Sakura, check out the beginning of Necromancer game. You’ll see the exact same thing happened there. The fact that both Kokichi and Wisdom are on my wagon for this reason is concerning because they almost mislynched me in the span of two hours for pretty much the exact same thing.

I don’t think I’ve ever been in a game where I didn’t have at least one or more white knights. I’ve never been universally scumread in any game I’ve been in. Having whiteknights hasn’t stopped me from being wrongly scumread and they haven’t stopped me from getting mislynched either. Hopefully, I will eventually figure out how to be my own white knight. Also, what reasons did you think they have for voting for you? I didn't find any explanations from them so I'm curious as to why you reacted this passionately.

I might have been a bit unreasonable and unfair expecting anyone to be a mind reader but if you read the beginning of Necromancer, you’d know that I came close to being maj in under I think two hours, for what appeared to me to be very similar reasons. Obviously, I realized my attitude sucked because the obvious difference was that in Necromancer, my reaction to the votes on me were justified - as over the top as it was. I had been horribly mislynched in a brutal game offsite very recently, which occurred closer to the end of Minuet iirc, which was actually my first time ever getting mislynched outside of a team hydra game and I’m still not completely over it.

Yes, well that was definitely a part of it - lack of an explanation. I do tend to handle being both scumread and voted for when I am given reasons, because then I have something to work with. Wisdom already explained that he wasn’t actually scumreading me but a reaction test. In my experience, reaction tests are mainly town motivated, which was my main reason for unvoting him. Scum pushes rarely involve reaction testing because, they are more interested in mislynching than in trying to sort someone.

As for Kokichi, I’m not going to speculate but her reaction to my overreacting did seem to be villagery. You can also have really bad town in a game - which was 100% the case in the game I got mislynched in. No, not because I got mislynched obviously but why. Let’s just say, there was little to none either reaction testing or sincere willingness to accurately attempt to sort me in that game from most of the villas and scum, pushing my mislynch. I’m feeling a lot better now, since that doesn’t seem to be the case here.

I'm failing to see where the "difference" part of what you're saying comes in. Apart from thinking that he had an overblown reaction - a valid reason to scumread someone - none of what you describe seems relevant. As far as I remember the thing with MuffinMan happened in the last game as well, and as for his vote on you; I really doubt it's all that meaningful. I mean, it really is just possible that he scumread you but didn't say anything about it.

I think you really ought to stop trying to scumhunt solely off of people's interactions with yourself. (Remind me to come back to this later.)

So, to be clear, you're saying that you find it suspicious that Katsuki scumreads you here when he townread you in Minuet's Trio and you think you've been acting similarly? Well, in the first place having just looked back at Katsuki's ISO in MT I don't actually see him townreading you early on; the exact opposite, in fact.

I don't think it's something you should necessarily ignore, but I think maybe you should just mentally put more distance between the the ideas of what people's reads on you are and what their alignment is. People can be wrong and still town.

To be clear, none of this is me townreading Katsuki. I'm just trying to explain that I think that your reasoning for him being scum is flawed.

I didn’t scumread him for the pm thing. It just seemed all of a sudden and I cringed at the word “forced” as well. I know he scumread me in the beginning of Minuet. I was referring to later in the game when he townread me by gameplay. But in addition to the weird Muffin thing, is his playstyle was very different early game in Minuet. He was a lot more laid back at this point in that game. That may be NAI but it pinged me.

Yeah they’re could be some really bizarro roles this game. Take Purr for example, she like TBG doesn’t seem scummy but most of her posts involve acting like she was a cat, so something is definitely up with the roles. The thing is that the main difference between Ank and TBG/Purr is that TGB/Purr are more obviously town. While Ank may not be scum, there are so far no really obvious towntells in any of her posts.

In any case, I’m not going to bother Ank for now because she hasn’t done anything obviously scummy either.

Don’t you agree? Even Spiffeh gives us more information than a poster who’s made only 3 posts. I don’t think he ever explained his initial Brian vote. One thing we do know is that he’s some kind of PR - double voter, so I don’t know how that figures into it. He’s also not a main character. In Minuet, FG said somewhere that giving the names of the minor characters was used to help scum. Iirc, none of those players flipped red but I need to recheck that along with other Alice games.

This is almost exactly the same thought that's been rattling around in my head for a while. I might be one that's prone to fall trap to scum intentionally going for the "too scummy to be scum" look, but it just never makes sense to me when people seemingly don't care about making themselves look towny.

On an unrelated note, I'm concerned with people townreading TBG. This isn't in just a "interested in the reasons behind a townread" fashion, as I asked Nancy with regards to Wisdom, where I don't really have many concerns myself about the person in question and yet I'm interested in the reasoning regardless; no, for this I distinctly believe that it is a bad idea to be townreading TBG at the moment. Going off of the assumption that his posting restriction is self-imposed, I find that while what he's posted so far has actually managed to be more game-relevant than one might expect from someone with his restriction, his restriction in the first place shifts expectations, so to speak.

By that I mean to say that seeing what's contained in say, 331, someone might be inclined to townread TBG for something along the lines of "making an effort" or some such, whereas if someone made the exact same post but expressed textually, I sincerely doubt that anyone would consider it a reason to townread someone. Expectations, or perhaps more accurately,

standards

for where a reader might draw the line on what's considered town-indicative are shifted. That's why I think it's in some sense dangerous to be townreading TBG at the moment; if his posting resitrction

is

self-imposed, then that simple choice has made him a much easier townread.

No buddying and pocketing is 2 dif things. I was trying to buddy Nancy and get ideas off her because I townread her. If she townreads me great that's a bonus but Nancy isn't a player that town reading me or scumreading me would make me perk my brow unlike someone like maybe Dunn or Kokichi

I think this makes sense. I often do something similar with my hardtown reads in pretty much every game I’ve played. I do it mainly for the purpose of gaining consensus on reads.

Tbh, I’m not overly suspicious of Maria’s behaviour towards me. I should definitely have been with Ank though because she never interacts that way in a game with me, even when she’s convinced I’m obvtown. I could still be wrong though.

My point being, that it’s kind’ve player dependent. Like if the worst wasn’t friendly to me in a game, I’d definitely find that suspicious, because that would completely go against his meta, for example.

What about Kokichi? Her behaviour in Minuet is pretty similar to yours in this game in regards to me. What about her do you find suspicious?

to her, but in my view more of your content was about making a show of interacting with her and having a strong townread on her in order to pocket her.

Like I pointed out earlier, I think a post like this doesn't come from someone who just wants to "bounce ideas off of someone"; I think it comes from someone who wants to make a show of their read. I actually want to expand on this because - and I really mean you no offense - Nancy is so wrong that it deserves far more words devoted to the subject.

1) No, I wasn't "beyond convinced" that you were scum in Minuet's trio. In fact, multiple times I expressed the opinion that, although I was not yet convinced that you were as town as others seemed to believe, I was more than willing to look elsewhere because there were scumreads that I were more confident on. This isn't an argument. It's not something that you can

dispute. It's literally the words that I wrote.

You're right; I think somewhere in what I said I implied that it was a deliberate misrepresentation. That was wrong of me. I got perhaps more than a little upset when I saw your initial response.

also, my issue with #636 is that it looked like a cheap way to discredit maria and add to the general suspicion of her without actually being substantive or trying to engage with her. it felt like a drive-by discredit.

I get the impression from Moment's posts that he's trying really hard to be seen as town, but it comes across as being artificial.

this is a little short so I guess you can't really see what I mean.

I've never played a game with Wisdom where I had more posts than wisdom.
in itself posting less than usual is easily seen as scummy but I don't really think it matters with most people unless its publicly known that they hate a certain role/alignment
so when i noticed that I didn't see wisdom spamming it up i sort of got a lil sus but then i started to think that wisdom's not an idiot and probably knows this
thus as scum would probably post some filler shit to get it so ostensibly he's posting as often as he normally might as town
but i mean that's a lot of effort for no reason and this game has been pretty slow for the most part so its possible that he's just disengaged in general
so i voted him to see what would happen, which in the end is all a vote is really for
its not so much as a reaction test as much at is to see the level of involvement in the game, as people are generally self-centered and care when there's a vote on them.
at the same time i myself aren't that interested in the game atm and probably dont care about the votes on me as much as i probably should.
and he's posted since then and made no reference to the vote.
which would indicated that he either hasn't read the thread or chose not to acknowledge it.
but since he responded to kats post on that page its pretty obvious that he read it and chose not to acknowledge it
and this decision can be interpreted many ways based on this.
either he doesn't care, doesn't feel threatened, or wants to create the illusion of either of the two.
i await more evidence to any of the the 3
