hi, i am awake now. i understand glitch's viewpoint because honestly it's pretty fun fmpov to be a vt running around not having to worry too hard about your pr actions. you just vote and scumhunt.

i don't think the questioning is trying to fish out anything about pooky's role in particular so much as the mindset that they're approaching the game with which is far more indicative than the nuances of a role itself.

Glitch's quick hop onto Pooky is suspect given the way obvious rolefishing and the overdefensiveness throughout 19 because he felt like Pooky dodged his over-the-top aggressiveness.

I feel like Glitch is trying to lure Pooky into saying something that he can twist for his own benefit. Pooky is holding his own, but I don't like Glitch here at all.

My grievance with Star is not the bodyguard discard, or at least not mainly anyway. That's just something extra that doesn't help.

i come from epicmafia where it's pretty good, too. it is curious what could be as tempting but it was more a matter of explaining why people were perhaps glazing over that one being discarded in lieu of something just. so in your face "why?"

though that's preference because, ngl, i would always take vt if possible. i know this is a team effort but i think that people need to realize that saying "there is no reason not to take x over y!!" has to factor in a bit of selfishness and enjoyment and there might not be more than that. sucks for town, but it is what it is.

But in the end they're both protective roles and both pro-town. There really isn't a huge difference between the two. I don't find either role fun to be fair but they're still necessary in a game like this.

this is the easiest to address from mobile compared to other things but glitch:

- how is it coherent to push the fact that i am trying to look busy when i have confessed i haven’t put in too much effort thus far? i feel like your vote on me is a lot of words that could be condensed down into “you haven’t contributed too much yet” and it’d feel more genuine of a concern wrt me.
- i don’t think we’ve played together but i hate playing anything other than town. it’s infinitely more fun to me to be able to find other town players and coordinate with them to solve. by virtue of me throwing out a role that is detrimental to the town you should be more inclined to think i took something actively helpful to the town knowing that i did have a town option regardless.

I think we just have a very different way of approaching this. Maybe I'm wrong. I just think it's a spectacularly poor idea to rolefish as scum in a role madness game where you already know the person is equal to or better than doctor. tbf it is probably a lot easier to say that about n_m from his perspective who has not posted a lot here. regardless i don't see it as him trying to ~respond to me and what i said wrt his vote on me and i'm still content to give him a little townread for now.

also fwiw my list of most ~powerful discarded town roles goes like this

doctor > tracker > bodyguard > gladiator > townie > miller

if i had to guess who's maf off of discards alone: n_m, fidget, maybe glitch, maybe ndmath, maaaaybe hectic

i think that gladiator is an understandable discard as town though because you have to have a lot of self-confidence in your reads to go toe to toe w someone.

vt as a throwaway is a bit weird to me but that's personal preference and idk if there was a more fun maf role offered here. that's tinfoil land though. i'm really bad at math and also my eyes have glazed over everyone's preferred roles/alignments this game so i'm gonna skim through and note that down at some point probably.

i'm sorry to fidget and n_m for those discards and i hope the other cards were better. lol. also i hope that glitch got a more interesting one too.

Honestly I have a light town read on ydrasse for the reason above. I believe him about his preference of town and since he discarded a town role that means he had the option if choosing town. So unless he had a really cool scum role then he's probably just town.

Although I do need to look up what exactly his discarded town role was. Sounds a bit to me like it's not something you'd want and one of those town roles used for balance purposes.

I prefer town, as I don't feel like I have to pick and choose my words or try to find holes in the words of someone who I know to be town. There's more freedom in being town than scum.

I think you have to pick and choose your words as any scum role. I like the multi-faction aspect of an all-powered game (again think Vi/Tar or my games on View Askew, which do have a little explanation in my Wiki), which I've said on repeat.

1. i love playing mafia but i'm too timid IRL to find people and none of my friends play it
2. I have a bunch actually-- I really liked Jigsaw Mafia for the flavour and mechanics, and there are many games i just enjoy because i met a lot of cool ppl in them. If i had to pick my most favourite so far, it'd be this one cause im usually not overly proud of my play but i thought i did pretty good that time around. The payoff at the end was really great for the amount of effort i put into it

Out of the above, the only one that I'm sad to not see an answer from is Blair because I don't really remember them. I appreciate y'all answering me even if it's considered an "empty calorie" discussion by some. With "noob-ish," I meant new-to-me players, I was typing on my phone and shorthanded it.

In any case, I like to see who is actually willing to be vulnerable and share some insight to themselves and their game play, especially if I don't know you at all. I can go read up a bit and get a better feel for playstyle if I haven't played with you before.


Here's my answers:

1. I started playing on the View Askew Board where each game day was one actual day and you really have to devote like a straight week or two to game play. I was curious if there were other forums that played mafia, did a Google search, and here I was.

2. I loved the series of all-powers games that Tarhalindur and StrangerCoug used to do. On the VA Board, I think my favorite was the Avengers Assemble game where I ended up being an Independent Thanos having to look for gems like 5 years before he was introduced on screen.

3. I have a love/hate relationship with being a VT just because I roll it so often. I prefer third party roles or multiple affiliation games.

4. Everyone in my signature and so many in this game right now.

TP is third party, Fidget.

1) She says she prefers town because she doesn't have to pick and choose her words.
2) I ask her whether she has to pick and choose her words as TP, and she admits she does.
3) Her in a recent game saying she prefers TP.
