He was told that Corsato was some sort of rich businessman who may or may not have been affiliated with the Mafia.

There is another scuffle in the Town Square during the night. The Town watches with the feeling that something very odd is happening. Mafia bullets appear to shoot jeep, but it must be a trick of smoke and mirrors, as they hit sweetwater, who stumbles and falls, dark red blood flowing everywhere. And sketchwick is right in the path of another bright green laser beam; unseen, something reflects it and it strikes jeep squarely in the chest. Where the two Townspeople fall colours seem to splash, painting silhouettes on the ground in a dark haze.

Something changed last night's choices.

jeep (Actor) - killed by a laser beam
sweetwater (Actor) - painted red by the Mafia

The Actors (from the cast of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) were told that they were innocent and that all other Actors were innocent. They possessed a shared characteristic that they used in their posts to identify each other. Basically, a Mason Lodge that started out not knowing each other and that could be impersonated if someone had the right information. They were not allowed to communicate at night.

With 9 left alive today, there are 5 TO LYNCH.

With 6 votes for jesternl, the Town in a frenzied anticipation leads him to the lynching machine. Can it be that they are finally destroying the Mafia presence in the Town? Someone in the crowd (well, less of a crowd now) eagerly presses the red button. It is unfortunate that the Town does not notice that person is gleeful...and wearing black.

CRUNCH. SIZZLE. BOOM.

jesternl is lynched, and the Town searches his home. They find meticulous records and charts, as well as a carefully written logbook of investigations. jesternl appears to be a very cautious, Methodical Cop.

The Methodical Cop sent me a list of all players in the game at the beginning of the game and was guaranteed to be sane. In return, the players were checked in order, one per night, skipping the dead. A bit weaker than a normal Cop, and a role I've wanted to use for a long time...

IT IS NIGHT. SEND CHOICES.

It is a quiet night now that the Town has been steadily losing its population. Antrax's demeanor reflects this quietness; he is not on his guard as he roams around looking for Mafia.

Someone dressed in black finds him, and approaches him from the front with an ice pick.

"You have shot laser beams out of your ass too many times. Now you will die."

Antrax readies his ass to fire, but the ice pick is thrown with uncanny skill, smashing the pumpkin. (Heh heh. Smashing Pumpkins. Heh heh.)

The Flying Pumpkin that Shoots Laser Beams out of its Ass is no more, and the Town weeps.

Antrax (Flying Pumpkin) - smashed by the Mafia.

The Flying Pumpkin was a strong vigilante role. Each night it could either shoot a laser beam at a player, with a 75% chance of killing that player, or aim at a player, with a 100% chance of killing that player the next night if that player was Mafia and a 25% chance if that player was Town. In addition to this, the Flying Pumpkin had a 25% of being protected from a Mafia attack each night.

IT IS DAY. With 7 left alive, 4 TO LYNCH.

In the middle of the night, Internet Stranger was walking in the Town Square, which wasn't a very good idea. He realized this as a man dressed in black approached him silently.

"Oh, no," says IS, melodramatically. "I shouldn't have come here."

The theatrics amuse the Mafia hitman only for a moment, and then he pulls something out of his pocket.

"What's that?" asks IS.

"It's the DVD edition of 'Excalibur,'" says the hitman. "And you're going to watch it, over and over again until you die."

It only takes one viewing, and IS explodes in a shower of colour, leaving a permanent marking over the dull red bricks of the Square.

IS (Actor) - killed by the Mafia

WITH 6 ALIVE, 4 TO LYNCH. CURRENTLY NO DEADLINE.

Lynching machine malfunction probability up to 35% today.

And as the server comes back online, that's four votes for DP (courtesy of sketchwick, MiriYami, mole, and Mike Amok.)

The Town drags Dragon Phoenix (ha ha! draggin' Dragon!) to the lynching machine, and asks him if he has anything more to say about his true role.

DP hesitates.

"Well," he says, "I was lying about being Dr. Jekyll."

There's a big shock amongst the Town. No, really.

"I'm Bill Gates! And all I want to do is destroy Mac users!"

Well, that's improbable enough...except all the Townies use Macs. Oops. As one, the Town pushes the red button. Lightning flickers around the platform, and Bill Gates grabs for something inside his coat. Then the lynching machine starts to break down, and no one can tell what's going on. Frantically, members of the Town start kicking parts of the machine. There is the noise of flesh sizzling, and a muffled BANG. When the lights come back on, the Town finds Dragon Phoenix fried by the lightning.

And mole lies dead in a pool of blood, victim of the Godfather's last smoke and mirrors gun trick.

Dragon Phoenix (Bill Gates, Mafia Godfather) - lynched by the Town
mole (Prestidigitator) - shot by the Godfather.

The Mafia Godfather was immune to most investigations and appeared as a Townie to almost any role that affected him. In addition, upon death he took a random Townie with him (he was not told of this so he could not use it to his advantage.)

The Prestidigitator was a neutral role who could not be investigated or targeted at night. All attempts except killing attempts would fail. There was also a 50% chance of the Prestidigitator receiving information about anyone targeting him.

With 4 players left alive, IT IS NIGHT. SEND CHOICES.

Not voting: 1 (Luna)

If there is a clear majority of 3 to lynch at any time, the person with the majority will be lynched. If there is a tie of 2 and 2 I will set a 4 day deadline, at which point no one will be lynched without a majority and Night will occur at the end of 4 days.

Antrax will be replacing Luna. He asked first, and his previous role gave him no undue information about the game. In addition to this, he revealed all information he knew during the course of the game, so he has no secret knowledge. He has been informed of his role.

The Town (current population: 4) drags sketchwick to the lynching machine (okay, make that three, he can't drag himself.)

As he stands on the platform, the Town asks him if he wants to make a speech. After all, this is his last chance.

He thinks for a while, then grins. "Wouldn't Johnny Cochrane have been an awesome role, though?"

The members of the Underwater Basketweaving Lodge (soon to be three, since Mike Amok has no future as a lone Actor,) contemplate this before pushing the button.

Miri sums it up. "Not really."

With a flash of light, the last Mafia member is destroyed, and the Town lives happily ever after. This one even has women. Well, Lunatrax is, well, sort of both. Hmm. Oh well.

Sketchwick was the Mafia's Lawyer. He was part of the family, and in addition could block one person's role each night.

A list of all roles, situations, night choices, and planning I did for this game will follow tonight or tomorrow, I'm somewhat busy right now.

The Town was somewhat overpowered, but there were things going against them. The possible Serial Killer, the potential for the Underwater Basketweavers to become an evil Cult (could have happened,) the lynching machine malfunctions, the Godfather's extra kill, and the fact that the Mafia Lawyer could not only claim a role-blocking role but prove it seemed to be enough to me (and we had the Spanish Inquisition to kill innocents, and several vague investigators.) More on this later, though.

Congrats to Miri, Mike Amok, and Lunatrax, as well as the rest of the Town!

Congrats to sketchwick for his defenses, and the rest of the Mafia family for killing people. It's so much fun writing death scenes.

THE END.

Mafia 3 - Improbable Role
MASTER KEY
PART ONE
(more to come later, when I type it)

I. The Roles

THE MAFIA

DRAGON PHOENIX - Godfather Bill Gates
SKETCHWICK - The Mafia Lawyer
RADWULF - The Mafia Prostitute
CORSATO - Mafia Scum
RALPHMERRIDEW - Mafia Scum

The Mafia consulted with each other during the night and killed one person each night. They did not have to specify a specific hitman. Their roles were not completely improbable, but there were a few quirks. The Godfather appeared like a normal Townie except when investigated or recruited by the Basketweaver and Sherlock Holmes. The Mafia Lawyer could block one person’s role each night, in addition to the Mafia kill. The Mafia Prostitute had no special abilities but was the specific target of James Bond and served as a clue to the Town that other Mafia (read: the Lawyer) might have special abilities of some sort.

THE ACTORS GUILD

BEAUDOIN / IS II - Actor
JEEP - Actor
MIKE AMOK - Actor
SWEETWATER - Actor

The Actors were a sort of weak Mason group. They were all told that all Actors were innocent, and that there were other Actors in the Town, and that they could identify each other by following the same pattern: using colours in their posts (either words or actual colours.) They were not allowed to talk to each other at night.
THE INVESTIGATORS

CADMIUM - IRS Agent
EILLID - Robot X4-6009-2A
JESTERNL - Methodical Cop
MITH - The Spanish Inquisition
RAAMAWEN - Sherlock Holmes
SOOTHSAYER - Lassie

The IRS Agent received a set of instructions regarding the wealth of people in the Town, and investigated one person each night. Unfortunately for him, only the Mafia and a few others were wealthy, and he could not find out anything unless he targeted one of them. Basically, a Lazy Cop of a type...I gave him whatever information I felt like.

Robot X4-6009-2A was given no instructions except that it was looking for its Creator, a scientist in the Town (this happened to be Sir Dynadan.) Each night it would investigate one person to see if that person was human and if that person was its Creator. If it had found Sir Dynadan, it would have protected him from night kills (until it died.) If it was lynched, SCENARIO 2 (scenarios detailed at end) would have occurred, and actually did.

The Methodical Cop was a Cop who was told he was Sane, and had to send me a list of the other 24 players in order at the beginning of the game. He investigated in that order throughout the game, skipping the dead. He could not find the Godfather.

The Spanish Inquisition investigated one person per night, and received a completely random result (innocent, guilty, or can’t tell.) That person was weakened the next day and would be killed if they accumulated three votes (not including the votes of the Spanish Inquisition.)

Sherlock Holmes investigated one person per night and received partial or full details of their role, if and only if that role was logical. Sherlock Holmes’ investigations would fail on the Underwater Basketweaver, the Flying Pumpkin, Shakespeare, the Robot, Barney, and the Amateur Necromancer. Sherlock Holmes could find the Godfather.
Lassie ‘followed’ one person per night and received vague (my call) details about their nighttime activities.

THE DOCTORS

INTERNET STRANGER - Barney the Purple Dinosaur
SIR DYNADAN - Cytokinin and Robotics Scientist

Barney the Purple Dinosaur protected one person per night from all forms of night kill.

The Cytokinin and Robotics Scientist protected one person per night from all forms of night kill, and turned that person into a plant for a day (that person could only make one post the next day.) If Robot X4-6009-2A was lynched, SCENARIO 2 would occur (explained later.)

OTHER IMPROBABLE ROLES, I: THE AMATEURS

LUNA - Amateur Necromancer

The Amateur Necromancer was told that they were dabbling in necromancy and could attempt to raise the body of one person each night. If successful, they would gain control of that person’s role and vote (had any resurrections been completely successful, they would have registered a ‘corpse’ account to post under, thus keeping their identity secret. The Amateur Necromancer’s attempt on X had four possible results: nothing happens (and the corpse of player X dissolves,) X gives the Necromancer the chance to make one final vote the next day (this happened,) X is raised, or the Necromancer channels too much power and is destroyed (least likely.)

I did not roll a die or use random.org for this role. I had the (what I thought was an improbable and funny) idea of using an online “love-meter test.” To determine Luna’s success, I entered her name with the name of the player targeted. But I made a mistake. The love-meter test site I used never gave me any other result than the first two. I decided to keep this in the end, as the Necromancer *was* an Amateur. For those curious, I’ll be looking for the exact site. I’ve forgotten it.

As an additional plus (I did little things like this everywhere,) anyone who investigated the Necromancer would receive a vague “she does dark, dark things” answer, indicative of a normal Town’s displeasure with the Dark Arts. Somewhat like a hobbyist.

MOLE - Prestidigitator

The Prestidigitator was the Town’s amateur magician. He was immune to investigation attempts and immune to the first attempt on his life. There was also a 50% chance that he received information on anyone who targeted him. In addition, he had a nifty one-time ability that is probably too powerful: he could at any one night during the game receive a list of all the night’s targets in random order (i.e. Bob, Joe, Luna, Antrax, Ysabel.) He could then rearrange the list, and I would assign the new targets to each role. If he switched Bob and Joe, for example, what should have happened to Bob would now happen to Joe and vice versa. This actually happened in the game.

MIRIYAMI - The Underwater Basketweaver

The Underwater Basketweaver attempted to recruit one person per night into a semi-Mason group. Although Miri was not informed of how her recruiting ability worked, it was also random, and had the following possibilities of results:

5% recruitment fails, Miri is insulted and thinks target is Mafia
20% recruitment fails, no information given
40% target is told they have been asked to join a Mason group, and must give up their special ability to join. They have one day-night cycle to respond.
20% the same as above, without loss of ability
10% target joins immediately, without loss of ability
5% target is insulted at the (as Luna later put it) “heterosexually-challenged” nature of basketweaving and is told Miri is Mafia

If at any time Miri’s group exceeded three members, I would start flipping a coin each night. If the coin came up tails, SCENARIO 1 would have occurred (explained later, and never happened.)

If the Underwater Basketweaver targeted a Mafia, she had a 75% chance of being told “did not join” and a 25% chance of getting a hint that the target was Mafia. The Godfather would appear merely untrainable. The Lawyer could join, at the cost of giving up his secondary ability (blocking a person’s role.)

SABERKITTY - Veterinarian

The Veterinarian, while alive, protected animal roles from night kills. While she was alive, Lassie, Barney, and the Flying Pumpking could not be killed at night. This was a passive role.

OTHER IMPROBABLE ROLES, II: THE PROFESSIONALS

ANTRAX - The Flying Pumpkin That Shoots Laser Beams Out Of Its Ass

The Flying Pumpkin was a strong vigilante role. It had a 25% chance of surviving any night attack against it, and could at any time pick one of two night actions: aim or fire. Firing gave a 75% chance of killing the target indiscriminately. Aiming cost the Pumpkin two nights, but gave a 100% chance of killing a Mafia target (except the Godfather) and a 25% chance of killing a Town.

MUDSTER - James Bond, 007.

James Bond was on a secret mission. Having slept with so many women, he had acquired several thousand STDs, only one of which was currently affecting him. Unfortunately for Bond, the only person who held the cure was a Prostitute working for the Mafia. Bond ‘slept’ with one person every night, and gave them some type of STD. The types were:
X - the target would die the next day if s/he received more than four votes.
Y - the person could not speak the following day
Z - that person’s role would be blocked the next night
Neither Bond nor the target would know which disease took effect; neither would I announce the “no speaking” to the Town or the “role blocked/poisoning” to the target.

Bond had a 30% chance of giving each of the above diseases to his targets, and a 10% chance of infecting them with the same malady that plagued him. Anyone who received that STD from Bond would pass it on to anyone they targeted at night. SCENARIO 3 would occur if at any time a majority of the Town was infected.

When Bond died, no details of his role were announced.

ZEALOT - William Shakespeare

William Shakespeare had to speak in iambic pentameter in his posts, except when voting, and had a one-time special ability to ‘link’ two players tragically - if any one of them died, the other would die at the end of the next day (like the Siblings in Mafia Invitational.) Zealot never used this ability.

NEO - Rube Goldberg, Mayor

Rube Goldberg, the Inventor and Mayor, had a number of functions. On one hand, he was extremely powerful. He possessed a transmogrifying gun he could use every other night, several smoke bombs that blocked a player’s role for a night, and a couple fake pistols that forced people to state an allegiance (Mafia, Town, Neutral.) He could use one of these per night or give one to another player anonymously. His vote also counted double as he was the Mayor. On the other hand, this made him a Mafia target, and once he died the Lynching Machine fell into disrepair...at the end of every lynching there was an X% chance that a random voter would die, and X rose by 0, 5, 10, or 15 every night (randomly, with a bias towards the lower end.)

MAFIA 3: Improbable Role
Master Key
Part II

II. The Scenarios

I decided an Improbable Mafia deserved some Improbable Scenarios, things that would enliven the game a bit and make the Townsfolk start worrying (especially since they had a bit of an advantage.) I also think that the idea of triggered scenarios adds some new punch to a game which appears to be proceeding as normal, and since I wanted to introduce some new ideas to the game...

SCENARIO 1: THE UNDERWATER BASKETWEAVERS BECOME A CULT

If the Underwater Basketweavers exceeded three members at any one time, they could have the possibility of becoming...well...exclusive. There would be a 50% chance each night that Miri, tasting the power of having so many apprentices, would attempt to start a Cult. She would then form a Cult group with the goal of converting everyone (her apprentices would not be informed of this fact and would continue to talk to her.) She would have one 50% chance of conversion of any Townsperson per night (100% chance of converting a former Basketweaver.) However, the Basketweavers would be told if someone left their group for the Cult. The Cult could kill at night by sacrificing one of their own members, and would have to be eliminated by the Town. Not particularly powerful, but interesting nonetheless, and a way to limit the power of Miri’s abilities. Miri was not informed of this scenario’s possibility of occurrence.

SCENARIO 2: THE ROBOT IS LYNCHED

If Robot X4-6009-2A was lynched while the Cytokinin Scientist was still alive, the Scientist, enraged that his Creation had gone mad, would start ordering it to kill one player per night, against its will. The Robot (now labeled an unlynchable Killer Robot) would become a pseudo-Serial-Killer, with the Scientist providing a target. If the Robot was killed by some means (Mafia bullets had a 50% chance and the Pumpkin’s laser a 75% chance,) the Scientist would become the equivalent of a Mafia Spy. Of the three scenarios, this was the most likely to happen (and actually did. Not that improbable, I suppose.)

SCENARIO 3: BOND’S PLAGUE

Given Bond’s role description, it is possible that eventually a majority of the Town would be infected with the plague. If this happened, the rules of the game would immediately change: only half a majority would be required for a lynching, and the players would have only X turns (X = number of players infected by the plague divided by 2) to complete the game. At the end of X turns, if no group was dominant, all players would have died. If any group was dominant (read: would normally be the winning group,) then that group would have won. Basically, the Plague would turn the game into a Speed Mafia, and I did not seriously expect this to take place (it did not.)

III. The Game

Night 1

• The Mafia, after a long argument, decides to kill MUDSTER (James Bond,) pretty much randomly, and block ANTRAX. They are successful.
• The IRS Agent tries to target MOLE, the Prestidigitator, but fails. MOLE is told the rudiments of the IRS Agent (CADMIUM’S) role, due to his special ability.
• The Robot targets MIRIYAMI and was told she was human.
• The Methodical Cop sends this list:
1 Dragon Phoenix
2 sketchwick
3 Sooth
4 Beaudoin
5 Cadmium
6  radwulf
7 Antrax
8 mudster
9 Internet Stranger
10 mith
11 pikachamp
12 jeep
13 Luna
14 makemeok
15 MiriYami
16 Raamawen
17 mole
18 groza
19 Neo
20 Zealot
21 Corsato
22 SaberKitty
23 Sir Dynadan
24 eillid
The first target on the list, DRAGON PHOENIX, is found innocent due to his Godfatherhood.
• The Spanish Inquisition targets LUNA and receives the random result: innocent.
• Sherlock Holmes targets IS and is told his role was illogical.
• Lassie follows IS and is told he is very purple.
• Barney protects DRAGON PHOENIX.
• The Scientist protects CADMIUM, transforming him into a plant.
• The Necromancer does nothing, as no one is dead.
• The Underwater Basketweaver attempts to train IS, but fails.
• Bond targets DRAGON PHOENIX, infecting him with a temporary poison (dead next day if more than four votes.)
• Rube Goldberg transmogrifies JESTERNL into a squirrel.

Day 1

The Town awakes to find MUDSTER castrated by the Mafia (the same as death, to Bond) and CADMIUM and JESTERNL transformed. With 23 possible voters, 12 or a deadline are needed to lynch. The actors busily start dropping colour words in their posts, while onlookers wonder exactly what the heck is going on. SKETCHWICK drops a comment about Lorrana Bobbit being part of the Mafia and tells the Town to vote for the plant. The Town reacts poorly, and forgoes the normal first-day randomness to attack him. In the most daring gambit of the game, SKETCHWICK claims the nonexistent role of Johnny Cochrane: a lawyer who appears evil, blocks the role of one target per night, and makes that target appear innocent. Because he can prove his role (by a successful block,) the Town unvotes him. MITH tells people not to vote LUNA, hinting at his role. As bandwagons are disintegrating, and people seem unwilling to find a random first day lynching candidate, the MODERATOR sets a deadline. Votes pile up for SABERKITTY due to her role-playing of a cute innocent animal lover. She hints at her role in a defense, but few listen. At the deadline, RADWULF and SABERKITTY are tied. A coin flip seals the latter’s fate, and SABERKITTY (Veterinarian) is given over to the lynching machine.

Night 2

• The Mafia attempt to kill ANTRAX, but fail due to his 25% chance of protection. The Lawyer blocks EILLID, who would have otherwise investigated MIKE AMOK.
• The IRS Agent investigates NEO and is told vaguely that he does not owe any money.
• The Methodical Cop investigates SKETCHWICK and is told that is guilty.
• The Spanish Inquisition tortures IS and receives the random result ‘guilty.’
• Sherlock Holmes once again fails by investigating ANTRAX, whose role is quite illogical.
• Lassie follows DRAGON PHOENIX and is told he likes computers and frequents porn sites.
• Barney protects MITH.
• The Scientist protects MIKE AMOK, transforming him into a ginkgo tree.
• The Necromancer attempts to raise SABERKITTY but only gains control of her vote for the next day.
• The Basketweaver attempts to recruit MITH. MITH is told he can give up his ability to join a Mason Lodge, and that he has one day-night cycle to respond.
• The Flying Pumpkin aims at NEO.
• Rube Goldberg throws a smoke bomb at RADWULF, blocking his role for the night.

Day 2

The Town awakes to find no one dead, although they notice that they have a new plant among them. MITH, having found IS guilty, attacks him. Since IS is tortured, he is quickly overcome by the mob, despite RAAMAWEN’s attempts to save him by coming out as Sherlock Holmes. MITH comes out as the Inquisition, and IS quickly dies, taking a short time to claim a bulletproof vest role in an attempt to dissuade the Mafia from targeting a Doctor should he live. He is revealed as Barney. LUNA, afraid she will be next (given that MITH received the opposite result as IS for her,) comes out as the Necromancer and asks for time to prove her role. The Town debates whether or not MITH should be lynched on the merits of a generic Lepton’s Gambit, and whether or not a Necromancer role would be evil. LUNA channels SABERKITTY’s vote at RADWULF. There is a short bandwagon against SWEETWATER, but once again the Town runs into a deadline and this time it is MITH who is the unfortunate lynchee. He is revealed as the Spanish Inquisition, although the Town is not told he received random results.

MAFIA 3 (Improbable Role)
MASTER KEY
PART III

Night 3

• The Mafia attempt to kill LUNA, but fail as The Scientist protects her, turning her into a plant. The Lawyer does nothing.
• The IRS Agent investigates JESTERNL and is told he is a fine upstanding Cop.
• The Robot investigates SKETCHWICK and is told he is human, but not in any way a scientist.
• The Methodical Cop investigates SOOTHSAYER, who appears innocent.
• Sherlock Holmes investigates JEEP and is told the details of his life as a psuedo-Mason.
• Lassie follows ZEALOT and is told he has a flair for dramatic tragedy.
• The Necromancer attempts to raise INTERNET STRANGER and fails dramatically (his corpse dissolves into nothing.)
• The Basketweaver attempts to recruit RALPHMERRIDEW, and is told he does not wish to leave his family which has been so kind to him. MITH, of course, does not join her group, being too dead to join anything.
• The Flying Pumpkin, having aimed at NEO the previous night, does nothing as Neo is found to be Town.
• Rube Goldberg transmogrifies SKETCHWICK into a weasel (I thought it appropriate,) and, using a toy pistol, forces RADWULF to claim an allegiance. RADWULF admits to having done “evil things.”

Day 3

Since SKETCHWICK can’t talk, the Town posits that the transmogrifier may be evil. RAAMAWEN reveals her results for the night, and MOLE makes a pronoun error (substituting ‘we’ for ‘I’) that causes a mini-wagon against him. He is also forced to claim a role. MOLE asks investigators to target him so that he can build up a list of probable innocents - an interesting idea no one follows. NEO comes out with his role and fingers RADWULF as Mafia. The Town objects to what seems to be a too-powerful role, but they don’t know about what will happen to the lynching machine if NEO ever dies. RADWULF, in response to the attack, claims Billy Graham (super-Doctor) and says NEO must be some sort of Mafia Cop. SIR DYNADAN tells the Town not to fear, as he is also a Doctor. Eventually RADWULF is lynched, and revealed to be the Mafia Prostitute. The Town wonders at what this exactly means, and goes to sleep.

Night 4

• The Mafia target someone who hasn’t posted yet to throw more confusion on the Town, offing ZEALOT (William Shakespeare.) The Lawyer blocks SIR DYNADAN, who claimed a Doctor-type role.
• The IRS Agent investigates SWEETWATER and is told rather vaguely that he is really poor.
• The Robot investigates NEO, and is told that he is human but not his Creator.
• The Methodical Cop investigates BEAUDOIN and is told that he is innocent.
• Sherlock Holmes investigates NEO and is told he is Rube Goldberg, an Inventor and the Mayor of the Town.
• Lassie follows RALPHMERRIDEW and is told he likes to kill things.
• The Scientist, fearing death after claiming a Doctor-type role, tries to protect HIMSELF, but is blocked by the Lawyer.
• The Necromancer tries to raise MUDSTER and fails.
• The Basketweaver attempts to train ANTRAX. He is told he may join if he gives up his ability, and declines.
• The Flying Pumpkin aims at DRAGON PHOENIX.
• Rube Goldberg uses his last pistol to make ANTRAX confess an allegiance. ANTRAX is found innocent.

Day 4

The Town awakes to find no animals or plants but the loss of a great playwright (chandeliered center stage in the Theater.) RAAMAWEN reveals her investigation again, NEO asks the Town if there is any consensus on who should be the recipient of more smoke bombs, and SKETCHWICK makes up some more details of his role. Some votes are bandied against EILLID, MIRI, and RALPHMERRIDEW. EILLID becomes the main target of the daily bandwagon and, knowing he cannot be lynched, essays a rather bored defense. At the end of the Day, the lynching machine is fired up to get rid of EILLID, who, strangely enough, doesn’t die.

Improbable Scenario 2 is activated with the following (not-so-immortal) words:

Night breaks again, this time with two killers in the shadows...

Night 5

• SIR DYNADAN is informed that he now gets a kill choice as well as a plant choice.
• The Mafia kills off SOOTHSAYER (Lassie) and blocks RAAMAWEN’s attempted investigation of JESTERNL.
• The IRS Agent investigates CORSATO and is told he is rich, and may have connections to the Mafia.
• The Robot checks SKETCHWICK again and is told he is still not his Creator.
• The Methodical Cop investigates CADMIUM and is told he is innocent.
• Lassie investigates ANTRAX and is told his ass is very important to him.
• The Scientist (now a *mad* Scientist) once again injects HIMSELF with cytokinins, and uses EILLID’s destructive powers to kill NEO (Rube Goldberg.) The lynching machine starts to degrade.
• The Necromancer attempts to raise MITH but fails (although I should have made an exception for this one :P.)
• The Basketweaver attempts to recruit NEO and is successful immediately for the first time in her career. This does not help her much as NEO dies.
• The Flying Pumpkin is told DRAGON PHOENIX is Town, due to his Godfatherhood.
• Rube Goldberg gives a smoke bomb to JEEP and tries to transmogrify EILLID.

Day 5

The Town awakes to find Lassie run over by a Mafia truck and Neo killed in fine Bladerunner style. The lynching machine starts to fluctuate and stays for the day at 5% malfunction probability. The Town, picking up on Lassie’s previous investigation hints, goes after RALPHMERRIDEW, who claims Moby Dick, is not believed, and is lynched very quickly. The Town learns he is Mafia Scum. MIRI claims a role as well.

Night 6

• The Mafia block SIR DYNADAN’s protection ability, followed by killing him with an overdose of his own cytokinins. The Cytokinin and Robotics Scientist dies, but not before his own night kill of RAAMAWEN (Sherlock Holmes), who had recently investigated the Godfather himself, DRAGON PHOENIX, is carried out by his robotic Creation.
• The IRS Agent investigates SIR DYNADAN and is told he is quite rich and clever.
• The Robot investigates MOLE, and is told he is human but not his Creator.
• The Methodical Cop investigates ANTRAX and is told he is innocent.
• The Necromancer attempts to raise NEO, and is given control of his vote.
• The Basketweaver attempts to train Luna, who is told that she can join without losing her ability. Luna accepts and will join the next night.
• The Flying Pumpkin asks the MODERATOR if an ass-laser-beam can destroy a Robot. After being told yes, he shoots EILLID, destroying Robot X4-6009-2A.

Day 6

The Town awakes to three deaths, and the lynching machine instability increases to 15%. IS notes that, surprisingly enough, ANTRAX, SKETCHWICK, and DP are all still alive. The Town discusses their situation a bit. CORSATO claims Pepé Le Pew after being attacked by CADMIUM, and confuses the issue a bit with false information. CADMIUM also claims his role, realizing that he is fairly useless, and the lynching machine ends up taking them both (the first normally, as he is lynched Mafia Scum, and the second with a random malfunction (not that an IRS Agent is always good anyway.))

MAFIA 3 (IR)
Master Key
PART IV

Night 7

The Prestidigitator chooses to use his special ability tonight to switch choices to new targets. The intended targets are as follows:

• The Mafia attempt to kill JEEP, and block MIRIYAMI.
• The Methodical Cop attempts to investigate SWEETWATER.
• The Necromancer attempts to raise RAAMAWEN.
• The Basketweaver attempts to recruit DRAGON PHOENIX.
• The Flying Pumpkin attempts to shoot SKETCHWICK.

The Prestidigitator rearranges them as follows:

• The Mafia kill SWEETWATER (Actor) and the Lawyer blocks DRAGON PHOENIX, who did nothing.
• The Methodical Cop investigates MIRIYAMI and is told she appears innocent.
• The Necromancer gains a vote control the next day from RAAMAWEN.
• The Basketweaver attempts to recruit SKETCHWICK, and since SKETCHWICK has the “Mafia Spy” status for this game he is told he can join the group if he gives up his secondary role (the blocking ability.) He declines. I did give the Basketweaver a hint at his guiltiness by stating that he could never be trained anyway.
• The Flying Pumpkin lasers JEEP, who is also revealed to be an Actor.

Day 7

There are now nine players left alive. The Town starts to debate what roles are out there, settling on one or two Mafia, the Basketweaver, Johnny Cochrane, the Necromancer, the Prestidigitator, the Pumpkin, and one or two Actors. ANTRAX comes out as the Pumpkin, IS and MIKE AMOK come out as Actors, and with the Town’s ideas that both DP and SKETCHWICK are innocent a unanimous bandwagon forms against JESTERNL. JESTERNL has time to claim his role, but he is not believed, and the Town is soon short their Methodical Cop. Oops.

Night 8

• The Mafia make the night easy, as they both block and kill ANTRAX, whose protection abilities now do not save him...no more Flying Pumpkin. Incidentally, this leads to what I thought was a humourous death scene:

• The Necromancer does not send a target.
• The Underwater Basketweaver attempts to recruit MOLE; he is told he may give up his ability to join the following night, and accepts.

Day 8

The lynching machine is up to 25%. DP still refuses to claim any sort of role, banking on the fact that his reputation and logic will allow him to get away with it. For the moment, it does. The Town wonders if there could possibly be a Mafia or Godfather Mason, and MIKE AMOK comes under a bit of suspicion. IS notes that everyone is cleared in some manner, so the Town is looking for a Mafia with abilities. He declares that SKETCHWICK and DP seem most suspicious to him, and calls the Town to vote for one of them. After almost a week of debating, the MODERATOR sets a deadline, and states that there will be no more lynches without majority. IS tries to muster a bandwagon against SKETCHWICK, but does not find one, and there is no lynch. In another amusing moment, IS goes off on the Townspeople for having no balls. In the cases of Luna and Miri, at least, this is true.

Night 9

• MOLE joins the Underwater Basketweaving group, and LUNA has been trained long enough to recruit also.
• The Mafia block both of LUNA’s abilites, and kill IS (another Actor.)
• The Basketweaver attempts to recruit DRAGON PHOENIX and is told he declines, with no hint to his guiltiness.

Day 9

The lynching machine destabilization is at 35%. There is a frenzied argument between DP and MIRI revolving around her recruiting abilites. DP creates an elaborate defense for why he did not join her group when asked and claims the role of Dr. Jekyll, consistent with everything he has done in the game so far. Unfortunately, he is not believed, and after a very long day he is lynched and revealed to be Bill Gates, the Godfather. His last finesse destroys MOLE (the Prestidigitator) as they struggle on the machine’s platform. There are four left alive.

Night 10

• The Mafia Lawyer blocks MIKE AMOK and DOES NOT KILL to implicate him the next day.
• The Basketweaver and her Apprentice both attempt to recruit MIKE AMOK, and are told that he has been offered the chance to join and will accept or decline during the next day-night cycle. He accepts, of course, but cannot do anything yet.

Day 10

The lynching machine instability rises to 45%, and with four alive three votes are needed to lynch. The MODERATOR does not use confirm-votes but states that if at any time there is a majority there will be a lynching, and that there will be no deadlines. MIKE AMOK and SKETCHWICK accuse each other, and after a short skirmish SKETCHWICK has the requisite three votes. The Mafia Lawyer is finally lynched after his false role claim on Day 1, and the TOWN WINS.

Left alive at the end:
MIRIYAMI (Master Underwater Basketweaver)
LUNA (Apprentice and Amateur Necromancer)
MIKE AMOK (Apprentice, former Actor)

IV. Credits

• The ‘characteristic’ of the Actors, allowing them to be Masons who originally did not know each other, was first used in Verbose Mafia on the GL.
• The Flying Pumpkin That Shoots Laser Beams Out Of Its Ass was originally a joke reference made by Antrax in Vegetable Mafia on the GL. Surprisingly enough, he received this role randomly.
• The Robot and the Robot’s death scenes are a nod to Bladerunner Mafia modded by Samadhi on the GL.
• Shakespeare’s special ability was used in the Mafia Invitational modded by mith on the GL.
• As far as I know, the Methodical Cop, Mafia Lawyer, Extra-kill Godfather, Lynching Machine malfunctions, Prestidigitator’s ability, and the idea of Scenarios are original and if referenced belong to this game.

Thank you all for playing. It was a pleasure to moderate this game. Please consider playing in Mafia 8: Vintage Betrayal when it appears.

I have completed an edit of Mafia 3: IR in text format. The edit contains only relevant posts. Spelling, grammar, and other errors have been corrected except when relevant to game discussion. Double posts have been merged. Vote counts, night talking, signup posts, date/time, and signatures have been eliminated. Moderator and player commentaries, including night actions and balance issues have been inserted when appropriate.

If you would like a copy of the edited MAFIA 3: IMPROBABLE ROLE, please send an email to quercitron@mac.com with some sort of suggestion as to what formats your computer most enjoys reading. Be warned: the edit is 54000 words long.

If you would like to add anything to the commentary, as either a player in the game or an observer, regarding balance, enjoyment, creativity, logic, thought approach, or how/what you were feeling/thinking at any given time during the game, send it my way in an email or PM and I will add it to the Master Key.

The edit available follows what I want to develop as a standard format for finished Mafia Games.

Note to Mods of other games: I am currently chewing through the modification and editing of game transcripts purely in order of what night actions I have. If anyone wants to send me night actions/roles/commentary for finished games, I'll start them on my edit list.

Currently edited to Q-standard format:

Mini 3 (Neo)
Mini 4 (quercitron)
Mini 6 (Antrax) although I'd like some commentary

Primarily yours. Anything would be good: how you got the idea for the game, how you decided that particular mix was balanced, if you think someone could have pulled it off if the players knew the roles beforehand, comments on gameplay and actions by people (just what you think of posts and strategies,) how you think the game would hold up with 10 really experienced players, what you think of jeep's protect-IS-every night strategy in a Mini Game.

If IS sent commentary, I'd like to know why he picked all his kill choices, what he thought his chances of winning were at the beginning, if he ever thought he was screwed, etc.
