Not gonna lie I thought about doing exactly that.

It's 2AM I'll put up something meaningful in the morning.

VOTE: Pine. why abandon your strategy just because someone else picked it?
It wasn't my strategy. I considered it on reading the ruleset, then quickly realized it was dumb.

Mastina and I both wanted the Normal. I don't like Open setups. We're both flexible and comfortable as either alignment, so seeing who was in each game was more important. I was specifically looking to avoid certain player(s).

@Pine: that makes sense. We didn't have strong feelings about which game we got. I was interested in the unlimited voting mechanic but the normal would've been fine too and I wanted to see the playerlist first but then I still didn't care all that much once I saw it. What did you submit though in your PT, when pregame you had to say whether you wanted 1st or 2nd and then you had to say who would have played which game if you got 1st pick instead?
This is a complicated question and I don't really follow it. Rephrase?

That's not how that worked?

We chose second draft specifically so we wouldn't have to make that decision. We put "n/a" in that choice slot.

We didn't decide who would go to which game until we saw the 1st choice make-up. We both still preferred the Normal, so the chivalry that was drilled into me as a kid kicked in and I offered to take the Open.

I'm not sure why you read the rules wrong.

Okay, it took me a little longer than I expected, in part because I wanted to get Mastina's reads as well.

She's going absolutely nuts in our PT, to the point that she waits exactly three minutes from announcing she's present in the thread to saying in all caps "I NEED YOU IN HERE." Here's a distillation of her reads, then mine:

Plotinus
- Mastina regards him as fairly locktown. With Alisae's flip in Game B, we can see e was a Vanilla Townie. They chose 2nd pick, meaning they got to see role PMs before assigning a player to a game. If there were a scum role available to them, Ali would have taken it.
Dunnstral
- Solidly in Town meta, 75-80% Town
Ausuka
- Probably Town. She pegs this at ~65%. A comfortable TR.

Cogito Ergo Sum
&
singersinger
- Mastina ambivalent about both, insufficient information

RedFlavor
- 51% scum. She didn't really elaborate
Not_Mafia
- "Suspicious, but not strongly". Better than random odds of being scum. Self-serving moves.
Katyusha
- Mastina has a
rabid
scumread on her, harder than mine, even. She agrees with my reasoning here. Clearly playing both sides, trying to manipulate for advantage. 80+% scum here

======================

My reads are rather similar. In fact, Mastina and I are on the same page about a lot of these reads, which really reinforces our perceptions.

Plotinus
- I endorse Mastina's reasoning here. Even before Alisae flipped and Mastina called this, I was getting Townish vibes from Plot's line of interrogation.
Dunnstral
- Agreed, this is Town meta

Ausuka
- I'm not ready to bet the game on this yet. I always get Townish impressions from Ausuka, it's probably her demeanor. I completely missed her as SK in NY211 until I PoE'd it down to her and one other player, then guessed correctly. She's stealthy..........That said, weak TR here.
singersinger
- *shrug* completely opaque to me as yet. Too early for sophisticated reads.
Cogito Ergo Sum
- I'm willing to call this a weak SR. CES looking self-serving thus far, but nothing screams predatory. Too early.

Not_Mafia
- Reads mostly as selfish so far. Disdain for the consequences of anti-Town actions, but nothing overtly antagonistic. I really wouldn't want him to last long.
RedFlavor
- Striking all the wrong chords with me. Seems to be maneuvering for position, reckless disregard. Displays concern with *looking* anti-Town, less concerned with *being* anti-Town.
Katyusha
- Brazen waffling, some very notable cogdis between what she's saying and what she's doing. Lots of alarm bells here.

======================

Okay, there it is. Y'all are fuckups for running me up this early, with a third of the playerbase still pussyfooting around. Thanks for at least letting me get reads out there. Please keep them in mind.

In case I get a reprieve:

VOTE: Katyusha

Pretty sure I'm already voting N_M and RF.

Katyusha is definitely one of our lynches today. Plot - you're so locktown to me right now I have zero qualms about essentially masonizing you right now. What's your read on Kat?

Not_Mafia, I don't really care if you keep voting me, but please unvote everyone you don't have an actual SR on. This is a Micro, every vote counts. Your full board vote is really SUPER antiTown

If you think I'm scum, vote me. I gave my reads list, and made my peace. You still didn't vote because you didn't have conviction. Now you're only doing it because your bluff has been called and there's cover to not quickhammer someone who's going to flip as Town and get their reads vindicated.

Town is afraid they might be wrong, but not afraid to act on their reads.

I still don't get the GD thing? The only GD threads I'm regularly involved with are in the Speakeasy. Even then, it's just Relationships and my new Adventures in Parenting demi-blog.

That said, I may be ready to lock in votes on Katyusha and Not_Mafia. I just ISOed N_M, and it's hilariously anti-Town. He's still voting most of the playerlist, gives no real reason for his reads, and seems to not care quite who gets lynched, as long as it isn't him.

I want a Not_Mafia lynch above all else.

This "vote everyone" nonsense is blatantly scummy.

VOTE: Not_Mafia
VOTE: Katyusha

Plotinus doesn't take a scum role while Alisae takes the Town role. That doesn't happen. Don't be dumb.

In post 409, Ausuka wrote:I'm rereading the thread and like I'm not really feeling a Katy lynch? Most of the stuff she says about the early Pine wagon I agree with.
In post 112, Pine wrote: Your tone and behavior around my wagon suggests you know this is an error, which you don't want to be associated with, but are happy to passively encourage.
I mean, I don't see this in her play at all, and I don't get why Katy!scum is afraid of pushing a mislynch on page 5.
In post 115, Pine wrote:
In post 108, Katyusha wrote:If the above it’s true it might actually be Pine/CES

You feel legit so far, Dunn and ausuka are obvtown, singer is townie, rf is apparently town by meta i’ll trust in

So sure after like last minute reads and some discussion i’m no longer opposing this
And then you said this.

You're playing both sides without actually committing.
Not seeing this point either; Katy started by defending you, then changed her mind. I don't see that as "playing both sides" nor do I see that as something that town can't do?
In post 152, Pine wrote: For example, she keeps going on and on about how this is scum!Pine just attacking her without reason or explanation...yet I don't see a vote on me.
this is the only point on cogdis that I saw being brought up, and, like, I don't see why it's scummy for Katy to not want to hammer you so early on, nor do I think scum!Katy would be scared of voting you here.

this feels towny to me? like, it does genuinely feel like Katy and Lycan have been talking behind the scenes trying to solve the game. The part where she says "He vibed with most of what he was doing and he'd vote in the same places at the same time as him." about CES resonates with me in particular because I had the same thought process w/ CES early on and that's why I had him as town originally.

feels kinda opportunistic? like he wants to grab a singer mislynch and then get katy as well. I don't get his position of thinking Katy/Singer are scum together; that's one scumteam I wouldn't really have ever considered.

but idk though. There are a few things that give me doubts about katy. Like, she's mentioned before that she enjoys playing scum a lot more than town and she's definitely been very active here, although that's also explained by the fact that this is a more serious and effort-based game than normal due to the playerlist and the team nature of the game. If any of {pine, mastina} {Alisae, plotinus} are town I think the odds are quite low that they'd both be wrong about katy. But I guess I'm just not really seeing it? a lot of her stuff definitely seems like genuine solving. I've already given the example of the lycan post, and actually genuinely does feel like she's trying to sort through the games and prove Dunn is town. The obvious answer based on this would be pine/plot but I'm definitely not convinced it's going to be that easy.
If I wanted to chain Singer/Katy I wouldn't have backpedaled and unvoted when she Towned the fuck up. Singer went from enigmatic and opaque to Towny as all shit. That's why I got frustrated - I thought I'd figured it out and she proved me wrong.

Re: Dunn...you're keeping your cards close to your chest. My dodging comment was based on your reactions to my questioning you. You have a different tone from White Flag (according to Ran, I stopped reading it after CES said he wasn't going to utilize us, lol). You said RedFlavor was coasting and were leaning town on me, but now that there's a wagon on me, you're interested in voting for me? Apparently you pushed T-Chill for lurking and posting in other games, but aren't doing that here for some reason.

Re: Pine...we really liked what he produced when he was under fire. Ran particularly noted this is similar to your Civ 5 Mafia play.

Re: Plot...your Kat reads make sense, particularly because I had the same initial concerns with her spiral on Pine. We like Ali's reads, but which you were more of a presence in this game.

Re: Ausuka...this is a bit biased because we're scumreading RedFlavor. Ran doesn't blame you for not liking my play but does note it's making people question it so we can see if there's town motivation behind determining why I'm playing this way or not. Not sure why this was in your note...something something, thinks Kat's wrong on Dunn and you're just following her?

Tossing in that seemed genuine
This was the post that flipped me back off of singer. This was a really Townish post.

I was trolling you, Kat. THIS is a bad line of questioning. You're grilling me and splitting hairs over a position I held for about five seconds, going from soft TR to suspicion to satisfied hard TR. It's not rocket surgery.

She made a couple of suspicious posts, I got nervous, and her subsequent behavior calmed me down and solidified my original read.

Stop being obtuse. My manufactured scumreads are way more coordinated than that. It's arguably the biggest tell I haven't been able to sand away.

Pine, I'm still 100% serious about blacklisting your play if your town here. If you're scum, fine, getting on my nerves is an entirely valid strategy and I'm probably just not at a good place mentally for that but if you're town and you play like this I'm not dealing with that.

Deuces.
Yeah, here's the thing, scumreading you and prosecuting that read is not blacklist-worthy. That's just taking an in-game dispute and escalating it to a larger, more personal matter. I haven't done *anything* to warrant something that drastic.

Deuces yourself. I don't have any hard feelings for you as a player.

Katyusha’s RL problems are not my fault, though she has my sympathy. As for the cogdis argument, it DOES exist. She said one thing and did another. Just because she doesn’t LIKE being called on it doesn’t make me the asshole. Further, SHE was the one who kept rehashing the singer lynch, despite the fact that I got off of it when she became obvTown. And yet, the EXACT same group is lynching me as lynched Singer.

Am I the only one who notices that the Town is split down the middle, with scum clearly taking sides to tip the balance?

If my lynch is what it takes to wake this Town up, fine. After this, you need to follow my reads and singer’s reads, because we were clearly the threat that scum wanted eliminated.

Lycanfire and {Not_Mafia, CES} are the team. I think it’s CES, Mastina thinks N_M. Outside chance of Ausuka, though Mastina no longer agrees.

Fuck this game. The only real Townies are either lurking or run up to lynch by dumbass antiTown behavior.

Deuces.

Mastina is absolutely frothing at the mouth for Katyusha. I think it's not crossing a line to use her turn of phrase "transparently scum". This is the problem with Micros...with 8 players, it takes five to lynch. All the scumteam has to do is not vote each other and the Town has to be damn near unanimous to achieve a scumlynch. Two Townies with a hard TR on scum and it's over by the numbers. I think that's what's happening here.

Mastina has dropped her Ausuka suspicion, and acknowledges my read that CES has been lowkey scummy all game. Her second read, though, is Not_Mafia, which I also agree with. His 'vote everyone' tactic is RIDICULOUSLY anti-Town, and lets him quietly raise the stakes on everyone he can get away with. The N_M tell is when he has bad reads, and his reads here are terrible.

I could compromise on N_M with you, but we should have a larger conversation about Katyusha.

Ali, the meta read on you is mostly Mastina's, and I accept her reasoning. She is also very, very sorry about what happened.

I've got no intention of voting Lycan though because I firmly believe it is a town slot

You're going to have to come up with something else or compromise or you're just going to end up lynched by default

News flash: they can swap places at will, this is bad wifom at best, straight up untrue at its worst
They couldn't swap places at will. Only one swap was allowed, and then only if the other player was dead in their game. Plotinus can't come back.

As for a compromise, my vote has been on N_M for like two weeks (probably an exaggeration but w/e)
In post 541, CheekyTeeky wrote:If Plot and Ali are aware of their meta, with one supposedly preferring scum more than the other, would it not make sense to go against these expectations when they're clearly both competent scum players?

CES what's your read on that slot?
This WIFOM disappoints me.

I really resent the way your slot has made me scumreading you into a personal vendetta. I don’t do those.

I think your slot is scummy. Kat had some pretty clear cogdis, AtE, and agenda-based voting. I also really dislike her close associative with my second suspect N_M.

None of that is personal, none of that is bad play. Maybe I’m wrong. It happens. But I’m going to have to insist that you stop making me out to be a villain who’s picking on you.

Katyusha, you need to develop thicker skin. Seriously, nothing I did here was personal. I have zero problem with you as a person, and I *did* actually engage with you. If your definition of "engaging" is agreeing with you, then Mafia is not the game for you.

Oooookay

I've tried to make peace with you at least two or three times, Katyusha. I have nothing against you personally, this was a disagreement in a game. I'm sorry you felt you were treated poorly, but there was no malicious intent. I hope we can get along next time we cross paths.

GG scum, especially CES. I spotted you right at the end, but didn't have the capital to make a difference. I hate it when disorganized Towns don't give credit to disciplined and savvy scum. Well played.

OK, but his strategy was ridiculously unhelpful. Voting for everyone essentially added the Hated modifier to all Townies. That is *bananas* anti-Town, and if I ever play a game like this again, I will policy the fuck out of anyone doing it.
