Have you ever had a dream that you remembered in vivid detail, not just in the morning, but weeks, months, even years later? These memorable dreams are a precursor of lucid dreams. With a true lucid dream, dreamers are able to mold the dream into a form they desire. For me, memorable dreams that stay with me for years afterward all share one characteristic: the dream itself is a puzzle to solve. I'm thoroughly immersed in the dream, too much so to realize that there is one or more specific, persistent and taken-for-granted differences between the real world and the dream. As the dream progresses, those differences affect every moment, every experience, and every interaction with other people or creatures in the dream. Then, suddenly the puzzle is solved, and and I comprehend what is unique about the dreamscape. And then I wake up.

In this dream, you are presented with a puzzle. If you solve it, you too may wake up! If not, then you and the dream both, will crash and be lost in oblivion

Setup Specific Rules (These are important!)

1. At the start of each day phase, three dream titles will be revealed.
2. In addition to the lynch, players may vote on a dream to "flip". Flipping a dream is done on plurality.
3. The flipped dream will have its effects revealed at the same time the lynch is revealed, and the dream with the least votes will be removed.
4. This setup features an additional phase known as "Moonrise" between the flip after a lynch and the start of night.
5. At the start of the Moonrise phase, the thread will remain locked, but the 2 most popular dream titles will be available for players to continue voting on, including the one that flipped. Players can change their votes during this period via PM, and can indicate if their vote is final.
6. All players with the ability to vote for dreams as specified in their role PMs will submit their choice of dream via a PM to the mod at this point.
7. Moonrise will end when one of the following conditions has been met: A dream has a true majority of votes after 6 hours, all players have voted, A majority of votes have been specified to be final, or 24 hours from the start of Moonrise.
8. The winning dream (chosen by plurality, not majority) will go into effect immediately; and a post explaining the dream will be posted in the thread. The game will then proceed to night phase.
9. Dreams that are not flipped or chosen may show up on a different night.
10. There is at least one ability in the game that will modify dream choices.
11. Dreams can affect the night phase, day phase, or both.
12. Dreams may also grant power roles to players. Unless specified, these may be held onto or used the same night. Dream recipients are chosen randomly unless an ability states otherwise.
13. Dreams with global effects will not affect more than one night-day cycle
14. All private topics have day talk enabled at all times. Temporary dream or role mechanics may restrict talking done in PTs during other times.
15. This game features a "deadline battery" mechanic. The formula for the drain is not public information, and players are advised to be wary of stalling out the game.

General Rules (These are also important!)

1. We don’t tolerate ad hom wars. If your posting is merely insulting a player without providing game content, you can expect a strike from us. Three strikes, you’re out. We are fairly lenient about this, but posting “Fuck you” over and over again is simply not acceptable. Severe issues will be reported to the list mod(s) via our super sekrit chat room we totally have with the hive.
2. If we say it violates these rules, it does. You can take it up with us postgame if you wish.
3. Play towards your win condition. Gambits are fine, directly harming your own team is not.
4. Once a lynch is reached, you may continue discussion until we lock the thread. No votes or unvotes will count after a lynch has been achieved.
5. A lynch is achieved as a majority of players voting for somebody. Half is not a majority.
6. Do not quote or pretend to quote any information you get from us via PM. This includes posting your role card verbatim. Paraphrasing is fine, as are role claims naturally.
7. Do not talk about this game anywhere else, or with anyone else.
8. Do not discuss ongoing games in this thread. This includes games on sites other than mafiascum. This also includes using [redacted] as that loophole does not fly here.
9. We are usually rather lenient upon activity. This game is an exception. Post every 48 hours. Failure to do so will earn you a prod. Respond to your prod within 24 hours, or face replacement. Three prods is also a force replacement.
10. Claiming scum by yourself is fine. Claiming scum with another player is an instant modkill. Don't do it.
11. We do not require unvotes. Your vote will be counted so long as you bold it or use the vote tag. Shorthand names are fine so long as it’s clear who the vote is for.
12. If you have a question, please PM us. If a question is something that should be answered publicly, we will make a post addressing it without naming who asked it.
13. If our vote count is wrong, you can PM us or post in the thread (use the bold tag and "@MOD") about it.
14. We do not fix tags or edit posts where you might make a formatting mistake, even if you ask us to.
15. We reserve the right to add to these rules or modify them, but only when we post notifying all players in the game of the change.
16. Loophole abuse is all fun and games until we modkill you. Don’t try it.

18. Encryption, text hiding, and the like are silly. Don’t do it.
19. Extensions will be granted at 48 hours per replacement, up to a total duration of 4 days max per game phase.
20. Do not use temporary information to convey messages. This includes your signature and your avatar, but is not limited to these things.
21. While putting your vote or unvote on its own line is helpful, it is not necessary and any attempts to game voting formatting will be dealt with as an attempt to cheat. If we think it was a vote, it was a vote.
22. A modkill will always punish the faction modkilled more as far as timing goes. All modkills will be done after consultation with the listmods. Modkills may or may not end the day. Modkilled players will be changed to a neutral survivor, meaning they lose the game instantly.
23. In the event of site downtime lasting more than 3 hours; time will be added to the deadline to compensate at a 1 to 1 ratio.
24. All factional decisions must be agreed upon by all living members of that faction.

It's been a long journey with no end in sight. Your two companions, like you, are children. The boy seems a little older than you, He's angular and on the verge of adolescence. He's impatient sometimes, anxious to reach your destination, wherever and whatever that might be. The little girl seems too small and young to make this arduous journey, but she is always right with you, clambering with equal skill over rocks and up and down all the banks and cliffs.

You're free. Never once do you think about "home", or "school" or "family" or anything that would mean places to be, obligations or ties to anyone but your traveling companions.

Once in a while, you see signs of other recent human activity. Usually it's a thin tree limb bent into a trap with a woven-grass noose half covered in leaves. You are wary when you see such artifacts, and fade back, deeper into the forest.

Signs of long-past human activity are much more common: toppled piles of stone, some with tube-like holes filled with red discolorations, where metal rods had once been; half-standing bridges arcing over empty riverbeds, going nowhere and connecting nothing; and arches here and there, standing firm where other structures failed long ago.

You travel south, through deep forests, following streams that converge into mighty rivers carving great cliffs into their banks. You travel south and ever lower in altitude. You have seen so many waterfalls on this journey. Some cascade thousands of feet over tall cliffs, some are more like a rapid flow of foam over a single boulder. Sometimes you break your journey and rest in a deep cave curtained by a waterfall, watching the sun rise or set, turning the torrent into a wall of fire. Sometimes, as you scramble down a rocky cliff beside the falling water toward the valley below, you catch sight of another group of children making their way up a cliff on the other side of the valley. You always freeze, astonished and wary at the unfamiliar figures.

You don't think of yesterday. You don't think of last week or last year. It's only now, an eternal now.

It crosses your mind that the now actually is eternal, that you have been a child for thousands of years, that the world wasn't always like this near-empty idyll.

And with that realization, you awaken. And you wonder where the journey would have ended.

The night is young. Bright moonlight streams over you. You close your eyes, snuggle down, and begin a new dream.

Space Fleet scuttlebutt warned you this would be a strange assignment. The earliest deep space probes had suggested the 2nd planet in the system was habitable, but would need serious terraforming to increase atmospheric protection from a punishing sun. But, later scouting had indicated the planetary conditions were almost too far in the other direction. It's an unusually watery world dotted with a multitude of islands from huge to miniscule, enfolded in thick clouds and near-constant rain.

The advance expedition wasn't going well and the call had gone out for more ecologists.

And here you are. The shuttle is flying beneath the heavy canopy of clouds over a vast rainforest. The huge trees break occasionally, revealing wide rushing rivers or great, still lakes. You're over one of the largest islands, perhaps one third of the area of Australia.

An ugly gash in the forest looms ahead. Your home for this assignment: Outpost 3.

You debark the shuttle into near-twilight darkness, though you know this planet's sun is high overhead. Your boots sink into muck, squelching down and sucking against each effortful step. You squint. Somehow, even through dense cloud cover and darkness, your eyes dislike the sun's intensity. Strange.

You come to the plasteel path leading to the labs and living quarters. Though tracked with mud, walking is considerably easier on the artificial surface. A few meters from the main lab entrance, a creature with long ears, huge, blunt incisors, and mottled brown fur over lean limbs and muscles sits impassively on the plasteel walkway as you approach. It watches you and your companions with wide, unafraid eyes.

"What's this?"

"Eh. We call 'em rabbits. They're everywhere. Harmless. They have no idea what they're up against once we open this planet up, sadly."

The "rabbit" stares at you, long whiskers twitching and ears swiveling in directions no terrestrial rabbit could emulate. The level gaze glides away, and the creature hops off the walkway with a giant splash, making for the trees. The huge hind legs apparently distribute its weight well enough to conquer the squelchy, sinking mud.

In the days that follow, you spend most of your time in the lab, avoiding the unending rain. The crop-plants your predecessors had introduced here are not doing well. You'd already known to expect that it wasn't an overwatering problem despite the climate. Earlier ecologists had ascertained that much. If anything, the crops you're studying show signs of dry-climate stress. The burnt-edged foliage agree with your eyes that the sun you still haven't seen even once through the heavy clouds is a formidable presence.

Even 20 minutes outside without adequate skin protection results in painful sunburn. Your eyes are red and stinging for hours when you come back indoors. Polarized sunglasses and goggles provide little relief.

Everywhere, and always, there are at least three or four "rabbits" hanging around the lab buildings, watching curiously.

When you learn a scouting vehicle has broken down, stranding its crew miles from Outpost 3, you groan. You've been putting off a trip out into the forest to learn more about the way native plants have adapted to this curious climate. So, of course, you are assigned to the rescue group.

At least the vehicle is enclosed and air-conditioned.

You stare through the vehicle's window out into the gloom. The forest floor is muddy, with huge rock outcrops the driver has to navigate around, as well as the wide tree trunks and underbrush. Rushing streams occasionally test the amphibious vehicle's ability to ford them. The day is nearly done by the time you reach the stranded scouting party hunkered down in their disabled vehicle.

The drivers decide to wait out the night before heading back to the outpost.

You stretch out across a bench seat, resting your head against your crossed arms and look out the windows again, into the deep and now dark forest.

Odd, how little animal life the forest holds. Occasional reptilian-looking animals slither through the muck, but there are no winged creatures flitting through the branches. There are no strange calls from hidden creatures either. Just the rabbits.

Lots and lots of rabbits.

Watching.

The next morning, the driver is furious when the vehicle won't start. He wades out into the muck to check the engines, air intakes and anything else that might have become clogged overnight. The vehicle is a muddy mess, but there is no obvious cause for the breakdown.

After a brief discussion with Outpost communications, the drivers decide to wait for the orbiting ship to send a shuttle down.

But, you'll have to wait out a raging storm that should hit in a couple hours.

And you'll have to find (or make) an open space large enough for the shuttle to land.

You decide to spend a little of the time before the storm scouting around for a small clearing. You and the rest of the expedition crews fan out, struggling through the deep mud. You climb a huge boulder jutting out of the muck, hoping to have a better view from the top. The rabbit that has been following you across the mud sits patiently at the foot of the rock, watching as you clamber.

You're hit was an awful wave of dizziness as you near the top of the boulder. You cling to the rock like a barnacle, hoping it will pass. Your head is pounding, and you can hardly open your eyes against the harsh...sunlight?

You look up. A huge, blinding sun beats down on you. You narrow your eyes to tiny slits, looking down onto the vast desert surrounding you. Here and there are your companions, comically raising their boots high off the rocky ground as though struggling through deep mud. In the distance, structures -- buildings? -- glitter in the harsh sunlight like faceted gems.

The sun is like a huge spinning mandala overhead in a hot, orange, cloudless sky.

The rabbit stares morosely at you.

How unfortunate.

Your eyes fly open. What a strange dream. With relief, you stare up at the bright moon, not some swollen monstrosity of a sun.

You eventually calm down and get back to sleep.

@mods: hypothetically, if a hider hides behind a townie with a bp vest who is shot (non strongman shot), does the hider die?

Hiding effectively duplicates all actions, in any Cabd setup. A hider hiding behind a townie when that is targeted by a kill and also has a bulletproof vest would also be shot at. Think of it as a house being shot at in a drive-by. The bullets fly everywhere and the person with the vest on is protected; but the person in their house doesn't have that same luxury.

So in the hypothetical case you're asking about, the hider would die and the townie would live.

You've been in school for as long as you can remember. The coursework is grueling. Neverending. Everything.

You used to worry about flunking out and being sent back to where you came from. Sometimes you dream about your past life -- the constant struggle to survive, to find food, to avoid the cops and the recruiters and the pimps and the priests. Some of them pretended to care about you and other children of the street but none of them did, really, until the day you'd been grabbed in a robotic sweep and dumped into a sterile, white holding pen. You'd expected to die, or to wish you'd died, but instead you'd been cleaned, fed, clothed, and eventually schooled.

The kids who flunked out? You never saw them again. You just assumed they'd been returned back to the human trash heaps from which you'd been plucked.

School was nothing like a life spent scrabbling for crumbs in the burnt out slums surrounding the tall spires of the great city whose name you'd never known.

Life in school was soft and clean. You were well fed both physically and mentally. Once you realized that there would be no lesson too hard, no problem too intractable for you to solve, you settled in with confidence and put your past life behind you, except for the occasional dreams.

Your human teachers were driven, and in time even panicky. You preferred the AI teachers who seemed distantly compassionate even when they demanded more and faster learning from you. Their programs changed and became more demanding, but somehow the AI personas stayed the same.

The day you were called to the assembly came after weeks and weeks of more stringent testing, both physical, intellectual and mental. You had never realized how many students were in this great warren of a school. Tens of thousands filled the huge stadium. In the far distance,
there was a stage with a few people on it. Their images were projected on great screens that encircled the stadium. You'd never seen the man who began to speak, but you recognized his face from your studies. The Secretary General. The figurehead of a global government that had great armies, but not enough might to control a world with too many people, too few resources, and a dwindling zone of habitability.

The words boomed and echoed, almost impossible to understand. Something about "on the job training" and about "humanity's great hope" and "Go with all our blessings."

You didn't return to your room after that. You were hustled into a great inverted teardrop of a structure, one of hundreds of teardrops on a huge flat concrete yard. The teardrop was gargantuan. Bigger than the largest skyscraper you'd ever seen.

You knew what it had to be.

A blinking blue light on the floor led you along with about fifty other students to a room filled with massive chairs. A vaguely familiar teacher gestured you to sit down and fasten your lap and shoulder belts.

You sat, waiting. Claxons, amplified voices, and great clanging sounds blended into a numbing cacophony. There was a final great bell and a booming voice "Ignition!"

It felt like you were being pounded into the chair and then the weight of the world pressed down upon you.

The ceiling became a huge screen. You recognized the buildings of the school, and your orientation flip-flopped violently. You were looking down, not up and the school and the city that had always loomed in the distance were falling away below you. They shrank, and more cities became visible around the edges, only to shrink and reveal further cities.

One city was enveloped in a flash of blinding light, and then a great cloud of fire. And then another city and another.

Still the great teardrop shaped building -- no -- ship rose higher and higher until you could see the curvature of the Earth. A thousand flashing lights below you marked the death of one city after another.

The ceiling screen went blank for an instant, and then a great field of stars filled it. The stars were brilliant and unblinking, like nothing you'd ever seen through the thick, polluted air you'd known all your life.

You were on your way. You would never return. There was nothing to return to. The Secretary Generals last words came back to you "Our last hope."

You hadn't flunked out. The greatest challenges of your life were ahead.

It's this, again, is it?  You know exactly how everything ends.  Or won't end.  

The poor child.  You never got over the look on the parent's faces.  That look of determination and hope.  But you knew.  There was no hope here.  Those faces would soon bear nothing but agony and anger.  

The kid never had a chance.  The park would never be the same again.  You knew this.  

The stages of the investigation are so clear to you now.  The murder.  The cover-up.  The hunt.... at first for a missing person, but then for a body.

You wait helplessly for the sting

If the Dream gives an ability to one player, the Daydreamer's choice will get the dream. If the Dream gives an ability to more than one player, the other player(s) will be randomly selected. Ever have that nagging feeling that you are forgetting something? What could it be? Hhhmmmm…I have my phone, wallet, keys, metro card. Dropped my clothes off at the dry cleaners. Did I leave the oven on? What could it be? Well… I am sure it will come to me. Why do I feel like people are staring at me? Geeze people! Keep your eyes in your head! You act like you have never seen a, oooohhh nnnoooo… Oh Lord!! MY PANTS!!! Then you wakeup in a cold sweat.

Well yesterday in New York City. A bunch of folks brought dreams to life. With the 11th annual “No Pants Subway Ride.” The organization “Improv Everywhere” is behind the prank that started 11 years ago with just a 7 people Ride.” I was one of the lucky participants to join this prank that has now grown into thousands and takes place in multiple cities across the globe. The biggest rule of the ride, is to act like it is just another normal day on the train. I believe the best site I saw, was an elderly couple, hanging on with one hand and a book in the other. Just chillin and passing the time with a good book. There are photographers hired to take pictures of the event as the participants are asked to refrain from taking photo as it would violate rule #1. @LLD - The point that Math is getting at is that from your point of view if Dreamlz is town the games over if he's not going to unvote you and most scum teams would have had a chance to blitz you at this point (Think TWIE is the only person that hasn't been online since) so therefore he's either confirmed scum to you or the world where you're both town is a world we are never winning.

And I acknowledged this, and I've never thought he was town.

I'm saying that my vote is irrelevant. I don't want to vote him and have him beetlejuice in here and create 10 pages of worthless fucking noise.

And I especially am not going to do it because fucking Math asked me to, of all fucking people.
